positive: charming, clementine is a charmer. always has been. she's the kind of girl you want to know. she makes you feel special just to be in her presence in a certain kind of way. she gets what she wants out of life through a mix of sweetness and charisma, plus her never ending drive. ambitious, clementine is a very driven person. thanks in part to her mom's eternal push for her to make her own life (and help fund her family's lifestyle that's been slipping behind the scenes). her mama's dance company raised her, and the pageant circuit trained her to push harder and make the most out of life. negative: vain with a capital v, clementine is very stuck on her appearance. it comes from a lifetime in the dance world. she can get a bit neurotic when it comes to things like her skincare routine, but she'd deny it's anything but a routine. routines are good for you! secretive, clementine is definitely someone who will keep your secrets, which is good, but she's also someone who keeps a lot of her own. you can know her and not ever really know her, while feeling like you do. she keeps a lot to herself. from big things to a lot of small ones that don't even matter.
BACKSTORY
i've got a taste of the glamorous life
clementine penelope brandt grew up primarily in the hamptons with her older sister clara jane brant and her mom and dad. daddy dearest lives clear across the house from her mom, ever since clementine was 7 or 8, and that's the way they both like it. there was a time they spent a lot of time in the city, but frankly the lifestyle out by the water is more chill, and allows her parents to say they're "working in the city" when they want to go see someone who's not each other.
her mom runs a dance studio out in the hamptons, with popup workshops in manhattan on a regular basis, and it's fairly successful financially, but the bread and butter is the awards that have been brought in, especially by her two daughters. clementine's daddy's money is used for funding the costumes and travel and all of that good stuff.
her father likes to pretend he doesn't come from money (cough cough vic.toria be.ckham what car did he drive you to school in), and while his parents were not as well off as some of these other families they live around, he's definitely gotten a head start on life. jameson brandt has been running his company since he was fresh out of college, founded with a few friends and seed money from some investors they scored, and he's definitely made an incredible living for himself that allowed him to take his wife on beautiful vacations and buy that gorgeous mansion in the hamptons. who's to say they would've never been married if not for clara jane-
clementine and clara and her mother were always well dressed, always poised, always playing the part of the happy beautiful family. her mama always taught her to look good. to say you're grateful and act like you're supposed to be there. no matter what. that would come in handy down the line when things started to slip.

as clementine became a teenager, she became very aware of social media, and frankly, while there was concern from her father about 'bad press' and that whole forever window into her childhood... she got her mama's approval to start posting on what was then musical.ly and became tiktok, and she started gaining a following even back then. she'd film in the dance studio or on the beach with her friends, and backstage at her pageants. teen miss new york anyone? her growing following eventually became a ticket to an income, an income that her mother encouraged her to pursue harder.
mama's always pushed clementine. whether that be in dance or in her social media endeavours. it took a few years for her to figure out why she pushed so hard... but as she decided to enter the local qualifier for miss new york, she realized she was going to need that scholarship money... when her mama, drunk one night, let it slip to clara and her over dinner that their father's company was actually on the verge of going under.
so she practices her routine harder than ever so she can nail that talent award, fixing the choreography as best she can to be pitch perfect. involved in cheer at her high school so she can get a scholarship that way too, and that's how she ends up at this of all colleges. it was the one where she got the best cheerleading scholarship. years of pageant scholarships are adding up too, helping her cover her own damn tuition, no thanks to her parents, who are pretending to still be happy and fine as can be.

clementine is pretending too. what else can she do? being the happy smiling cheerleader, the pageant queen with a heart for service and a mind for learning. the dancer who feels the music in her body. she spent two years traveling before she arrived at college, trying to figure out what she wanted and working on her skills. deferring enrollment to prepare for college, to prepare to fake it until she makes it. the last thing she wants is an mrs. degree. or to have to rely on one. she simply won't do it.
her women & gender studies major surprises a lot of people, but she finds it incredibly worthwhile. she writes about the power of social media and the influence on young girls, and gives presentations for girl scout troops and the like. somewhere under the daily makeup and skincare routine is a passionate feminist, even though she's far from the perfect one. she knows she's not doing it for herself. she's doing it for society. but she's been brought up to do a lot for society instead of herself. for one parent or for the other.
she's done letting her parents tell her what to do, so even if her college major is a quieter rebellion, she is pursuing dance as well. she wants to make her world bigger than her mom's ever was, and get a greater understanding of the world itself, which frankly studying for her pageant interviews helps with a lot too. she's learned a lot from that process. frankly, the world would be surprised to know how much she knows about politics and history and the like.
don't mess with her- clementine is a sweet girl, and she loves fiercely, but she's not playing about her life. she posts every day on socials, and she has a heavily populated google calendar including the gym and the dance studio, a yoga class on sundays, and even her friend dinners are pre-calendared out. don't pressure her to break her schedule- she may have a nervous breakdown. don't let the sugary smile fool you. she'd be so on edge if anyone would let her.
