hell-fyres:
Matthew’s eyes followed the other man as he moved closer. The vampire was old, that much Matthew could tell, but the angel had long since stopped fearing many things. After all, nothing could beat being struck down from the heavens and stripped of everything he held dear.
“No, not everyone. But having to pay the salaries of those who were affected on top of hiring a whole new set of staff? Well, let’s just say that the budget has not been easy to come by,” the angel’s bright blue eyes held the others much darker ones as he spoke. “Would you perhaps like to contribute more money to this establishment?” he asked with a tilt of his head. Why not ask since they were already talking about money.
Truthfully, he wasn’t trying to inflict fear in the other as he strode forward, but the very fact that he brushed it off like it was nothing had him scoff internally. There was a reason he was as old as he was - no doubt one of the oldest, if not the oldest, vampires alive - despite all of the enemies that he had amassed over the millennia, and it wasn’t because he played nice. Still... he understood that the castle needed help despite being the meeting place of the grand vampire council. And he had to admit... the fallen angel certainly was bold.
With a small chuckle, he took a step forward. “I would be willing to spend more money if I knew that my concerns would be met, but I’m aware that the castle needs more money as a whole to function better. As long as you would be willing to see to it that the castle does a better job of greeting those that are willing to spend good money to come here, I will be willing to propose an increase in the budget that is here... as well as an increase in salary for yourself to compensate for the added stress. After all, it is the least we can do for keeping that collar upon your neck, a tragedy in itself that is.”
