Trump has EVENING MELTDOWN as MARKETS CRASH
Republicans cultivate an alternate universe of lies, deceit, and hyper partisan propaganda.
Stop and think. Please.
Don't punish people all around you in the vain hope doing so will help other people around the world. It won't. It'll just hurt everyone more.
Another Trump presidency will be an epic disaster on all fronts, for everyone. Here and abroad. It will be the end of America in every sense of the word.
And for what?
So you get pat yourself on the back and feel like you made a difference? It's an empty gesture. That will ultimately lead to worse things than why you're protesting to begin with.
Both parties are not the same. #VoteBlue
For those who don't vote for Biden, there will be no consequences...for them.
The people who know damn well the president and the party in power will affect them directly know damn well who to vote for.
We need to get the rest to understand that their choice, or inaction, will have a big effect on other people, people they purport to support.
In other words: zomgz, how could listening to the constant parade of tankies, purity cultists, morons, and Russian psyops telling ONLY leftists/liberals not to vote (while somehow never telling the fascists this, hmm) possibly have any terrible long-term consequences, on top of the ones we're still dealing with from all the tankie-purity-cultist-moron-Russian-psyops successfully doing this for much of the 21st century to date?
Government working for the people
Pay attention
Tim Scott is an idiot
Republicansâ Project 2025 plan would leverage virtually every arm, tool and agency of the federal government to attack abortion.
"GOP operatives have already crafted an expansive blueprint, 887 pages long, laying out in painstaking detail how they intend to govern, including plans to leverage virtually every arm, tool and agency of the federal government to attack abortion access. The document explicitly names their intention not just to rescind FDA approval for the abortion pill if they regain control of the White House in 2024, but to revive a 150-year-old law that criminalizes sending or receiving through the mail any âarticle, instrument, substance, drug, medicine or thingâ that could be used to facilitate an abortion. That law, the Comstock Act, is viewed as a de facto federal abortion ban by reproductive rights advocates and anti-abortion activists alike."
When somebody tells you in that much detail what they're going to do if you let them... believe them.
Please get registered early, and vote.
The president is pardoning thousands of people convicted of use and simple possession of marijuana on federal lands and in the District of C
WASHINGTON (AP) â President Joe Biden is making thousands of people who were convicted of use and simple possession of marijuana on federal lands and in the District of Columbia eligible for pardons, the White House said Friday, in his latest round of executive clemencies meant to rectify racial disparities in the justice system.
The categorical pardon Friday builds on a similar round issued just before the 2022 midterm elections that made thousands convicted of simple possession on federal lands eligible for pardons. Fridayâs action adds additional criminal offenses to those eligible for a pardon, making even more people eligible to have their convictions expunged. Biden is also granting clemency to 11 people serving what the White House called âdisproportionately longâ sentences for nonviolent drug offenses.
Biden, in a statement, said his actions would help make the âpromise of equal justice a reality.â
âYou want to know what this [war on drugs] was really all about? The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what Iâm saying? We knew we couldnât make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.â ~ John Ehrlichman, Assistant to the President for Domestic Affairs under President Richard Nixon
I'm glad the Biden administration is finally providing clemency for people convicted of simply possessing marijuana on federal lands; thereby, attempting to rectify some of the harm that happened due to the GOP contrived "war on drugs."
Okay, I was just going to reblog this without commentary, but I can't keep this to myself. I'm a PhD student in environmental science and this is my fucking highway.
The first published study about climate change (that I am aware of-- feel free to point out if there's an older one) is an 1896 paper by Svante Arrhenius. He pointed out the link between the greenhouse effect and changes in atmospheric CO2.
Plate tectonics, which the geoscience community now recognizes as near indisputable, was a fringe theory until about the 1960s.
Just in case anyone thought that climate change was a "recent fad" in research.
