yeah we aren’t posting that often anymore. hOwEvEr, this is because there has been some major changes to the conlang, like stated in the previous post. one change is that the conlang is renamed to Kostfjer. an other change is that, as you MAY be able to tell by the name, is that the phonotactics have changed alot. the third change is that the logograms are in a comepletely different style made by Discord mod Elemenopi, and it looks a lot better tbh. oh also nearly every single character now has a different pronunciation and meaning so yeah see ya

Guess who’s back?

It’s us and Xosen! The project died for a few months, but I think it is time we got back up and running. This time, both of us are more experienced in conlanging. We have decided to rework this big boy to make it more natural. Xosen will start this time as a proto-language that would have been located somewhere new Kazakhstan. Obviously, this means we will be changing a lot of things. Likely, any work you actually tried to put in to learning this(I would be surprised if it was any work at all) is going to be almost all lost. We will try to post often, but I am not sure if we will actually get daily posts. Last time that ended up being a lot of stress and we both ended up quiting quickly.

Okay so if you can read this, I’d be surprised. I want to teach new words, and somewhat quickly with how fast I make new words. So here are three new ones.

Translation: He doesn’t like fruit

Direct: He/She/It no like fruit

Romanization: Hon no vezcöz wen

IPA: /Hon no veʒø~ʌz wen/

No/not: no

Like: Vezcöz

Fruit: Wen

The word no always goes before things it modifies, unlike other adverbs and adjectives.

Until I come out with more grammar, sentences will take this general format of introducing a new word, or several, every sentence. The more words, the better to make more sentences.

No new grammar so far, so I’ll teach a new word and make a sentence at the same time. Like usual, try to guess the meaning and pronunciation of the sentence, at least the parts you know.

Translation: I ate the cherry.

Direct: I eat previously cherry.

Romanized: Jan zces vöt Xoscö

IPA: /jan ʒes vø~ʌt Xöschø~ʌ/

The second example sentence.

Romanization: jan hös xosen

IPA: /jan hø~ʌ pyn xosen/

Translation: I speak Xosen. 

Literally translated: I speak currently Xosen

So I think I said before that I would teach you some grammar while doing these sentences, and I plan to do that. I’ve decided to make the word order SVO(or Subject Verb Object). So this means jan(I) is the subject, hös pyn(speak[currently]) is the verb, and Xosen is the object. Specifically the direct object.

The translation is: ‘I ate’

Directly it’s: ‘I eat previously’

Romanization: ‘jan zces vöt’

IPA: /jan ʒes vø~ʌt/

It’s the noun we’ve all been waiting for. I should’ve posted this one as the first logogram but it’s to late now so here it is! This is the noun ‘Xosen’. Pronounced [xosen], and /xosen/ in IPA.

Another update

So after ThatAsianNerd left, I was just kinda working at a slow pace, and we talked a little bit. At their request, I made a discord server for Xosen which gets updated much quicker than the Tumblr, at the cost of inconsistent uploading. Shortly after, he decided to join back in again. He mostly left because I am horrible and was basically just answering a few questions, and putting all the workload on them, but now I am actively working on it with him so that’s nicer. Yes, I did mention a discord server, and yes, I will give you a link. Please PM me or ThatAsianNerd for a link. ThatAsianNerd goes by a few different names now. Haydemations, and Hejdän.

The noun ‘bind’. Pronounced [täb], and /tæb/ in IPA. 

If you put the noun kot, and this one side by side, you get the word ‘book’. Pronounced ‘kottäb’ or /kotæb/ in IPA. Litteral translation is ‘leaf bind’

The noun ‘leaf’. Pronounced [kot], and /kot/ in IPA. After these nouns, I will HOPEFULLY be able to start doing a few example sentences.

The adverb ‘afterwords’. Can also be used as the future tense marker. Pronounced [dä], and /dæ/ in IPA. The final adverb/tense marker for this set. We now have enough to start working on example sentences. That part was a lie, I started working on example sentences and realized we need some nouns to act as objects, so I’ll do those, THEN the example sentences. I’m so sorry I keep delaying the sentences. On the bright side, I will teach some simple grammar while doing the sentences.

The adverb ‘currently’. Can also be used as present tense marker. Pronounced [pyn], and /pyn/ in IPA.

This is the adverb ‘previously’, and can be used as the preterit(past) tense marker. This goes after the verb it modifies. This character is pronounced as [vöt], and /vø~ʌt/

The verb ‘to walk’. Pronounced [vas], and /vas/ in IPA. I just remembered that I also need to add some adverbs to mark tense on verbs, so example sentences will be after that.
