Once the battle was over, the prince scrambled towards the trees where pegasus and rider had crashed to the ground by an archer’s arrow.

“Cherish--! Cherish, oh please be all right...!”

After ducking through brush and thorns, he collapsed at the fallen mount, gasping for breath as he gazed at the crying form of the rider. He pulled her into his arms, comforting her for the loss of her mount.

“Cherish, oh Cherish...I’m so, so glad that you’re okay,” he mumbled, tangling fingers in purple locks and crushing his lips to hers.

      A self confident laugh as he came to rest a hand on Marth’s shoulder. Having friends in high places was certainly beneficial, if only because it meant he could be a total lazy mooch while they tolerated him.

“No harm, no foul~. Soooo, were you on the way to get dinner or somethin’? It’s that time of day, right~?”

“I’m not going to let my own men harm you, Xane, and I’m quite confident they will understand that you simply pulled a joke on me.”

Blue eyes narrowed a little in amusement. “Are you trying to get a free meal out of me? Fine, fine. You can fix yourself a plate or two. I know Caeda’s baked a cake.”

The surprise assailant gave a hearty chuckle, poised to lean forward with hands on his hips and a wide, fanged grin on his face. 

“Well it’s good for you ol’ Xane isn’t one o’ the bad guys, huh~?” A joking remark as he rocks back onto his heels and takes a small hop backwards to give Marth room to get back to his feet.

“Kidding! I know your guards wouldn’t let someone dangerous in and picking a fight with Kris isn’t anywhere on my bucket list! He’d probably actually smash my sweet little face in!”

Marth rubbed the back of his neck in mild embarrassment, looking off to the side.

“Well, yes, it seems I’m quite lucky. You are as well, as I’m surprised my cry of surprise hasn’t drawn anyone to us to see who has attacked their Emperor.” He smirked, raising an eyebrow.
