âIt was either that or fall asleep on my desk. Im sure Moody would love me for that.â Alice teased with a laugh. âDinner sounds great. I got some chicken out of the freezer this morningâŠ. or we have some tofu left over from last nightâ
âUgh, I canât believe you work with him. Heâs terrifying.â Mary said with a laugh as she walked into the kitchen, getting a pan down from itâs place in the cabinet. âChicken sounds good, Iâve got peppers and onions Iâll start them in the pan.â
seekerbenjyâ:
âYouâre not boring-never say that. Saying youâre boring is the first step towards actually becoming boring.â
He smiles graciously at the bartender and holds up two fingers.
âWerenât you seeing someone a few months ago? Was that you? Howâs that going?â
âWise advice, Iâll never make that mistake again.â
Mary waited next to him for the drink always glad for a free cocktail.
âAh yeah, didnât really work out. Single again.â Mary said with a shrug.
seekerbenjyâ:
âNot the first time Iâve been flat on my back in public.â Benjy says, trying to laugh but not quite able to catch his breath just yet. He stumbles to his feet with Maryâs help just as the song ends.
âI think I owe you a drink, yeah? And, lucky for you, Iâll throw in wing man services, for free.â
âHowâve you been, anyhow? I feel like youâre usually too busy being mysterious to actually tell me anything.â
âYou do look good from this angel.â Mary said with a grin on her face and a hand on her hip. Helping him to his feet she wipes some of the dirt from his shirt as he speaks.
âIâll take one if youâre offering. Free wing man service? Oh yeah, lucky me.â
âMe? Iâve been alright, same as ever.â Mary shrugged. âMaybe Iâm just boring compared to a professional quidditch player?â
amycus-carrowsâ:
âNoted.â Amycus sighed, âListen, sometimes you need a last-minute pianist for the christmas soirĂ©e and you know a girl, but itâs like the day before the party and she ends up having a dead-beat son in need of a job.â He shrugged as he walked over to the till to start the count for the day. âBut hey, if heâs the one nicking things, thatâs as good a reason as any to lay him off.â
He held up a hand, where the Carrow signet ring rested on his pinky finger. âDonât think Alecto would let me if I tried. She insists sheâs allergic or some shit.â
âSongs?â he asked, surprised, âMusically inclined, are you? Huh.âÂ
âA last minute pianist huh? Sound like an emergency situation.â Mary shrugged not really knowing these kinds of problems. âCanât have the Christmas soiree ruined.â Mary continued to pull chairs down as Amycus walked over the till.
âOf course she wouldnât. Well Iâm here to educate you that cheap jewelry turns your skin green.â
âYeah, I studied music for most of my life. Mostly play piano actually...And sing sometimes.â
thewrong-aliceâ:
âOhâŠ. SorryâŠ.â Alice laughed, emerging from her room, rubbing at her eyes. âI had a banging headache, so I ditched work early to napâ
âYouâre fine.â Mary said with a laugh. âDitch work early, I love that. We should make dinner.â
amycus-carrowsâ:
Amycus hummed in agreement. âDefinitely having Reg look at that then,â he said, as he started taking chairs and stools down from the tables, wipint them as he went. âDâyou reckon itâs the new kid, the gangly one? He seemed shifty, but I owed his mum a favour.âÂ
He paused. âInteresting. Why the green finger? If I can ask?â
âYeah, but the early evening shift.â Heâd gone up to their (thankfully magically sound-proofed) appartment around eleven. âYour last shift was friday, right? Howâs your weekend been?âÂ
Mary shrugged,âTrying not to judge to quickly but I think it started happening about when he started. Of course heâs a know somebody who knows sombody hire.â Mary walks across from him taking the opposite chairs down along with Amycus.
Mary laughed brightly. âIt means itâs cheap jewelry, itâs the copper and the oil on your skin or something. Not exactly a scientist but itâs not magic.â Smiling she adds. âI take it you donât wear fake jewelry often.â
âPretty good, wrote a few songs actually.â Mary felt herself working up the courage to ask. A bit of expectation in her eyes.
âMerlin! Al, you made me jump I didnât know you were home.â
@thewrong-aliceâ
seekerbenjyâ:
âMmm donât worry, mine arenât.â
He twirls her rather poorly and spills a bit of her drink on both of them.
âYouâd think Iâd be tired of people oogling me by now, but Iâm really not. Bet you a drink he hits on us both.âÂ
Benjy twirls Mary again, which causes a large amount of her cocktail to slosh onto the floor-he doesnât notice until his foot slips in the spill and heâs suddenly on his back, looking up at her.
Spinning under his arm Mary pays no attention to the drink on her dress.
âWhy would anyone be tired of oogling, youâve only gotten hotter?â Mary said through a laugh still dancing.
Maryâs not even certain how it happens but Benjy is flat on his back in half a second. âMerlin are you alright!?â She reaches her hand out to him.

âDo you even need to ask Bestieâ Alice giggled, a smile on her face. Sheâd been feeling a little better lately, which was probably a good thing. âWhat better than dancing with my bestie?â
Mary grinned at her friends reply. It was good to see Alice a bit happier for now. Taking her hand a drink in the other Mary lead them onto the dance floor. âDo you have work tomorrow?â Mary asked speaking over the music.
seekerbenjyâ:
-
âAlright, but only because youâre drunk and thatâll make my shite dancing look a a bit better.âÂ
Benjy takes her hand and grins at her.
âBut itâs just a dance MacDonald donât get any ideas, now.â
âYou know that boy at the bar has been staring at us all night.â Mary said with a Grin as she pulled Benjy onto the dance floor with the hand that wasnât holding a cocktail.
âDonât worry my thoughts are pure.â
âCome on dance with me? Please?â Mary held at her hand a wide smile on her face and a bit of rosiness on her cheeks as the drinks were clearly hitting now.
thewrong-aliceâ:
To say that Alice had not been in the best frames of mind in recent days was an understatement. Sheâd hadnât been feeling quite herself since the break up. Of course, she didnât blame Frank. She never would. The break up had been mutual. But she still found herself upset, and hurt. Sheâd distracted herself from the thoughts by burying herself in work. That wasnât healthy either, but it kept her from crying too much. It wasnât really working, and she was finding herself just crying at the worst moments.
The day had been long, and Alice had come home, and hidden away in her room. She was feeling sad, and was still avoiding Frank. Hearing the front door open, she did creep out, at least wanting to be a good room mate. Although she really hadnât been a good one lately. She smiled at Mary. âI ordered pizza for teaâŠ..â Was she trying to make up for being a less that good friend lately? Yes.
@xmaryxmacdonaldâ
It had been a longer day then Mary thought it would when she left mid afternoon. It nice to know that at least Alice would be home, she worked so much it was sometimes hard to catch them home at the same time. Not to mention that sheâd been mostly closed off since Frank broke up with her.
âPizza for tea,â Mary said with a smile as she threw her bang down on the table and hung her coat on the rack. Mary could tell Alice was still upset, the look in her eyes gave it away. Breakups were never easy and Alice was sensitive. âSounds like the best kind of tea for me.â
seekerbenjyâ:
Benjy sticks his lips out in an exaggerated frown.
âThatâs all I get? Same as ever? No wild tales or excursions? Come on, Iâll swap you story for story. I might have hooked up with someone from the German national teeeeeam.âÂ
He lets his voice sing-song, which given his complete lack of singing talent, sounds rather frog-like.Â
âPlease humor me, Iâm so bored that if I go home Iâm just going to put Mingus in different costumes again until he bites me, and my hand just healed.â
He takes a heavy sip of his drink and he can feel the alcohol behind his eyes.
It was difficult not to laugh at his exaggerated frown. He was cute from time to time.
âWhat else do you want Benjy? Iâm waitress.â Mary said with a raised eyebrow even though that was just the tip of the iceberg, they were much more friends now then anything. âWere you at the party here last week?â Mary hadnât seen him but it was unheard of.
âTheyâre throwing a big bash here this month. I saw the contract earlier, that weird beauty brand.â
amycus-carrowsâ:
He narrowed his eyes at her and then pulled a âwhateverâ face. âThatâs smart,â he said, âHonestly, why not just rob the till? Iâll ask Regulus to put a temporary cam or charm or something in the break room. Might even get your shit back. Whatâd they take?â
âEspecially early april. Should pick up soon, though. Could you do the glasses? Iâll put the tables out.â
âOnce in a while I have a good idea.â Mary said with a short laugh. Shrugging her shoulders. âLess supervision in the break room.â Mary answered, at least that what she would think after working here so long. âTips from two weeks ago ago and a ring that will turn their finger green.â
âYeah of course,â Mary said staring to clean and set out the glasses. She watched Amycus begin his work. âWere you here last night?â
