plot drop ❆ ~ elsa one shot ~
the air feels thick, elsa thinks to herself, as she walks to her car for the first time after the rain storm had finally passed. the storm was been unepxted, and caused some serious rainfall, flooding her walkway. she narrowly avoids the puddle and moves her hand to clear the water with a simple flick of her wrist, but she freezes. maybe a bad choice of words, but there’s really no other way to describe the feeling. nothing. nothing happened. she tries again. the water stays where it is. her hand is shaky as she pushes her key in and rushes back inside, running up to the glass of water from the night before when she had passed out on the couch. her fingers touch the glass, trying to manipulate and move the liquid inside. turn it to ice. nothing happens. the only result is from her jolted movements as the water sloshes around the cup.
she’s startled. the glass falls from her hands and crashes to the ground, but she barely hears it with the ringing in her ears, so it very well have made no sound at all. she’s not sure what she should do. call anna? no. absolutely not. call work and tell them she’s sick today? no one would be there, she was usually the first one there and last to leave, and still had to get out somehow. WITHOUT her powers at that, she wasn’t sure how that was going to work, feeling like she had to try again. she bursts into the kitchen in a flash and turns on the sink, hoping to freeze it in motion, but the water runs like normal. normal. what a word.
this wasn’t normal. she didn’t know normal. she didn’t know life without her powers.
she hated how anxious, and yet how calm this situation was making her feel.
it wasn’t permanent. but that only made it worse. where was it? where did it go and when would it be coming back? would it be worse then before? uncontrollable? like when she was a child... a teenager..
her fingers were picking at her lip involuntary, dropping it when she realized she had been zoning out, wondering what to do. how did she go on from here?
maybe go back to sleep, and see if this was a wonderfully confusing nightmare dressed as a dream. or vice versa.

Small giggles escaped Hoon’s lips as she spoke, it made him feel good to know that he wasn’t the only socially awkward duck around. “Hi Elsa,” he responded sticking his hand out to her. There weren’t many times he had been introduced to people and most of the time those people were museum directors or such and always required handshakes. In this moment he wasn’t sure the protocol but felt like it was better to do so and regret it instead of not and seeming room. “I’m Hoon,” he stated while shaking her hand awkwardly. “What is it that has kept you from being outside today?”
elsa eyed the other’s hand briefly, always a little cautious about shaking other people’s hands, self conscious about her own more than she was about the other person. but she didn’t want to scare away the only person she had spoken to in days, taking his hand quickly so he wouldn’t notice anything was off (or that she was oddly colder to the touch than most people) before dropping her hand back to her side. “oh, tons of paperwork,” she replied to hoon’s question with a tiny sigh, “but, that’s what happens when you run your own business, i guess. some days you don’t get to get outside very much.” or ever, if you were her, but there were days she missed being outside with the horses, longing to go on a long ride, away from everything. “what about you?” she was happy to change the subject, get it off of her and ask about him, turning to hoon with a questioning look. “what’s kept you inside?”

she’s nervous. it’s not like her to be this nervous. anna had always been the cheery one, especially when it came to any chance to see, or at least be close to her sister. she adored elsa – this hadn’t changed at all. but now everything is just– different. it’s just been so long since they seen each other and it all changed when she left. and she can’t help but feel nervous and overthink everything. which, of course, makes her lose track of time. damn it ! she’s late !
anna puts her hair in a quick, sloppy braid and walks as fast as she can to their agreed meeting spot. her chest tightens as she sees elsa running to her, but just as soon as the older woman puts her arms around her– she just melts into the hug, trying to take in every detail of that brief moment - elsa’s touch, the smell of her skin, their height difference – trying to register that this is real, that her sister is here with her. “ hey. hi elsa.” she whispers, turning her gaze to the floor, feeling shy all of a sudden. it’s good to feel elsa is watching out for her. she wonders what elsa thinks of her now– and she does the same and examines the other woman. “ i’m— i’m okay. i’m good. how are you? ”
how are you? it was always a loaded question for elsa, depending on the day and how her mental health was doing, but today was a less dark day than others, and even though she still felt her nerves lingering ever so slightly under the surface, they seemed to dissipate with the presence of anna. “i’m good,” she responded softly, and meant it, giving anna’s shoulder an affectionate squeeze with one last look over, accepting that the girl wasn’t lying or hiding anything from her, straightening out her clothes as she stood up. “so... how are you? how was your holiday?” elsa had stayed far away from any parties and had buried herself in her work during the holiday season, as was typical for her, but she sort of regretted it, the familiar feeling of guilt threatening to boil up. “did you do anything significant?” she raised a curious brow, wanting to catch up with her sister, like any normal sisters would do. “see anyone worth mentioning...?”

A very tall blonde hit him and it startled the pink haired boy a lot. Working in a dark, dingy room he rarely ran into people and no one ever ran into him. He was very surprised to have someone talking to him now, even though he a moment ago had asked them if they were okay. “Oh no, please you’re fine, don’t apologize.” A sweet smile appeared on his face, and he looked up at the sun and back at her, “I can understand that a lot. I don’t get out much and needed the warmth.”
“It seems you did too,” he cooed.
elsa could very much relate to what the other was saying, a tiny, almost inaudible laugh escaping her. “i don’t get out much anymore either. but, i guess that’s the way things go.” she was glad for the excuse to stop and take in the warm rays knowing he wasn’t hurt or bothered, able to fully enjoy it for a moment or two. “thank goodness, i’m glad you’re alright.” this time she shut her eyes knowing she wouldn’t be running into anyone, taking a deep inhale, trying to find the sense of calm she so desperately sought after. “i’m sorry again. thankfully there’s enough sun to go around.” she opened her eyes, eyeing the man. “i don’t think we’ve met before, but i feel like i should introduce myself after almost knocking you down. i’m elsa.”
now that the new year’s party was over, sun resumed her usual schedule. after she made her first book purchase of the year, she walked out of the library and smiled at nothing in particular. “ i have a feeling that this year is going to be great, ” she said, then looked at the person next to her. “ happy new year, by the way. ” ( @fantasiafallsstarters )
at the sound of a soft voice elsa turned her head, spying the girl she had seen when frequenting the library herself, a nice place to find solitude in town when she felt like hiding away or finding some much needed solace, and clearly the girl felt the same way. “yes... happy new year,” elsa calmly repeated the sentiment back at sun, offering a shy smile. “i know you, i’ve just never introduced myself. but i see you at the library all the time.” elsa was glad to see the girl was doing well.

f i d g e t y. elsa knew she was being fidgety, a mixture of excitement and nerves as she twisted the bracelet around her wrist back and forth, searching for anna in the distance. nothing yet. elsa wasn’t sure why she felt nervous to see her own sister, something other people might find silly. nervous to see your own sister? ridiculous! except the two of them weren’t like other siblings, and it had been quite a while since the last time, hoping the excitement won out against the nerves.
elsa had agreed to meet in town, slightly nervous around all the people but as soon as she spied the top of anna’s head, a smile broke out onto her face, quickly making her way through people to greet her, worries forgotten for a moment. “anna! hi!” she threw her arms around her sister without a second guess, pulling the other into a brief hug, pulling back and examining the younger girl with scrutiny. “how are you?”
~sunshine breathes
Hoon’s pale skin glowed in the sun, having spent most the day in the dusty stacks of the museum, it needed some vitamin d. The boy also needed to stretch and breathe, he was surprised that he never had been diagnosed with asthma with how much old particles the boy breathed in every day. Lifting his arms in the sky, his sweater pulled up showing a few inches of his bare, toned stomach. There was a few more hours of his shift, but he planned on wasting his hour lunch break standing in the sun or laying on the grass.
It was in the moment he was enjoying himself that he noticed someone near him, “oh, I’m sorry, am I in your way?”
elsa was unsure how long she had been awake for at this point in time, likely nearing the 26 hour mark, and she was starting to fade, feeling her eyes get heavy with each step. she needed to rest. rest never came very easy, but when it did, she knew she would feel recharged. ‘the sun feels nice,’ she thought to herself, tilting her head up and eyes closing, humming softly to herself. she felt relaxed in this moment, a rarity, a content smile pulling on her lips. that is, until she almost tripped into another person, cursing as she caught herself. ‘this is why you don’t close your eyes and walk,’ she scolded herself internally, holding her hands out to the stranger. “i am so sorry. are you okay?” her face was bathed in concern, though he seemed alright thankfully. “i think i was in your way. the sun’s out and i got.. distracted.”
