Stiles walks out of Gold’s Gym with his emptied Gatorade bottle hanging from his teeth. His keys have fallen to the bottom of his gym back again. He looks up and notices an unfamiliar silhouette leaning against the Jeep. Against the driver’s door, to be exact. His aggravated sigh is audible, followed by the reassuring jingle of recovered keys.
He has taken out his frustration on punching bags for the past hour, but he hasn’t managed to shake off his foul mood. It’s not going to get better for a few days, but it’s understandable given the upcoming anniversary.
Francis’ little prank about not knowing who he was when he checked in? Yeah, that didn’t help lighten his mood either. He tries not to think about it, focusing instead on the stranger leaning against his car, un-fucking-invited. He takes the bottle out of his mouth with his left hand, finger securely looped into the key ring. Jutting his chin out aggressively, he addresses them in a tone just short of contempt.
“Can I help you with something?”
This has been on my mind for long but I’m gonna do this - please reblog this if you’re comfortable with pre-establishing relationships. I do not mean “met at the grocery store two weeks ago” or “have a common friend”, but rather stuff like “have been best friends since kindergrden”, “go for a beer every friday”, “friends with benefits”, “dated in highschool”, “hate each other’s guts because -insert reason-” etc. Something meaningful (but not necessarily shippy) and I mean with muns/characters you have not interacted with, because I cannot believe I am the only one who prefers jumping right into the heart of the human interaction

I killed him. I mean I didn’t, but. ―but it’s my fault, so, yeah.

The gun is empty, but he knew that the moment he picked it up and took it out of his father’s locked safe. It’s not a service weapon; Stiles would never. He would never, full stop. Sometimes he gets these sickening pangs that are a little less like panic attacks and a lot more like drowning, but he would never seek respite from them in something as permanent as death. Suicidal Stiles Stilinski: a neat alliteration, but as truthful as he was when he told his Dad he was alone in the woods that night. That night Scott got killed. liar liar pants on fire
A noise outside catches his attention; he’s heard it before and it’s its repetitive nature that has him paying it any mind. His brow furrows as he squints out the windshield and windows, looking for the source. His fingers glide over the barrel, dilated pupils scanning the dark horizon. Stiles sees nothing.
That chill he felt minutes ago was not a breeze sneaking in through the cracks of his old Jeep, but rather was a reaction to the shifting magnetic field. Stiles is unaware of it, completely ignorant in regards to the uncharted reality that lies before him.
When he steps out of the Jeep, the empty gun rests on the back of his left hand, finger off the trigger and muzzle pointing downwards. He’s the Sheriff’s son after all. He may know jackshit about staying safe when there’s a murderer around, but he knows gun safety better than any officer on the task force.
The ground he steps on gives nothing away, but it’s the soil from an alternate Beacon Hills Preserve that didn’t claim his best friend’s life.
“If you think you’re being funny, you’re not.” Stiles calls out into the moving shadows, voice wavering. Sure, he’s holding a gun, but it’s an empty gun. If he’s forced to rely on it for protection, whoever’ll be on the other side will find out he’s got no bullets. And that is so not funny. At least he’s got a hell of a right hook. Harris can attest to that.
