fyi. being intensely self critical is not the same as being self aware. if you’re really self aware you’ll be aware of the good stuff too. just in case anyone needs to hear it. don’t mistake constantly dissecting what you see as your flaws for some kind of personal enlightenment.
Aunty Scripty!!!! You are back!!! When ever I watch doctor react to The Pitt it made me think of you. You were the first place I learn about medical accuracy. Have you watch The Pitt?
I still haven't seen it, although it sounds AMAZING! It's one of those "I have X subscriptions but show is on Y platform" things. But if it ever comes to a platform I do pay for, I'll watch the hell out of it.
Hi Aunt Scripty! Welcome back, have some cats
Tell them I love them very much, please.
What’s your OG fandom?
Buffy. Fun fact: my wife and I would never have met without Buffy fanfic ❤️
love you Mrs Scripty
not to be all "these two words will change your life" or whatever, but I promise you, programming in "good catch!" as your response to people correcting you/pointing out errors or whatever removes so much friction from interactions, and comes with a delightful happy meal toy of "not hating yourself so much for making mistakes"
I use "I stand corrected" a lot. The mild silliness of the outdated language makes it work for me.
I had a high school science teacher who would say "if you admit you're wrong and change your mind..." and the whole class would respond back "... you aren't wrong anymore!"
And when a kid would assert something incorrect In class, he wouldn't tell them they were wrong, he would help lead them to the right answer and then when they admitted/ accepted the new information, he'd say "now we're both right! Nice work!"
For a bunch of gifted kids whose identity and reputation often was staked on knowing more than most people, it was a great safety valve. No shame in making a mistake, because if you accept it you have learned! Now you are smarter! It always made me feel better.
Basically I like when there’s garlic and onion

what if you combined a pressure cooker and a deep fryer and made a pressure fryer, the most dangerous kitchen implement in history

I'm thinking a lot about isolation and loneliness recently. And how much my own behavior contributes to it. I complain (to myself) about being alone, but I never take the risk of being seen. I don't make anything public. I don't... create. Share. Engage.
I used to. But I stopped. No wonder the friends stopped. How can I expect connection when I don't bother to make it?
So... fuck it. AMA. Ask box open, or DMs, or posts/replies.
This might be the funniest reply I’ve ever seen in my life
I AM WHEEZING
PLEASE STOP REBLOGGING THIS OMFG
Hi, just stopped by to say that even after all these years, the scriptmedic blog is still one of my go-to starting places whenever I'm writing something where a character gets hurt (which is. um. frequently. but in my defense it's just fun to make characters suffer sometimes! Admittedly I do have a tendency to fudge things for the sake of the story more than i should even after i've checked how it's supposed to work, but I hope you can forgive me for my sins :Þ). Sometimes i do run into cases where I have to look somewhere else because either what I'm looking for didn't happen to get covered on the blog, or there's some stupidly specific detail I need that just never did come up in an ask because it's only relevant in some really weird circumstances, or stuff like that, but still, it's nice to have it as a place where I can go first, instead of having to throw myself to the mercy of google every time I need to look up some injury or other medical stuff for a fic!
So. yeah. I don't really have anything important, I just wanted to stop by to say thank you for the scriptmedic blog, and that it's still a really useful resource to me! <3
Awwww! Thanks so much, this absolutely made my day! ❤️
On April 13, 1985, Danuta Danielsson - a Jewish-Polish woman whose mother was taken to a concentration camp in WWII - hit a local neonazi with her handbag in Växjö, Sweden.
Update: The neonazis were subsequently expelled from the city, and a statue was erected in her honor.
This week 34 years ago, Danuta Danielsson demonstrated how much respect fascists deserve.
Well played, Danuta Danielsson.
And good aim.
She hit them so hard they were banished from that land forever. Iconic

my mom said we can hide in the woods, cast ancient spells, be embraced by moss and befriend eldritch creatures if it's ok with your mom
There's definitely some story mileage in a British dude with no cultural sensitivity whatsoever still wanting to return every artifact that Britain has ever stolen out of pure self-interest because one of those motherfuckers is Maximally Cursed and he can't tell which
