“Nevaeh is fine, Xiah. You don’t have to call me miss anymore,” the pixie commented, her gaze not faltering from the grace of her friend’s handsome visage. It must have been pure luck that she met him that day when he was sick, which was followed by casual hi and goodbyes in the hallways as they pass each other in between class sessions. A friend Nevaeh mutually felt close, as they both seemed to be creatures of a few words, although his had always been grand and formal unlike her human adjusted speech, and they both seemed comfortable of each other’s body language. Xiah was one of a very few creatures Nevaeh had skipped the awkwardness stage.
Xiah sure pulled off an impressive ‘casual’ lunch date. It was way beyond her expectation that her eyes stared at the grandeur of a dreamily themed gazebo she thought wasn’t their place. “No way…” she blurted out, facing Xiah with a questioning stare after he stopped just right in front of the entrance. “We’re having our lunch here?” Nevaeh didn’t wait for Xiah’s answer, as she didn’t want to miss a moment to appreciate the ambiance of their surrounding full of life and splendor. No, it was way beyond the superlative that her compliments wouldn’t be enough, and she didn’t deserve this kind of treatment.
She was led up to the steps, eyes scanning each blossom and vines welcoming them with a subtle scent of their vitality. And the piano… did he conduct a research in preparation to this? Because he apparently nailed this so-called date. Xiah was already exemplary from the get go and even though he might look like an experienced man when it comes to dating, his sincerity flaunted more and nothing else mattered. Everything was perfect.
She was ushered to seat and after receiving his welcome Nevaeh dipped her head slightly and sat down, still unable to keep her head straight ahead to face him as she was staring at the pianist enjoying the melody of his song. “So this… is just a simple lunch,” Nevaeh stated before finally putting all her attention back to Xiah with the stare of her crystal blue eyes twinkling in gratitude. “You are exceptional, Xia… but I hope you didn’t work too hard for this?” She’d been in countless dates; all her life after turning a certain age she was obliged to meet selected royalties yet none of them compared to him. Even with the extravagance of the pavilions reserved for the event this had mocked their existence. And yet, this was no more than a lunch between friends.
“Neveah, then,” he said, his voice falling slightly more quiet then before. He felt his cheeks blister with red, but did not fight back the smile that passed his normally sullen lips. She was so sweet to him, especially letting him call her by first name with no honorary title. He could tell that he wanted more time to spend with her, but in truth, he didn’t know if she would grow tired of his dull personality as most did.
His smile grew to a silly grin at the girls obvious happiness. “We are indeed, my dear. I had this place especially set up for the two of us to dine. I hope it not too overwhelming for you. I wouldn’t want the grand surroundings to be something you do not wish to be around. We could move if you’d like, but i promise you, it gets better.” Pulling out her chair out and watching her flustered gazes lurk about the pavilliion, he reached in then as bold as he was to press a gentle peck to her cheek.
“You know, I’m not very good at this whole romantic date thing. However, I have learned from many a master in my past to treat those you deem respectful with utmost care. You, in fact, are one who I deem as such. You took care of a stranger and you helped me back to health. You did not judge me for not understanding the language, nor did you treat me as less. You showed compassion for me, when that is rather hard to come by in this fast paced world. And so,” he gestured to the surrounds again, “if I am able to freeze a small portion of paradise for you just to ahve a simple lunch date, I would. You deserve just that.”
