ă âĄâ Miyukiâs trademark smile reappeared at her comment, pausing to look at Sayaka. â Noâope~ â She said, a giggle following her simple word of a response. Turning back around, she began to walk again, starting to softly hum to fill any impending silence. She was in her own little world until Sayakaâs voice brought her out of it, glancing over her shoulder as she walked.  â McDonalds? No no, we canât just go anywhere. The place Iâm taking you is incredible! If they deny you, we will go to the second best restaurantâ and no that isnât McDonalds either. â Miyuki was pretty adamant on where she wanted to go, especially when she wanted to ensure this stranger Sayaka was well-fed rather than filling up with fast foods.  âłÂ
Humming, Sayakaâs hand moved up to the back of her neck, scratching her skin with the tip of her fingernails while humming. âSo, uh,â she starts in a rather quiet and awkward manner. Still quite unsure of how she was supposed to act in front of an idol treating her all too kindly--just because she looked like another idol as well. âWhat are you askinâ in exchange, huh? Iâm just tellinâ you in advance, Iâm not a hitman and thereâs no way in hell Iâm going to hurt people in exchange for food in my stomach. But I donât believe in pure kindness either, so surely thereâs a hidden motive behind all of this?â
ă âĄâ  â HuhâŠ? â She should have expected such a skeptical response, given her stature as a former idol and the latter beingâŠnot as fortunate. Still, Miyuki refused to let it deter her from her initial offer. â You may think what youâd like, but let it be known that is not what this is. â Seriousness was laced in her voice, despite the kind and airy tone it usually was. She turned on her heal in the direction of the place she mentioned earlier, giving a slight stretch of her arms before she began to walk, glancing to make sure the latter was following. â If they donât, we shall just go somewhere else~ â It was said in such a matter of fact tone, followed by a nod before focusing on where she was going.  âł
âThereâs just no winning against you, is there?â What an odd girl, she couldnât help but think, although sheâs unable to hold the urge to laugh anyway, letting it out in disguise of a scoff while scratching her nose to hide the tiny hint of smile on her lips. Shoulders squeezing closer as she shoved her hands into her pockets in a tiny hope of warming her fingers, Sayaka cleared her throat with a cough, lips forced to curl into a frown once more. âThis place you talk about. Is it really that good? You know, if youâre so desperate to help feed me, you can just get me takeout McDonaldâs.â
slip up.
Gekikaraâs grin widened as she listened to the scared babble of the female. After a pause of tense silence, she gently shook her head. â You talk too muchâŠ.itâs annoying. But, onto what I wanted to sayâŠÂ â She stood up after a few seconds, wiping her hands on her shirt as she began to circle Sayaka.Â
â Since I cannot risk it, you will remain in my sights. MeaningâŠyouâre coming with us. As you said, you can help us not be seenâŠplus, I am tired of hearing her protesting. â She was referring to Rena, whom had been trying to fight back control as soon as she lost it. â So you shall be staying with us, until I figure out what to do with you. â
She stopped back in front of Sayaka, arms crossed as she stared at her. â If you declineâŠ.then I will thoroughly enjoy ripping your limbs apart~ â She laughed, clearly delighted at the mere thought of it. After a few seconds, she stopped, looking back at her. â SoâŠwhat will it be? âÂ
Us? Eyebrows knotting between, Sayaka looked around her at first, lips pursed into a clearly unhappy frown as she looked up at the girl once more upon making sure that they were all alone. In that case, just what on Earth did this girl mean by us? With another move back, her breath is left trapped within her chest at the next few words the other says. And no matter how exasperated it may sound to others, as she trailed her eyes down to the womanâs bloodied hands, Sayaka could only believe them.
âYou make it sound like Iâve got a choice, when there clearly isnât.â Biting her cheek, her shoulder slumps. âBut Iâm currently living with someone--well, freeloading at her place I mean... No. I mean. If... If you assure me that I will be safe then--â
âI wouldnât say Iâd hate you.â he gave a light shrug as he turned his back against her, continuing his work of emptying the  boxes and setting up the fruits for display ââ or at least try to, as his mother always said heâs not particularly good at it. âI mean youâre so shut off like youâre scared of letting people get close to you. Donât know what happened or who hurt youââ A chuckle. It was a joke, lightening up the atmosphere, though of course as with all his jokes, no one could be quite sure if he meant it or not. ââbut Iâm not gonna make you talk or anything like that.â Sheâs different from him, extremely so, and he was aware that he was one of the lucky ones ââ with a family that loved him and vice versa and a neighborhood that made up for anything thatâs lacking in the household and more. But he also knew that not everyoneâs as fortunate as him and he never questioned why people were the way they were or tried to change them. âYou do you, man.â
Staring down at the food given to her by him, Sayaka couldnât help but put on a frown; guilt suddenly weighing her heart no matter how hard she tried to ignore it with all of the nonchalant acts. âYou know, itâd be easier of us if you would just hate me. Stop caring. I mean, Iâm technically a nobody. And if I were to suddenly jump down a bridge and turn into sea foam, nobody would notice. Thatâs life--câest la vie. Sadly, I know you would. Maybe just for a brief second, maybe for a day, but youâd remember me and care. And I wish you wouldnât.â Maybe sheâd just gotten too used at being alone, or maybe sheâs gotten tired of how most of the people who knew her always shoved to her face how sheâs stealing in order to live. Now that she thought about it, Sayaka couldnât quite pinpoint why she was like this. âThank you for the food, Iâll get going now.â
âPrecisely because weâre acquaintances!â He gave an exasperated sight as he ran his hand down his face as if doing such a thing would wipe off the expression on his face. It didnât ââ itâs still there, sticking to every facial muscle that made his eyebrows frown and his lips curled down in scowl. Sayaka had a habit of pushing people away and thatâs fine and all but Seiji had a habit of weaseling in whether he realized it or not. It wasnât the first time that such a trifle sparked between them and certainly wasnât going to be the last. âI would definitely be sad if anything happen to you because we know each other. Might not win a #1 best friend cup from you but yâknowââ!!â Clicking his tongue in irritation. He was never good in expressing such feelings, as if the strings in his heart had bundled up into an intangible mess that he was too tired to try to undo. But a mischievous smile quickly took over his face. Alway explosive with emotion but always as quick to switch form one to another as well, or perhaps itâs all just an illusion, who knew anymore? âIf you suddenly hear that Iâve been hit by a truck whatâd you do?â
âWhat do you mean what Iâd do? Of course Iâd come and visit, funeral ceremonies always come with snacks and meals to keep the guests full. If youâll still be alive and in the hospital then good riddance, more tomatoes I can steal.â Maybe that wasnât even a joke anymore. Sayaka had programmed her self to never get much too attached with people now. Sure, she could still make jokes here and there and sure she could act as though she and him were the best of friends, but it was all for the sake of, well, for the sake of keeping company for the mean time. The guitarist didnât mind being alone, never minded the idea of having no friends. Rather, it would be much easier for her if Seiji would stop worrying about her too much. âIâm the worst, arenât I?â A quirk of her brow, and another bite of the stuffed cabbage. âItâs okay to hate me now.â
ă âĄâ Miyuki noted the one before her shift, moving away from her after she got closer. Surely not like the Sayaka she knew, but itâs not like she could compare them just because they looked exactly alike. Her attention was brought back to reality, when this Sayaka refused her offer. The trademark smile faltered for a millisecond, confusion flashing across her face before she gently shook her head, laughing. â No no, itâll be my treat. I donât mind, besides itâs not good to go without food for long! â Her smile brightened up again when she looked at her, definitely not one to take no for an answer. â WhatâŠpoor? Nonsense! If I was afraid of such a thingâŠwell, would I be here still talking to you?~ â  âł
Her eyebrows only furrowed at the still all too enthusiastic response from the other, the raven taking a deep breath in a she scratched the back of her head and sighed. âDoes it make you feel good?â She started, unable to keep herself from thinking ill of the supposedly kind gesture, âto give out charity to the needy?  Do you always invite strangers out for curry?â Well, whatever. Sayaka thought to herself. It was free food, and who was she to refuse free food for long? Besides, it was a given that she needed other peopleâs help. She was no different from all the other homeless--she is a homeless person. âLead the way.â A nod of her head, hand moving up to scratch her nose with the back of her finger, âthereâs no telling if theyâll let me in the shop though.â
wtnbmyk:
ă âĄâ  â OhâŠthen maybe that wasnât the word I was looking forâŠÂ â Her smile changed to a pout for about a second at the thought, but it quickly became a smile once again.  â Nope, not scared at all! It is strangeâŠbut when does anything in life make sense? â She laughed, taking one step closer to prove she wasnât afraid. Even if it wasnât the Sayaka she knew, she still felt comfortable talking to her. Maybe it was dangerous, but maybe Miyuki needed a risk in her life right now. â Say, are you hungry? I was heading to the curry shop that just opened, you should come with me! â  âłÂ
For an idol, the brunette was indeed odd, and though she seemed to make an effort to show that she wasnât treating Sayaka any different than the rest, the guitarist moved to the side anyway, keeping distance between herself and the other. âIf it needs any spelling out, I donât make as much money as you do for me to leisurely spend them away. Sorry, but Iâll have to refuse the offer. Thanks for inviting me though.â Fixing the guitar on her shoulder once more, Sayaka crinkled her nose. âYou know, you should be careful around me -- might get my poor on you, you know?â
If anyone in the train station had been staring at the odd android, she would never have noticed; curiously focused on an unopened lunchbox as if gold laid inside instead of food. The bento had been a freebee from her workplace, they were allowed to eat basic lunchboxes during breaks â though, Kara had opted to stop after the first try. To someone like her, it wasnât a matter of taste, but texture. And nothing in the lunchbox held a texture that she enjoyed. I should give this to someone. She concluded to herself, finally looking away. But, who?
As the thought passed her mind, she just happened to turn her head. A young woman caught her eye. Didnât she often come to the station to play her guitar? To Karaâs knowledge, people usually played instruments in public for spare money or to be discovered. What if it was the latter? Her legs were faster than her thoughts, however, as the android was already up and headed towards the musician. Taking a coupon for the bento shop out of her pocket, she decided to be tactful about this.
âHi thereâŠâ Approaching the guitarist, she gave a small smile before holding out the coupon. âI work for a place called âBreak Time Bentoâ and thisâll probably sound a lot like a sales pitch but,â Come on Kara, get to the point. âThis is a coupon for 15% off your first bento, although I want to give you this on the house.â It was then that she held out the bag. That was tactfulâŠright?
The station wonderfully served as Sayakaâs home during the nights where she barely earned much for motels. It didnât fend off the cold winds outside sure, but it was warm enough to keep her from freezing to death and that was all that mattered. She needed to survive, and if sleeping in a place filled with loud people and passing trains was the only way to, then she would gladly take it.Â
And thus, there she was, seated on one of the many benches within the train station, her guitar snugly placed on her lap as she plucked the strings with her long fingernails one by one, idly forming a melody that sounded random to strangers but songs to her. Her eyes had been locked at the pillar before her, completely unaware of her surroundings just as much as the other.Â
âWhat?â The question left her lips as she blinked--it was as if she had been pulled back into reality without her consent, leaving her surprised. Leaving her confused as she looked up at the girl that had apparently approached her without her even noticing. âWhat?â She asked once more, this time, well aware of what was happening as she eyed the coupons held out to her (which she shamelessly accepted. Discounts are a wonderful thing to her after all,) and the bag.Â
A tired smile curled from her lips the moment she realized what was happening--Charity--although there wasnât much she could do other than to accept the strangerâs kindness except-- âSorry, I canât accept this... Unless, youâll accept a song in exchange for the bento?â
âJust come in, I think thereâs some leftover from breakfast just donât steal the tomatoes, Dad got them shipped in just this morning. Fresh and all that and itâs be my head on the plate tomorrow if I let you steal one.â There was a chuckle in his voice as he rolled his eyes, thumb jerking towards the inside of the store as he went in, signaling for her to come with him. âJust sit wherever, Iâd invite you inside but I donât trust you.â Was it a joke? Of course itâs always a joke with Seiji but Sayaka had never been into his house anyway, and he still had to tend the shop. Hands quickly folding the box before putting them aside, he dashed in and reappeared with some food on his hands. âI mean real job, dumbass. Like something with a stable income. Where are you even living right now? Wait do you even have a house?â Now that he thought about it, he never knew where the other lived or even if she had a permanent living accommodation.
There it was. The sermons coupled with kindness that Seiji often basked Sayaka with that sometimes, she couldnât help but feel bad for relying on the otherâs kindness so much and really--had it been any other day, and if only her stomach wasnât in verge of caving in from hunger, she would have rejected the offer but right now, Sayaka would kill to have some food. Another weak smile curled from her lips at the joke, though the raven wouldnât be so surprised if it was the truth. She was, after all, a thief. A homeless that should never be trusted. âWhy so curious?â She answered as she accepted the food with eager hands, grabbing a piece of stuffed cabbage and immediately biting onto it. âIâm still living, still surviving. isnât that the important thing about life? âsides, you shouldnât bother yourself with me that much. Weâre nothing more than acquaintances, arenât we?â
â @scwadaâ
If he had been hit by one, he was sure this would be what it felt like ââ being hit by a sledgehammer that was. Her face was not an unfamiliar one. In fact, it was a face he had seen time and again in the past. Face that would always come with its own background music. Some punk rock revival genre, dirty and grimy like the back seat of someoneâs car. âSayaka, not again.â But he couldnât help but smiling as he called out to her, an empty box he was just about to take inside in hand and an old beanie she must had seen a hundred times ââ at least it felt like that to him ââ on his head. The two had had jam sessions together in the past, introduced by his senior from school and despite her older age, it seemed that she was always the one leeching from Seiji. And he was always too nice to say no to a starving friend. âJust get a job, dude. Part-time or something.â
The sole of her worn-out shoes scuffed against the sidewalk as she stopped on her tracks, a weak, apologetic smile already curling from her lips as she turned to the man who had called out for her and Sayaka couldnât help but curse at herself for being caught. To think that she had once believed that sheâd mastered stealing already. âI do have a job.â She answered as she brought her hand up to her head, lightly scratching her scalp with the tip of her forefinger and her long nails that obviously needed some cutting. âAt the station. Itâs called singing to the public, ever heard of it?â
ă âĄâ Miyuki kept giving thorough glances of familiar stranger before her, still finding it surreal. It got even more so when heard her name. â Woah, you do. HowâŠinteresting~ â Another smile, followed by a small laugh, but she kept talking. â Isnât there a saying that you have a doppelganger out there in the world? Seems hers is closer than I thought. â She gave a near-affirmative nod, switching the purse that was slung on her right arm to her left. â Hmm, but to answer your first question; Iâm not disappointed. Just intrigued~ â âł
Her nose crinkled at the mention of doppelgangers, knowing well that those ghosts, or whatever they were, never resulted to good endings in stories. âDidnât you know that if doppelgangers meet each other, one of them has to die? Best be careful, eh? Wouldnât want to accidentally kill your capân now, would you?â Odd, Sayaka huffed as she slumps her shoulders down, relaxing just a tad bit. âArenât you weirded out or something? Or scared?â She was a homeless after all--and very rarely does a homeless ever have any good images to richer people. Heck, some would even avoid her as though she was the plague.
ă âĄâ Her eyes scanned the female before her, as if she didnât believe the words that escaped the one she thought she knew. After a moment of doubting, she deducted she wasnât lying. Miyukiâs mouth curled into a smile, almost like an automatic reflex at this point in life. â You might have a point. My apologies, you look so much alike, it canât be helped. â She almost sing-songed, clearly in good spirits at that moment. âł
âIâm used with it.â A dismissive wave of her hand, uncomfortably shifting the sling of her guitar case on her shoulder as she stared at the former idol before her. Any other Japanese and they might have begged for an autograph or a photo together with the other female, but Sayaka couldnât care less--rather, she had no phones for selfies or markers for autographs. âMust have disappointed you, eh? Though if it makes you happier, I think I have the same name as her. Let me guess... Yamamoto Sayaka, yeah?â
âDo I⊠know you from somewhere?â
Hands shoved into her pockets as she walked along the busy streets of Osaka, Sayaka halted on her tracks, eyebrows up as she turned to the voice behind her andâshe would have to be an idiot to not be able to figure out who the girl was. Thereâs a lack of make-up, but the girl barely put any on in the few posters the raven had seen anyway and besides, she could already figure out who the girl was talking about. With a deep breath in, Sayaka took a step so she could properly face the other; shoulders slumping and limps curled into a lopsided smile as she gave her the simplest response she could give, âwould she wear the same clothes Iâm wearing right now?â
