N/A: Finally back with a new chapter after like an eternity... Sorry I'm not that productive and college was overwhelming af, I'll post more after the end of my exams (hopefully) I hope you like this chapter, I'm already working on the next one!
Your fingers feel funny now against his. Your gaze is fixed on your joined hands and intertwined fingers, his pale skin against yours, soft, tender. You've never felt anything like this. At least not with him. You used to keep a certain distance, not because you loathed the idea of touching each other but rather because you thought friends couldn't touch each other like that. Holding hands would've been weird. But not anymore. Maybe your deal and everything that happened after is the reason behind it, maybe it's just that something shifted, or maybe it's just it was never that big of a deal...
Your cheeks start to hurt, you have to bite the insides of it to let go of a bit of the aching feeling you have from smiling too much. Your fake boyfriend is laughing with your mother, it seems she dropped the walls she had built between her and Sunghoon and is finally willing to make space for him in your family. It stings to think that this is all fake, Sunghoon could've fit just right as your real boyfriend, your father seems to enjoy talking to him. Having him beside you is natural. Easy, almost healthy, almost real.
And you actually like the feeling of his lips against yours.
Just thinking about it makes you bite a smile.
Too bad he isn't your boyfriend. But having him as your friend is just as good, really, you get to have him this close because you're friends after all.
"No way she actually has a boyfriend."
You turn around on your chair a proud grin already drawing on your face as you recognize the voice of your cousin. When you're fully turned toward him you recognize his useless tall figure, kids grow up too fast nowadays. Behind him, his mother, your aunt, elbows him as she scolds him urging him to "shut his mouth and say hello".
Sunghoon stands up, holding out his hand to your cousin and the judgmental expression on his face. Both men present themselves even though one is more charismatic than the other, your fake boyfriend then introduces himself to your aunt, she's smiling from ear to ear and it's easy to read on her face that she is very pleased to meet him, or she really likes the fact that Sunghoon looks absolutely fabulous in the chic cardigan he is wearing tonight.
When they're both done asking how Sunghoon is, and how you two met, and how much you pay him to stay with you, your aunt and cousin finally decide to greet you. Your aunt hugs you tightly, congratulating you for having a new boyfriend, then your cousin looks at you, really stares, as if he smelled something weird.
"Are you staring like that because you're the bitchless one of the family?"
Your cousin scoffs "You wish, I have more game than you'll ever have."
"Right..." You roll your eyes at him.
When the group sits down around the table, everyone talks to Sunghoon. Your aunt asks him what he does for a living and it's your father that answers instead of him. Then your cousin harasses him and it's your turn to answer questions from your aunt while your cousin and your fake boyfriend talk with your mother.
The table is a mess of words, it could be overwhelming, it would probably be if you didn't feel Sunghoon's support, but he never stops holding your hand, shooting glances toward you, one of his legs brushes yours every now and then, all these discreet gestures acting as if to remind you that he is here, that you're still in his mind. And you do the same for him, because if you need him, so does he.
After a little while, the waiter comes to your table to take an order, cutting all different conversations around the table. Setting a silence that feels like a checkpoint. The half time of a football play during which you can finally drink after running after a ball during 45 minutes. Sunghoon lets out a deep sigh that only you seem to notice. Your grip on his hand that never broke ever since you got here tightens softly, a sweet sign of your support that makes him turn his head toward you with a faint smile that could melt the permanent snow on the Everest.
Something new appeared inside his gaze ever since you helped him to shave, maybe it's because you can kiss each other now, maybe it's something else that has a deeper meaning but you don't want to investigate it, you're too focused on that spark, the soft relief on his face when he looks at you, the slow movement of getting your intertwined fingers closer to his face just to kiss the back of your hand. You tilt your head, softening while holding his deep gaze, drowning in his dark eyes that appears to be as reassuring as a light in the dark.
"Hey let me take a picture of you two for grandma'! She dodged us to go to a concert tonight, let's make her jealous!" Your aunt basically screams while taking her phone out of her pocket just to point its camera toward you.
She gestures you to stand closer, Sunghoon understands it, he takes his hand away from yours to tug your chair closer than him in a quick movement that makes you jump. You were already close but now you clearly feel the heat radiating from his body. He slides his arm around your shoulders, holding you even closer as you feel your cheeks starting to burn, since when is he so smooth with things? Him that hates to stand too close to people. Yes it's part of your couple training but it comes so naturally that you can't help but let your mind wander somewhere dangerous. Somewhere friendship doesn't belong to anymore.
You wrap an arm around his waist, letting a sheepish smile grow on your face as you smile at the camera. The loud sound of taking pictures resonates around the table, somehow louder to your ears than all the noises of the whole restaurant.
"Kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss..." Began to chant your father along with your aunt, both of their smiles wide on their amused faces.
In just a millisecond you exchange a glance with Sunghoon, reminder that you can kiss now, and you're maybe both too excited about the idea of your lips touching again. Your hand reaches for his chin as he dives toward you, closing his eyes to savor the few seconds during which you'll exchange a kiss. His plum lips greet yours with a gentleness that makes you crave for more, you don't even realise it but you both move your lips, maybe to make it more real, but mostlikely because you can't be satisfied with just a smack.
Slowly a feeling grows inside your stomach making you sick, but you don't want a cure to it, if you could you'd like to feel like that all the time. He holds you tighter, you do too, and if it wasn't for the loud 'click' from your aunt's phone, you would've jumped on Sunghoon's lap just to intensify your kiss. But you don't, instead you break the kiss, licking your lips on the way as you finally remember that you're at the restaurant and that your family is staring at you right now.
You know you're a different shade of red when your eyes meet your parents', your father tilting his head with a softness that only a happy father has, and your mother's features softening once again. They believe in your couple now, you know it, and somehow it leaves a bitter taste of what could be in your mouth.
"Get a room." spits your cousin before drinking from his glass.
Everyone turns to look at him, your parents and Sunghoon immediately begin to laugh at his remark while you and your aunt scold him, his mother slapping his arm causing water to fall on him. It serves him right anyway.
Your aunt shows you the picture, both your faces are pinkish. The way you're holding each other shows emotions, feelings even.
Your fingers grazed your lips as you try to hide your smile.
Soon enough everything is forgotten, plates are being exchanged around the table and the night flows just as you wished. From time to time your eyes find Sunghoon's, playful, and paired up with a boyish grin and a slight squeeze of your hand under the table. He enjoys the new tension between you two, and you can't get enough of it either.
When you part ways with your aunt and cousin they both congratulate you for having such a new boyfriend, much better than the last one. Your mother doesn't say it to you but you know she feels the same when she wishes you both a good night, she never hugged Sunghoon before but tonight she did.
It's weird to think that it's the last night you'll spend sleeping beside Sunghoon. Probably not the last in your life but the last of an undefined time. You stare at the bed. The space beside yours is still empty as you hear the sound of water coming from the bathroom attached to your room. Your finger traces the lines of your wrinkled sheets.
You roll to fall on your back as you take a deep breath, thinking about tonight. The smiles of your parents, the laughter of your cousin as he was talking with Sunghoon, both of them got along better than you would've thought. Inside your head one thing is on repeat, Sunghoon fits perfectly in your family. Your hand creeps under your pillow, taking your soft penguin stuffed toy just so you could hold it, to think about something else.
Anything.
Anything but the disturbing feeling that makes your toes curl.
Anything but the souvenir of the numerous dinners with your ex that you ended up avoiding because of the silence of your mother and the short temper of your cousin. There's a flash behind your eyes, the flash of a night during which he literally fought your ex. You should've seen the signs back then...
"Didn't we agree on keeping that thing hidden?"
Your eyes open immediately. Sunghoon is walking toward you, his hair still prisoner of a hairband that he takes off as he gets closer to the bed. His pajamas are plain, not fun, you've seen it before it's no surprise. You're used to seeing him in such a domestic setting, even though you haven't been a fake couple for that long. Now you notice more easily his hair getting longer. Or how his biceps got bigger lately, the faded light of your bedside lamp highlighting the shadows of his muscles, enhancing their shape, forcing your eyes to quickly drift toward the toy inside your arms.
You feel the matress slump under his weight and no word made its way out of your mouth, you just stare at your toy, exchanging with it through telepathy.
"It's our last night together you can handle it just for tonight, don't act like a child." You grumbled, voice low, making sure nobody but him would hear it.
A frown appears between Sunghoon's thick eyebrows, but you didn't see it. You turned to shut the light down. Your back now facing him, the moon as the only source of light in the room. There's something unspoken floating in the air. Each breath you take sounds performative, your eyes are shut but your brain won't let you rest.
You sigh frustration building up inside your body. The penguin inside your arm not doing its job for the first time in your whole life, you can't sleep.
You hear every shift of Sunghoon's position beside you, feel his warmth...
Just as these thoughts crossed your mind you felt something shift, then a hand, an arm, pulling you from behind. Cold fingertips brushing the skin of your tummy without even meaning to. Then warmth again, all over your back, radiating from the arm holding your body, from the quiet breathing sound behind you, the new hand holding your penguin over your own hand.
"It's not the last time we'll sleep together, believe me..." his whispers caress your ear and a long shiver runs down your spine.
With just a slight shift of your position you face him, laying down on your childhood bed, with that handsome man whose angelic features still amaze you, even with the little lighting in the room.
Your eyes travel from his eyes, long eyelashes, soft dark eyes looking at you with something that probably exist between two friends but gets your stomach to twist. Then your eyes fall to the moles on his face, you loved to call moles angel kisses, now you see that angels might've really given him those moles, they make him even more unique, even more him. The travel of your eyes ends at his lips, parted, plump, hydrated, inviting even...
"But since it's our last night here..." he says, voice low, almost intimate. "Can I tell you that you look very kissable?"
A smile creeps on your face, you don't hide it, don't fight back and just give him a peck on the lips, then another, by the third peck you're giving him you feel a smile stretching his lips. You pull back, he chases after your lips, his eyelids heavy. A chuckle comes out of your mouth and you slowly turn back, your back facing him again.
"Let's sleep now so you won't be tired tomorrow." You singsong, licking your lips on the way, feeling electricity run through your whole body.
You hear Sunghoon whine of disagreement but he doesn't fight back, instead he pulls you closer to him, he is the big spoon and you're the little spoon. His heart beats fast against your back, his smell is all over you, your lips stil hold the feeling of his against them and just like that silence settles in the room and your thoughts shuts. The sandman must have passed by and you know you're about to spend a great night.
[...]
Everything went back to normal so quickly that you kind of found it odd not to have Sunghoon around the first days after you got home. Good thing the unease feeling inside your body left. Yeah, it definitely left.
You're back to enjoying your whole bed, not missing the warmth of Sunghoon's body at all... You can hug your penguin stuffed toy freely, nobody will hate on it anymore. You have no stress of not being convincing enough, nothing just you, your empty house, the quietness and your quiet life.
You went back to work, it wasn't thrilling, Sunghoon was absent, he had a meeting the day after you got back from your trip at your parent's and he got cold after that, meaning you couldn't see him at work.
Of course you went to see him, you had bought a ton of medicine just to give it to him. When he opened the door he looked hot, in every way possible. He had a fever, bad fever, that made him hot all the time (temperature wise) he was barely wearing a tank top, always lifting it to ventilate his body and cool it down. As much as you enjoyed the view of his build up body you couldn't let some intrusive thoughts take over in such a moment.
Sunghoon was clingy because of the fever, always asking to kiss you but you had to remind him that he was sick, and as much as you wanted to kiss the pout he was wearing each time you told him no, you couldn't just do it because getting ill wasn't an option. There wasn't any other reason why you rejected his kisses, because after all kissing a friend doen't mean anything, even less in your situation, it doesn't mean anything, you just like kissing each other, no big deal.
These days were really quiet, Rei and Jungwon couldn't hang out for a while either, the first busy being a photograph, the second busy being a professional dancer who has a huge show coming.
You got tired of that quietness, sure it's cold outside, the sky is always grey, the trees are dead, everyone is busy working their asses off, sick, or finding gifts for christmas that is coming soon, but you wanted to do something. Your next con trick regarding your fake relationship was set for a bit after new year's eve so you were left doing nothing until then.
But tonight, you wanted to move, go out just for once. Jungwon was tired, you couldn't force him outside to dance with you at some club. Rei was editing her last photoshoot and was late, you couldn't force her to give up on her job. As far as you knew, Sunghoon was doing beter but was still recovering, you wouldn't try to call him to hang out right now, it would be selfish of you.
Even though you had to go out alone, you decided to get dressed and go out because you can. Sometimes a girl has to grow up and just accept to be her own company. You choosed to wear a red dress, short but classy. You didn't want to try to much, just to feel pretty, tonights wasn't about anybody but you.
For once you even decided to take your own car to go to the bar-club that you like to go to sometimes with Rei. It's reassuring to go somewhere you already went, and it's not so far from your place, meaning you won't have to frive for long. It's not that you hate driving or are a bad pilot, you just stress too much when you have a steering wheel in front of you... But for tonight, you'll handle it.
When you got there, the bouncer accepted you inside without asking any question, you were pleased to enter and leave the cold weather for the warmth of the drunken atmosphere of the club.
It's not a messy club. The bar is lightened and has a few chairs where you'll be able to enjoy a few drinks to clear up your mind and heart. The music is great, you recognize the voice of an artist you like as you walk toward the counter to sit and relax.
Your coat slides from your arms as you approach the counter, you settle it on the backrest of one of the high chairs and sit, calling out for a barman politely.
"Y/N?"
You widen your eyes recognizing the man behind the bar, you smile following right away.
"I can't believe I see you here out of all places!"
Intak throws the dish towel he had in hands on his shoulders, it lands on it like he's done it a thousand times. His sleeves are rolled up, he matches the energy of the bar with a hint of something that is just so him. He walks closer to you, very obviously beaming of joy.
You noticed it when you met back at the market last time but it hits you harder how manly he has become, far from the Intak you knew in highschool. He has always been handsome, but now he looks much more confident, more himself. And it makes him more attractive you'd be dumb not to see it. Flashes of Sunghoon appears inside your mind, you wonder how he would look like as a barman, probably very kissable... you bite your smile.
You order a Martini and Intak gives it to you in no time. There isn't anybody asking for a drink after so he stays next to you, you feel the slight weight of his gaze on you, reminding you of the way Sunghoon looks at you sometimes...
Sunghoon isnt tonight's subject he is sick.
Your gaze went up to meet Intak's figure, he wears a shirt with the first buttons opened, showing off his clavicle and just giving a hint of his (probably) muscular body, it reminds you of...
Nobody at all.
Seeing you deep in thoughts, zoning out with your eyes set on him Intak smirks, leaning closer to you, resting on his elbows. "You're following me or what?"
The voice he uses is so obviously flirty that it got you out of your mind. You giggle, shaking your head. "I litteraly live ten minutes away from here."
He raise his eyebrows in surpise. "Really? I've been living here for two years now and I never saw you around before. Maybe it's destiny that made us meet now and back at the market."
You finish the glass of martini in one go, alcohol burning the back of your throat to get pass his hearthrob behavior. If it was someone else maybe you'll be able to andle it without liquor. Somebody with a fangy smile for example?
"Then what? Should we reconnect?" You ask, a chuckle coming out of your mouth as Intak in front of you fills up your glass once again.
His smile widen. Silence settling between you a tiny bit longer. He closes the Martiny bottle and looks at you in the eyes. You already have that hooded gaze that alcohol can give sometimes and that makes you dangerously attractive. Intak throws his head backward before getting his composure back. "I would love that but I fear mister boyfriend 'we're that serious'" he quoted " wouldn't appreciate."
A frown appears between your eyebrows. Why is he bringing back Sunghoon here? You blink, once, the souvenir of the day at the market coming back to your mind. You took advantage of Intak to annoy Sunghoon back then, it worked a bit too well and in the end Sunghoon dragged you away out of jealousy.
That Martini should be really stong to have your mind altered this easily.
Intak stares at you, visibly waiting for an answer as your taken in a torment of thoughts. You definitely shouldn't be thinking about Sunghoon as much as you do right now. He is just your friend anyway, and Intak is hot, you should be only thinking about him. This is litteraly the appeal of your deal with Sunghoon. You play the fake couple in front of your families but can still do whatever you want when you're alone. Right now, Sunghoon isn't your boyfriend, he is your fake boyfriend.
You pass a hand on your face, as if you knew you would regret what you were going to say."I probably shouldn't say that because it's embarassing to admit but..." you lift the glass that Intak just poured you. "We're not actually together."
Intak frowns, it's so obvious that he doesn't understand what you're saying, and you don't really want to think too much about it, you're already feeling tipsy anyway. In the end you just told him everything about the agreement between you and Sunghoon. Keeping quiet about the part where you agreed to kiss whenever you felt like it or the fact that right now you were kind of hoping Sunghoon would've been the one standing on the other side of the counter.
Intak first instict is to laugh at the weird situation you put yourself in. But his laughter is soon replaced by a titl of his head with a knowing smile. "Does it mean you're free?"
His hand brushes yours with a fake innocence that makes you shiver.
"Yeah..." You nod with your head. A puking feeling growing up inside you right at that moment, but you ignore it, it's probably just the Martini anyway. You'll just give Intak your number and forget about this feeling in a few minutes anyway. No need to think too much about it...
[...]
"So you just agreed to go on a date with him?"
"Yeah. We've been texting ever since."
You avoid Rei's eyes. She has a weird ability to read through your behaviour and i makes you uncomfortable for some reason. You don't want her to expose the things you keep hidden deep inside your heart right now, you're standing in queue, waiting to enter the venue where Jungwon's show is about to happen. There is no need to entertain the people around your anymore, you already told Rei everything about your trip to your parents'.
Well you avoided some parts that you thought would be problematic but the main things, she knows.
After staring right at your soul for a good minute, a downturned smile appear on your friend's face. "Well I'm reassured, I thought your relationship with Sunghoon was turning weird."
"Ha ha what? Come on!" Your laugh is a bit too high pitched to sound real, and you reacted way too quick, but you hope Rei doesn't notice. You turn away, holding at the cardboard you made with Rei to show Jungwon some support like it was your support. Your nails digging small crescent shaped holes in the material.
"Is he good looking?" she lifted her eyebrows with a mischevious look on her face, making you giggle as you lifted your phone to find Intak's instagram page.
Rei rushed to grab your phone and take a proper look for herself nodding instantly as she saw the pictures he took during his last trip and where he was shirtless. He's good looking but your mind is elswhere when you look at those pictures... with someone else...
"Looks like you caught a big fish."
You laughed it out, as she took her time to analyse every single picture he posted, she asked about the instagram notes that he posted and everything but what could you be possibly saying, you haven't been paying attention to him nor his instagram account that much. And it has been only two days since you added his socials.
The queue moved a bit, cutting Rei in her inspection, allowing you to answer to his last text.
Intak: Can't wait to take you to a propper date.
You bit your lower lip, it has been so long since you went to a real date, what if you forgot how to behave during a date? You could just check this by asking Sunghoon but the idea makes your stomach twist for some reason. You'll just stick to Rei weird advices.
"Oh my god you're not dead!" Rei suddenly shouted.
You lifted your head from your phone, lifting an eyebrow, curious about the reason why Rei shouted.
Your gaze caught a tall lean figure, and in just a few seconds your eyes melted in softness.
Sunghoon was there, looking much more alive than last time you saw him, a healed smile growing on his lips as he got closer to both of you.
"It takes more than just a flu to kill a strong man like me." He proudly says as they do their secret handshake only them know (you know it obviously)
"Not waht Y/N told me..." Rei adds.
It's true that you told her that he was extremely sick and couldn't get away from his bed, he even told you himself that he didn't think he could make it to Jungwon's show tonight because he still felt under the water.
Sunghoon turned to you, one eyebrow lifted, curious to know what you told Rei. Nonetheless the curiosity melt away with each step leading him closer to you, leaving space only for an excited grin on his face.
"Well I also had a devoted doctor you know..." He says, his words directed to Rei but the gaze fixed on you.
You swing from one leg to another, waiting for him to get closer to you just to finally say hi, dab you up like he would've normally done. He lifts his hand, and you do too, you jump when you realise he doesn't dab you up. Instead he grabs your wrist to pull you closer to him and lock you in a hug. Casual yet so intimate that it has you forgeting how to breathe for a second.
Oh you missed that.
You hold him tight, maybe a bit too tight but you don't care. Only now that he was back beside you you realized how much you missed him even if it has only been a week since you last saw him (in great shape).
He let go of you before the hug became awkward for Rei, still her suspicious glare switch between the two of you, something in the air changed now that Sunghoon was there, she could feel it, even though she hoped that she was lying.
"You didn't make me a cardboard?"Sunghoon asked, tone light, relaxed demeanour.
Rei frowned "If you wanted one you shouldn't have mocked mine." She crossed her arms on her chest, looking away from your fake boyfriend, making him snicker a laugh.
Sunghoon likes to mess around with Rei from time to time, he says she reminds him of his little sister and now that you met her you can see why. You smile, watching them bicker for a second before you got the opportunity to enter inside the venue.
It was crowded, a certain proudness grew inside of you, reminding that your friend was about to dance right here, in front on all these people. You sat between Rei and Sunghoon, trying to see something between the curtains covering the stage, hopefully you'll be able to notice Jungwon.
A hand slowly settled on your right tigh, your breath got caught inside your throat. You turned your eyes toward Rei, she was staring at her phone very intensely, what a relief. On your other side Sunghoon remained still, looking right in front of him with only the shadow of a smirk on his lips. You bit your cheek, hoping that the change of rythm of your breathing wasn't obvious.
You leaned on your right elbow, the one close to Sunghoon while he moved closer to you too, a bored look on his face that would probably fool anyone but you.
"Not happy to see me?" He whispered in your ear, almost getting you to break your poker face.
"Quite the contrary" you whispered back, barely hidding the excitment on your face.
For just another second your eyes locked with his, that darkness, playfulness... He looked very kissable, and if wasn't for Rei standing beside you, maybe you would've kissed him. But you had to remain calm and behave, Rei was wary of your fake boyfriend/girlfriend deal, she told you already that it would end up being a mess. You couldn't ignore her words, it was everywhere with her, with every each word that came out of her mouth, everywhere she looked at. It was a different act than the one with your families, with them you had to fake a relationship. With Rei you had to hide... Something else...
The lights turned off, Rei's eyes lifted and you immediately stood straight in your seat, taking Sunghoon's hand away from your tight. You focus immediately on the stage, with Rei you take your cardboard, ready to scream your lungs out just for Jungwon and it's quite litteraly what you did when the music turned on and you recognized Jungwon's figure alone in the middle of the stage, surrounded by the light of a pink moon.
Just as expected he tore down the stage with his talent. You were amazed by him, so was Rei beside you. You jumped with excitement, almost falling several times but a hand on your lower back always backed you up. It was discreet, but there, a quiet watch just to make sure you enjoyed the moment without hurting yourself.
A discreet gesture that felt like nothing but burned your skin and fastened your heartbeats.
You and Rei became Jungwon's noisy fanclub in the crowd, by the end of his representation you had strained your vocal cords so much that you could barely be heard (not Rei though, for some reason she could talk just fine). When you walked out of the venue you ran to Rei's car to get the bouquet you prepared for Jungwon before he walked out and when you ran back to your friends Jungwon had just arrived, you all congratulated him, you and Rei hugging him tight, all three off you then round dancing around Jungwon, immitating the things he had done on stage while he was giggling, his eyes smiling along with his mouth as he held tight his bouquet.
Sharing Jungwon's happiness was everything, and when he suggested going to the club right after to celebrate, nobody even thought about refusing. Even though you couldn't really talk anymore, your voice was almost gone, your head was starting to pound, but you ignored it. It didn't matter. Not tonight.
Rei and Jungwon, as expected, became the center of everything the second you stepped inside. They dragged you straight to the dancefloor. Not knowing if you could handle them and without even thinking, you reached back and pulled Sunghoon with you.
Usually Sunghoon doesn't like to go on the dancefloor, he looks from a distance and enjoys the party far from the center of the club but he doesn't resist when you pull him closer, quite the contrary. His body moves fast, his hand tightens around yours so you won't be separated. Your eyes fall on him, there's almost a fluttered look on his face that you don't fail to notice.
At first, it was easy. Just dancing, laughing, moving with the others, caught in the noise and the lights.
But slowly, something shifted.
You danced, with your friends but you kept feeling it. He was tracking every move you took. He followed your moving figure with his eyes. And you liked that feeling.
You felt it as soon as he showed up, through his gaze, through your boiling blood when your eyes met. He missed you, maybe just as much as you missed him.
Probably he also had dreams about kissing you the day after you went back home. There's a possibility his skin sting just like yours when you touch him ever so lightly...
Your eyes went back to him too often. He grinned at you, getting closer, your heart beating faster. His eyes sent shivers down your spine. You felt dizzy, not from the alcohol you drank, the world was slowly spinning around you, the music started to fade in your head just because he looked at you.
With one step closer to you, his hand found your waist. You kept dancing, and his hand stayed, slid a little lower and even pressed you closer.
You didn't move it away, if anything, you leaned into him.
The world around you blurred into flashes of color and sound, your attention narrowing without you even realizing it. Rei's laugh, Jungwon's voice, the music, everything faded behind the feeling of Sunghoon against you.
Every time you turned, he was there. Every time you moved, his eyes followed, dark, irresistible, and his hands never leaving you. He wasn't dancing with you, he was dancing for you, against you. And you did the same.
You caught a glimpse of Rei and Jungwon not too far away, completely lost in their own world, probably intoxicated by now. Not looking at you. Not paying attention. And just as if their ignorance gave you permission, you allowed your hands to slowly slid up his arms, resting around his neck. You didn't think, just gave in what your heart whispered to you.
He didn't react right away but the way his grip tightened on your waist didn't go unnoticed. Nor the way he licked his lips, staring right at yours, making you swallow hard.
Because what if he did what just crossed his mind as he stared? You agreed that you could kiss whenever you felt like it. Your gaze dropped to his lips, just for half a second, just wondering, then went back up to his eye. His expression shifted. Just slightly. But enough for you to notice.
"So you're not sick anymore..." you said, your voice louder than usual to cut through the music, but softer somehow.
Something in his face softened instantly. "Like I said, I had a great doctor."
Your breath caught. You bit your lower lip without thinking. His thumb pressed a little deeper into your side your chest heaving against his.
Your friends are just a few meters away, they would freak out if you kissed Sunghoon right now...
"You look very kissable right now, you know?" you added, so shamelessly teasing, yes Jungwon and Rei are standing a few steps away, but teasing wouldn't hurt them? The music is so loud they wouldn't even hear it. They'll never know anyway. Maybe this was too much, maybe not, you couldn't think straight, Sunghoon's presence alone occupied all of your attention anyway.
A small smile tugged at his lips, small, smug, knowing and oh so hot. "You know I was just thinking the same."
For a second, neither of you moved. Then, almost at the same time, your eyes flicked toward Rei and Jungwon. They were distracted, not looking at you, too focused on their own dance moves and when your gaze met Sunghoon's again, you didn't need words. Just one look to quietly agree. You wanted to leave.
He didn't even hesitate.
His hand slid from your waist to your wrist, firm but not rough, guiding you through the crowd. You followed without resistance, heart beating a little too fast, the music suddenly too loud, too much.
You didn't stop until you reached the smoking area. It was quieter, colder, almost empty, and the second the door closed behind you, the noise dropped like it never existed.
You stared at each other, already breathless. And the distance between you disappeared.
You barely had time to think before your lips crashed into his. It wasn't careful nor soft just desperate, because not being able to be with each other became a torture. Because ever since you first kissed at the restaurant when you hang out with Sunghoon's friend or when you decided you could kiss whenever you wanted, you had both been holding back for too long.
His hands gripped your back, pulling you flush against him, fingers sliding lower as if to anchor you there. Yours tangled in his hair, holding him just as close. For a split second, the kiss paused, just enough to feel it and realize what you were doing.
Then it deepened. Messy. Sloppy. Real.
For the first time, you didn't stop yourselves. Didn't pretend. Didn't measure anything. You let it happen, fully, completely, like you'd both been starving for it.
Your breath hitched when you pulled back just enough to breathe, your lips brushing his again, unwilling to let go completely.
"Let's get out of here... " you whispered against his mouth, your voice barely steady.
[...]
Your coat lays on the floor by the entrance, Sunghoon's lays beside your keys on the couch of your living room.
The lights of your appartment aren't even turned on. Heavy breathing breaks the quietness of your appartment, you're sitting on your table, Sunghoon standing between you legs as he kisses you. Your hands are lost in his hair, pulling on it from time tot ime making Sunghoon moan through your kiss.
His tongue brushes yours messily, your teeth collide sometimes but you don't even notice it, too focused on the hot feeling building up inside your chest and between your legs.
The world was spinning around you, but it could be exploding you wouldn't care. Because Sunghoon's cold hands made their way on your bare back, toying with the fabric of you bra, covering your body in shiver, making your heart skip a beat.
"Hoon..." You breathed through the kiss, grinding against him without even realizing it.
Sunghoon's mouth traced down your jaw, bit your neck, sucked on it, tearing loud moans out of your mouth. Your mind was foggy, you couldn't think straight and neither could he. Nothing mattered anyway, as long as you could consume that thing that was burning between you two.
Sunghoon had to quit your neck for a second, and you took it as an opportunity to take off his shirt, delighted to see that he wore nothing under. His body was sculpted, porcelain like, you could break him anytime, scratch it with your hasted movements. And honestly you wanted to.
You laid down on the table, pulling Sunghoon toward you, he had to climb the table but none of you mind it, not the slightest. You were lost in wet kisses. One of your legs slid between his, touching him where he needed you the most. A groan came out of his mouth, shameless, hoarse.
Your eyes met.
You needed more.
He shifted your position, sat on the table, putting you on his laps, you were straddling him. You didn't even realize until this moment that you both almost completely stripped. You were in nothing but underwear, your laced panties grinding against his Calvin Klein boxers.
You couldn't stop the motion of your hips, friction leading you somewhere you haven't been in too long. You pulled on his hair while his mouth covered you in kisses, sucking on the skin of your collarbone.
When he pulled out you didn't think, kept grinding, kissed him, he moaned inside your mouth, vibrations driving you crazy.
"Y/N I...." You kissed his jaw, catching a glance of his joined eyebrows and of his parted lips, sweat rolling down his forehead and chest heaving. A sight you'd like to tattoo in your mind. "If you keep doing it... *fuck* I'm going to..." He tried to catch up his breath. "You're sure?"
"Never been so sure in my life." You whispered. Your knees started to hurt but you choose to ignore it, all that matter was that hot pressure against your core, that feeling growing up your chest, his body under yours, his lips against yours, his tongue invading your mouth.
You couldn't stop, and it seemed he couldn't either. One of his hands slowly made its way lower, fingers tugging on your panties, adding even more to the pleasure you already felt while moving your hips against him. You whined, unable to refrain any type of sound coming out of your mouth. Sunghoon liked that.
He held you still for a second, one hand on your hips, the other still tugging at the top of your panties.
"Can I make you feel good?" He had to ask, if you said no, he would never allow himself to touch you, no matter how horny you got him.
You stared at him with hooded eyes. His voice was full from desire, his lips were swollen from your kisses, but his eyes held that cute flicker that drove you crazy. Nobody ever asked to touch you this way, like you came first.
You nodded. As soon as you felt his fingers brushing your folds you understood you wouldn't last long.
"You're so wet..." his voice cracked.
He got his hand out of your underwear, you stared at his long fingers, coated with your juices. Then he brought them to his mouth, licking on your wetness like it was honey. "You even taste good..."
"Hoon..." you called softly, your voice barely holding together.
He looked up instantly, like he'd been waiting for it. Eyes dark, unfocused, but completely locked on yours now.
"What is it, baby?" he murmured, breath uneven.
You swallowed "I..." You hesitated, your forehead brushing his, your noses almost touching. "Can I take it out?"
His expression shifted, something softer flickering through the haze.
"I want... to be there with you."
For a second, he just stared at you, like he needed to make sure he understood, like he wanted to read every bit of doubt or certainty in your face.
His hand came up to cup your cheek, thumb brushing your skin gently.
"Are you sure?" he asked, not hesitant but careful.
You nodded without breaking eye contact. "I've never been more sure."
"Okay..." he breathed, a faint, almost disbelieving smile tugging at his lips. "Yeah... yeah, we can."
He guided your hand lower, until you reached his boxer, he struggled to swallow as your hand slid inside it. Then you touched it and he stopped breathing. Your fingers closed around him, taking his dick out of his boxers, stroking, pumping it a few times, just to hear his pleas.
Your fingers curled around him, and the effect was immediate, his head dropped forward against your shoulder, a broken sound leaving his lips as his grip on your hips tightened.
"Y/N..." your name came out like a warning, like a plea, like he was already losing control. And you weren't any better.
The rhythm between you fell back into place, his own hips moving along with yours. You were desperate, panties pushed to the side, moving against his already leaking cock.
Your foreheads pressed together, breaths colliding, lips brushing but never quite settling into a kiss again, too overwhelmed, too consumed.
Everything felt too much. Too hot. Too close.
His hands slid back to your waist, guiding you, holding you there as if he needed to feel every bit of you, every movement, every second. Your name kept slipping from his mouth, softer, almost reverent, like he couldn't believe this was real.
You didn't even had him inside of you but you felt like floating in pleasure.
"Don't stop..." you whispered, though you didn't know if you were talking to him or to yourself.
"I won't." he answered immediately, breathless, his voice unsteady. "I couldn't even if I tried."
A shaky laugh left you, quickly dissolving into a gasp as the feeling surged again, stronger this time. Your hands found his back, scratching it, grounding yourself in him, in the heat of his skin, in the way he said your name like it mattered.
"Stay with me." he murmured.
"I am..." you breathed. "I'm right here."
And that was all it took.
The world seemed to stop turning. Only remained the closeness, the heat, the way your bodies moved together like you'd forget how to exist apart.
Your grip tightened, your breath hitched, and you buried your face against his neck as the feeling crashed over you, stealing the air from your lungs. His arms wrapped around you instantly, holding you through his own high.
For a few seconds, neither of you moved. There was only the sound of your breathing, uneven and loud in the quiet apartment.
Slowly, he lifted his head from your shoulder, his breath beginning to steady. His hands came up to your face, brushing damp strands of hair away, fingers lingering against your skin like he couldn't let go yet.
His gaze softened as he looked at you, a faint, almost sheepish smile tugged at his lips.
"You okay?" he murmured.
A quiet laugh slipped out of you, still a little breathless, your fingers tracing lazy patterns along his shoulder.
"I am..." you whispered. "You?"
He nodded, leaning in to press a soft kiss to your cheek, then another but slower this time. Just warmth. Just him.
You let your eyes fall shut, allowing yourself to exist in that moment. Somewhere between the fading heat and something gentler. Something steadier.
You could still feel his heartbeat against yours, slower now, but in sync, like neither of you had quite come back down yet.
It felt unreal. And yet, there he was.
His thumb brushed absentmindedly along your arm before he exhaled softly. "We should probably move." he murmured, though he made no real effort to let go.
You huffed a small laugh. "Probably." You looked at him for a second, in silence. "Stay a little longer."
He didn't hesitate. "I wasn't planning to leave."
Another quiet moment passed before he finally pulled back just enough to look at you again, a hint of that familiar teasing returning to his expression.
"Okay..." he said, brushing your hair back once more. "Here's the plan."
You raised an eyebrow.
"You take a shower..." he continued, glancing briefly around at the scattered clothes before looking back at you, amused. "While I deal with the mess we made..."A soft laugh escaped from your mouth. "Then you come back..." he added "pick one of your awful romcom..."
You nudged his shoulder, smiling.
"... and we fall asleep halfway through it."
"Sounds perfect."
You slid off the table, both adjusting your underwear before you reached out your hand toward him. He took it without hesitation, letting you pull him up, only to wrap his arms around you again the second he was standing.
"Don't take too long..." he murmured against you. "I'll miss you."
You smiled, pressing your forehead lightly against his.
"Silly."
Then the next day arrived. And he didn't leave.
Instead, he kissed you, teased you, and of course you teased him right back.
You explored new things together, nothing beyond foreplay. You wanted him, deeply, but you weren't ready to give in to that desire just yet. So you savored what you had, and he never tried to push you further.
The following day, he went back to his place, only to return an hour later with a change of clothes and a bag. You stayed at yours, left only to go to work, and even there nobody could really tear you off from the other.
Soon it was Christmas night. You had offered to host the evening. It wasn't really a party, more like a warm, intimate gathering with your friends.
Still, there was food to prepare and drinks to arrange, and you were honestly grateful not to do it alone. You stayed in the kitchen for most of the day and when the time came, you heard the front door opening.
"Ho! Ho! Ho!" You instantly recognized Jungwon's voice through that santaesque laugh.
You turned toward the door, where your him and Rei were stepping inside. Jungwon puffed out his chest, attempting to look bigger, a proud grin spreading across his face.
You couldn't help but laugh softly, shaking your head at his theatrics.
"We brought gifts!" chanted Rei as she hurried into the kitchen, her curly pigtails moving with each of her movements.
"Merry Christmas to my favourite friend!" She came up behind you and wrapped you in a hug, squeezing you tight and swaying slightly.
You smiled, hugging her back without getting your eyes off the pan. "Merry Christmas to you too my favourite friend." You said back.
A voice from behind made an exaggerated scoff, breaking the moment. "Ok now I feel kind of offended..."
You turned, amused, spotting Sunghoon with a fake hurt expression, one hand pressed dramatically against his chest.
Rei stepped away from you, preparing her and Sunghoon secret handshake. "Sunghoon? Man when did you arrive we couldn't reach you?"
You exchanged a quick glance with him, a silent understanding passing between you. He had never actually left your apartment since the night of Jungwon's show. But they didn't even know he ended up at yours that night...
His lips twitched as if holding back a smile. "I was there to help Y/N..." he answered, keeping his tone casual.
Rei crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow. "Why would you ask him when you have me?"
You gestured lightly toward Sunghoon, trying to keep things natural. "He came directly after work and I knew you were busy..."
"Guys can someone help me here I struggle with the gifts." You heard Jungwon's loud voice coming from the living room, only now realizing Rei left him alone while he had to put her gigantic gifts under the tree.
You turned your head sharply toward the noise, eyes widening as you heard something wobble.
"As long as you don't break mines..." Rei muttered, walking toward the pan to smell the food you were cooking, taking a spoon to taste it.
"They're about to fall!!!"
Chairs scraped loudly against the floor as everyone reacted at once. "Hell no you're not breaking my gifts!"
Rei and Sunghoon ran to the living room to help the poor Jungwon.
As soon as you finished your last plate you joined them, carrying the rest of the food into the living room. Ready to enjoy Christmas with your friends.
Just like last year, Jungwon had brought a bunch of party games, and you spent the whole nigh playing while eating the delicious food you had cooked with Sunghoon.
You split into two teams. You and Jungwon against Sunghoon and Rei, exactly the same as last year because they insisted on a rematch claiming that you had cheated last time (you did) but even without cheating they wouldn't have stood a chance against your unbeatable duo.
"You're too slow!" Screamed Rei, after they lost for the 5th time tonight, grabbing her hair like a madwoman while everyone in the living room burst into laughter. Jungwon and you gasped for air, Sunghoon laid on the floor, clutching his stomach.
"I'm not playing anymore." Rei leaned on the coffee table, an obviously annoyed pout on her face.
"I cant breath..." Jungwon's voice came out high pitched like a whistle "... look at her face!" he let out, hitting the floor twice, happy tears streaming down his eyes.
You dired your own tears with a hand, looking at the time on your phone, almost midnight. You got up.
"Let's take a pause from the game I feel like some of us are getting too emotional..." Rei clicked her tongue at you, making Jungwon shake with supressed laughter. "Who wants dessert?"
All three of them raised their hand, some more happily than others... You walked to the kitchen, not realizing yet that Sunghoon had followed you to help with the plates.
"How can you be so bad at games?" You asked when you noticed him behind you.
He grinned. "I'm better at other things..."
You huffed a laugh, taking a look at the living room where Rei was ready to hit Jungwon with one of the pillows of your couch. You shook your head. You obviously understood the undermeanings behind Sunghoon's answer and the infuriating wiggle of his eyebrows that made your cheeks take a pinky tint. "Yeah? What other things?"
Seeing you feigned ignorance Sunghoon walked toward you, taking of of the plates in hand, he leaned toward your ear. "We'll see tonight sweetheart." He answered, winking at you, the promise of a thrilling night with him making your stomach flutter.
You bite your lower lip, offering him a look that he recognized now, one that made his own blood run through his veins. Without a second thought he gave a gentle spank on your ass. A tease that would've turned you on, if Rei's voice hadn't suddenly cut through the moment from far too close.
"Y/N don't let me with him he is ann-" She stopped abruptly.
You turned, wary, just to see Rei and Jungwon standing right at your kitchen's door.
Jungwon's eye juggle between your figure and Sunghoon's before turning toward Rei. They couldn't have witnessed what they just witnessed. Sunghoon spanking your ass with a playful smile, making you giggle like a fool.
You swallowed hard, watching Rei's eyes, feeling as if every secret you had been keeping had just unfolded before her in an instant.
"You guys fucked?" Blurted out Rei, her eyes wide filled with judgment.
Your head and Sunghoon's snapped toward her, shock written on your foreheads, a wave of shameful heat growing inside of you turning your face red.
"W-what? No!" You tried to argue. It was true you technically didn't fuck, just made out and touched each other... and maybe you did more than just kissing but you technically didn't fuck.
"I can recognize two persons that have already seen each other naked when I see it."
You looked at Sunghoon, seeking for comfort. His jaw was clenched, eyes everywhere but on your friends, he was thinking hard, and you were too ashamed to talk.
Jungwon's eyes found yours. He was obviously taken aback, more and more uncomfortable as seconds passed by and no one denied what Rei said. "Let's eat guys I d-"
"Then what?" Sunghoon's voice cut through Jungwon's attempt to defuse the situation, sharper than before.
Rei blinked, caught off guard for half a second. "Then what?" she repeated, disbelief creeping into her tone as she scoffed. "Are you two together or not?"
Her eyes locked onto yours, because last time you saw her you didn't talk about Sunghoon but someone else.
Your throat tightened. No you're not anything more than friends with Sunghoon. You shook your head, fingers curling against you sides, reaching for something, any type of comfort.
A heavy silence dropped into the room, silence cut when Rei let out a short, humorless laugh, running a hand through her hair. "Do you even hear yourselves right now?"
Her gaze moved between you and Sunghoon. Between your avoidance and his tension.
"This is nothing..." Sunghoon muttered, rolling his eyes, though his jaw clenched.
"Nothing?" Rei snapped. She stared at you and you could see the doubt in her eyes, she was wondering what was best between keeping her mouth shut and telling Sunghoon that you had a date planned. "Then you wouldn't care if Y/N had a date planned. Right?"
Sunghoon turned to you. You felt your heart pounding inside your head, the silence inside your kitchen making it even louder, even less bearable.
You saw his brows pulled together, confusion flashing across his face before something darker settled in. "...What?"
You didn't answer, didn't move, didn't even breathe properly. He understood it wasn't just a possible situation. This was the truth. Rei didn't have to announce it officially, he probably caught up when looking at your ashamed face, still avoiding his gaze because even though you were just friends with him, you felt nauseous.
"I'm leaving." Rei said suddenly, leaving the kitchen, grabbing her coat. "Figure your shit out. Either you're together, or you're not. I'm not dealing with whatever this is."
"What does it change?" Sunghoon shot back, following her near the front door, frustration slipping through.
Obviously you followed them. In silence, afraid that they'll remember you're there, behaving like a child who broke a vase.
Rei stopped at the door, turning just enough to look at Sunghoon over her shoulder, shooting a glance at you at the same time. "It changes everything and you know it. You're either something or you're nothing." She gestured between you and Sunghoon with her hands. "Situationships always end up a mess and I'm not choosing between my friends."
Then she was gone.
Jungwon hesitated, glancing between you and Sunghoon, clearly uncomfortable. The he sighed, taking his own coat. "I'm with her on this one... You need to figure things out."
Jungwon left in a religious silence. And after the door clicked shut behind your friend, there was nothing, nobody left, just you, Sunghoon, the messy situation between you, and the thought of you going on a date with someone.
I was heavy, suffocating. You felt dumb, you did nothing wrong, because you can do on a date with whoever you want whenever you want, you're not in a relationship. But at the same time, are you really not?
"You're going on a date?" Sunghoon asked, still facing the door.
You swallowed, searching for your words but nothing came. You wanted to say something but only a faint "Hoon..." came out of your mouth.
"What the fuck, Y/N?" He turned to face you, convusion written all over his face. His voice wasn't loud, not mad, he can't be mad either way because there is nothing to be mad about...
But his knitted brow and hurt eyes hit harder than if he had shouted.
"Come on,you said it yourself, it's nothing..." you said quickly, looking everywhere but at him. "I can still go on dates, it's not like..."
"Not like what?" he cut you off, taking a step closer. "Not like we're anything?"
WIth just that reference to your own words, you felt like you just got punched in the face. No you're nothing but friends...
But why are you hesitating? Hesitation is loud, it says a lot of things. Probably even the things you can't get out of your mouth for some reasons...
"This isn't like..." you tried again, quieter now. "We're friends, Sunghoon."
A short, bitter laugh escaped him and you couldn't argue with this reaction.
"Right..." he muttered. "Friends." His eyes met yours again, sharper now. "Friends who make out every night?"
You looked away.
"Friends who knows the sounds of your moans or how to make y-"
"So what?" you shot back, defensive. "Don't act like you don't talk to other girls."
You're not dumb, Sunghoon is a gorgeous man, you have eyes to see it and there is no way a man like him doesn't attract people like honey attracts bees. And you still remember the day of his birthday, that day Jake talked about a girl. If Sunghoon talked to her before your deal there arre no reason why he would've stopped after.
"I don't." His eyes didn't move from yours, like it was real, like there was a chance for him to not talk to anyone... You just knew he lied.
"Yeah, well you could. That was the deal, remember? We fake a relationship just for our families to let us live and-"
"Wow." He let out a dry scoff, dragging a hand over his face."You really believe that huh?"
"Hoon..."
"No, yeah..." he nodded, cutting you off again, his voice suddenly colder. "Let's stick to that. Let's be friends."
The last time Sunghoon talked to you in that cold distant tone was when you first met him, the time when it seemed his heart was frozen and not reachable. A time you had forgotten.
There was no tease, no playfulness, just him and his sharp tone.
And in that tensed moment you hated yourself for only focusing on how hot he looked. His arms were so tensed that his veins popped out, his jaw was so clenched you could cut things with it. His eyes seemed so dark and vulnerable at the same time... You just couldn't stop from thinking about it...
"Hoon, don't do this..." you stepped closer to him, hopping your presence closer to him would relax him a bit. Or would push his limits even further. You didn't know. You were lost.
"Do what?" he shot back instantly, taking a step away from you, his lips taking the shape of a faint smile that didn't feel like one. "You're the one acting like this is nothing."
"Because it is!" You argued back.
"Cancel it."
You blinked. "What?"
"Cancel the date."
You rolled your eyes, deciding to push even further, just to enjoy him in that state a bit more, see if he could become even more attractive. "I'm just having fun..." you said, more quietly now. "I'm not going to date him for real..."
"Then why go?" he pressed, hand gripping his hair. "Why go to someone else when you have me?"
Your breath caught. Because that wasn't supposed to be said out loud.
"This isn't the same." you repeated, weaker this time. "We're not..."
"I know what we are." he snapped.
Silence settled for a few seconds. His chest rose and fell unevenly, eyes locked onto yours like he was trying to force something out of you. But you didn't say it. You didn't give it to him.
"Yeah..." he muttered, not only taking a step back but walking away from you this time. "That's what I thought."
The distance hit harder than anything else. And when you saw him walking to your room, taking his bag and clothes you freaked out, realizing that maybe, you really did something wrong.
"Why are you leaving? Are you really mad?" you asked, your hasty.
"I'm not."
A lie. He walked away, getting dangerously close to the front door.
"Sunghoon..."
"I'm not mad buddy." he said sharper this time.
You paused. Looking at him opening the door.
"Buddy?" You repeated, unsure if you heard it right or if your mind was playing tricks on you.
Then, he turned his face toward you with a faint, almost mocking grin.
"Yeah. Buddy."

Expect the 4th chapter of fake it until we’re not within the next 48h guys
VEIL - Riki Nishimura
police officer Riki x blind fem reader
Synopsis: A clumsy fall, a blind girl, an unexpected encounter. Maybe an accident, maybe the beginning of something.
Warning: This is literally the first chapter of the manga Veil. I loved Aleksander and Emma so much that I had to write about them. I hope this isn’t complete nonsense and that it’s at least somewhat enjoyable.
A/N: This is one of the one-shots I wrote during the great drought of content here... I hope you’ll enjoy it, even just a little. I’m posting it now since I couldn’t finish the fourth part of my Sunghoon fanfic (sorry). I might write other chapters because I think Riki could be sooooo Aleksander coded and I like the energy between the protagonists. If it’s total bullshit and you think I should take it down tell me, I’m open to criticism.
He tries to catch his breath. Riki fell, he probably should’ve paid more attention to where he was going, but there was really no reason for that manhole to be open at all. He leans against the wall behind him, sitting almost comfortably on the stairs. The cold air outside makes his throat burn, the damp concrete of the walls and stairs feels cold and wet, and he knows for sure he'll be left with a wet stain when he stands up.
It snowed again recently. It had been nice to see the town covered in white, but now that has all melted a, the only enjoyable point of snow is gone, leaving nothing but a disgusting grey slush on the ground, covering the streets.
Riki sighs, closing his eyes just for a moment, just to relax before returning to work and seriousness.
“Ouch!”
Something hit his leg, his eyes snapped open to look at whoever dared to hit a police officer.
“Ah! Excuse me!”
The high-pitched voice of a woman came to his ears.
She is wearing a huge blue coat. Not exactly blue, more like a turquoise. Her eyes are closed and Riki is surprised to see that she doesn’t seem to intend to open them any time soon.
“I’m really sorry… truly.”
Her hair is short, uneven, as if the shape didn’t matter, messy strands falling around her face.
“Are you alright? I didn’t hurt you, did I?”
What is most astonishing is her facial features, soft, harmonious… she looks almost ethereal, even with her hair unstyled and a coat, way too big for her shoulders, covering her whole body.
The woman in front of him sighed a sad look crossing her face. Her eyes are still closed yet hold a hint of melancholy that mesmerized Riki. He just couldn’t look away.
“That's why I don’t like sticks...”
Riki slowly stands up, realizing he’s been staring too long, not that she would've noticed anyway, but he totally forgot to answer the blind woman in front of him.
Now back on his feet, he gathered himself, slipping back into the confidence and composure expected from him while working.
The demeanour of a police officer. Not a boy captivated by a stranger.
“It’s no problem...” he assures, brushing dust off his uniform “What about you? Are you okay?” His attention shifting back to the woman, not to observe this time, not the way he was just seconds ago.
The woman lifts her head, following Riki’s deep voice, surprise flickering across her face.
“I heard a voice coming from the ground and now it’s coming from above... you’re tall!” She says too lightly, a stark contrast to the sad look she held just before. “Really tall even!”
“There he is!” Shouts echo from the corner of the street, followed by the hasty sound of footsteps. They found him.
Three children appear in front of Riki, the same that have been pursuing him before he fell because of that manhole.
“Put your hands up copper!” One of them says, mimicking a gun with his small fingers, pointing it straight at Riki, a mischievous grin tugging at the officer's lips.
“Damned...” he scoffs as the kids rush him, already hands deep in Riki's pockets, searching. “I have nothing on me today, I swear!”
He raises his hands in surrender, letting them search all they wanted for the candies he, purposely, placed inside his pockets before leaving the police station earlier.
Once they found the coveted candies, the kids ran away as usual, satisfied with having "robbed" the policeman once again.
Riki watches them running away with an amused smile, the children’s giggles fading into the distance. He called out for them to look both ways before crossing the road. Then he heard it, the hidden laughter of the woman beside him.
He smiled at her, even though she wouldn’t see it.
“So you’re a policeman?” She asks quietly.
“How did you guess?” Riki replies, playfully.
“Intuition, perhaps...” she pouted, her face turned toward nothing in particular.
Riki reached into his coat, grabbing his police badge to give it to her. His leather covered hands almost shaking from carefulness while he lifted her own hands to give her the said badge.
“My badge should serve as all the papers you need.”
Her fingers ran through the badge, tracing its shape as to remember every curve of it, and when she was satisfied with her inspection, she gave it back.
“I have actual papers myself.” She switched her stick to her other hand, rummages a pocket of her huge coat, taking out a red rectangular shaped wallet, papers nearly spilling out.
Riki took this opportunity to check it, noticing her address was in a town nowhere near the place they just met.
“It’s the first time I’ve seen someone keeping their eyes closed.” He says absentmindedly while roaming around the papers.
Then he remembered. The stick.
“Hum... no offence...” he closed the wallet, a guilty feeling of being intrusive creeping in.
“None taken…” she said polite smile plastered on her face while her hands moved around, visibly searching for her wallet. Riki gave it back. “I’ve never seen anyone else at all… so you know.”
The police officer feels dumb, insensitive, heat rises to his cheeks. Why on earth would’ve he said that to an obviously blind woman?
The cold wind brushes through her short hair, tinting her cheeks red from the cold.
She switched her stick back to her dominant hand. He stares. She isn’t wearing gloves, and he clearly sees her hands trembling. She stumbles and he almost ran to catch her but she stabilized herself with the wall, her strong boots firmly grounding her as she took her first step on the stairs.
Riki watches her for a moment longer. Her stick taps against the stairs clumsily, like she isn’t used to it. But she said it herself, she doesn’t like sticks.
“Are you alone?” Riki walks up toward her, watching carefully as she takes another step up. It’s his job to protect people after all.
She stops on the stairs, placing a hand flat against the wall, then asserts in a serious tone “there’s no need to worry.”
Riki doesn’t listen and keeps getting closer.
“Is there no one to accompany you?”
He knows how he sounds, she probably has a lot of people talking to her the same way he is. Being careful around her, because she is fragile, but he can’t help it.
That woman is walking alone in such a big city.
He is a policeman he knows it better than anyone else, the dangers that could be waiting around every corner. Especially for someone like her. An easy target.
But she probably is aware of it more than anyone. She continues her way up the stairs.
“I do just fine on my own! Please do not worry about it.”
Her tone can’t fool him, she’s scared he can hear it. But he can’t force himself on her. Riki shoves his hand inside his pockets, thinking he’ll just make sure she’s safe for another couple of minutes and then he’ll leave her alone.
“And let me warn you now…”
Riki tilts his head, surprised by the sudden deepening of her voice.
“Following me won’t lead you to wonderland.”
The policeman frowns, incomprehension crossing his face. “Do I look like Alice to you?”
She made it up the stairs, sighs before turning around, one hand lifting to her face while she whistles a laugh. “Maybe you do!”
Riki’s features softens. There’s definitely something he didn’t understand between the lines of what she told him. Nonetheless she laughed, her shoulders stand more relaxed, he can see it through her coat.
“Don’t be upset it's my favourite story.” Her giggles continue, soft, timid. Music to his ears.
“Maybe you’re right…” he starts, climbing two steps at the time to catch up to her. “I almost fell down a hole earlier. And I was looking elsewhere...”
His words are left hanging in the air, he hears her whispering something about it being the reason he was on the ground. Then he continues.
“... That’s when the rabbit bumped into me.”
Her eyebrows rise, probably as she realizes that she is the rabbit of his story.
“Now I’m left wondering where that rabbit is off to…”
Of course he doesn’t want to be intrusive, if she turns down his answer he won’t push it, he doesn’t want to come out as a creep. He’s just like Alice, a little curious…
She silently breathes, face impassive. Riki wonders if it means she’s deciding if he is someone she can have faith in or not.
“I was just planning on going for a spot of tea..” she lowers her head. “Would you happen to know a nice shop around here Mr. Policeman?”
Riki looks around, pout on his face as he remembers the nice tea shops of the town. He knows the Twice Shop sells some great teas, there’s also the RedVelvet bakery where she could enjoy some time around a cup of tea and a sweet pastry but those places are located across the town. Could he let her walk this far without worrying the rabbit crosses the path of the wrong folks?
“My…” he hesitates. “Maybe the police station I work in?”
Her face lifts toward him. “Really?”
One of the policeman’s hand ran through his hair awkwardly. “It’s a tea lover’s den, especially the commissioner. The kitchen area offers a wide array of qualities and blends to satisfy any taste.”
He isn’t lying. Commissioner Yang loves tea, he probably ought to open a tea house at this point. Only this morning did he came to the station with a special Caribbean tea that he swore was mind blowing.
A mischievous grin appears on Riki’s face, “And we even have a room for lost children.”
A frown paired to a grumpy pout appeared on her face, sending joy to Riki’s heart.
“I’m not a lost child.” She argued.
Riki chuckled, happy that his little joke worked.
“I’m looking for work.” The young woman suddenly said, sighing and the end of her sentence.
Riki’s jaw drops in shock. “No way!”
“I’m telling you I am.” She retorted right away.
“Ah, uh…” he remains confused for a second. He wasn’t expecting this. Not that he thinks blind people shouldn’t work, not at all. It’s just that her clothes seemed so luxurious… obviously he didn’t say anything about it, there are wealthy people around, he knows it. He just thought money wouldn’t be a problem for someone like her…
And she seemed so fragile, like she wasn’t shaped for any type of worked. She would probably do wonders in a lot of fields but at a tea shop?
“My apologies.”
He thinks for an instant, he knew he could help her, he just had to find the right words. “Well what luck!”
She tilts her head, confusion written all over her face and closed eyes.
“Our section is looking for someone to take calls!”
This isn’t totally true… they talked about it because the police station of the town next door has one and it seems to help their efficiency. Not everyone possess the devices to make calls, but more and more people get them, even restaurants have phones nowadays. So maybe she could take the job…
“You think I’m qualified for the job?” She quietly asks, as if scared to hear the answer.
She probably has heard many times that she wasn’t due to her blindness. She fidgets with her stick, fingers nervously rubbing the top of the stick.
“Why don’t you give it a shot?” Riki invites her.
She rises her eyebrows, a pink shade taking over her cheeks.
“I hope you don’t get too bored.” He smiles, heart warm as he sees her relaxing, a smile slowly creeping in her face, far from the polite one she wore earlier. This time her smile reaches her eyes.
“Don’t fret about that. It can’t be worse than staying home.”
He hears a shift of her tone at the end of her sentence, probably a hint to something deeper, darker. But he doesn’t want her to think about whatever weights enough in her heart to hear it through her voice.
“Well… uhm… to go there…” Riki looks around, creating inside his head, a path easy to remember for her. A safe path, one where he could let her go without worrying too much.
“Will you lend me your arm?” She suddenly says, breaking Riki’s thoughts.
He hesitates for a second, she is lifting her left arm toward him, the tip of her fingers brushing his long coat. Then he understands. “Ah, of course!” He gets closer to her, guiding her hand with his own just so she could have a solid grip on him.
His heart skips a beat when he fully realizes that she lets him guide her around, her who claimed not to need help earlier.
He can now easily smell her perfume, the scent of her shampoo too. She smells like flowers and sugar at the same time. It’s not aggressive, it’s sweet, joyful even.
“Let’s go?” She cuts his thoughts once again, facing him now with that smile that still reaches her closed eyes.
“Ah, sure!” He rushed to answer, taking a first step, making sure that she was following. He had to take smaller steps, because she was shorter. He had to be softer than usual, because she was more fragile. He had to smile wider, because she was by his side…
“You’ll watch for holes, right?” She asks, voice high, referring to their discussion.
Riki quickly shoot a glance at her, a proud smirk replaced the softer smile she wore seconds ago.
“Certainly…” he snickers, shaking his head in amusement.
He hoped the station accepted her, because in his heart she already got the job and he couldn’t wait to meet her everyday at the office. And learn more about the rabbit he just met.

part1 part2 part3
Never being in a relationship may have fucked up your perception of love. You were born a hopeless romantic, as far as you can remember you have always been waiting for that day where you would fall in love and never let go of this person.
You really wished it happened but years passed and still there was no one. You debilerately didn't date at first because no matter how much pressure your friends used to put on you during your school days there was no way you had a boyfriend at the ripe age of 8 (that and also Adam was really bad looking). Anyway at 8 you weren't interested in having a wedding during play time with some guys you were sure you would be ashamed of later.
When you hit middle school you were still reluctant of this idea, it's hard for a teenage girl to grow properly if she has to deal with a man. And guys are so annoying at 14 years old, let alone how bad looking they are, no it wasn't for you. At 14 guys were discovering sex and they would have made you like some kind of slut anyway so there was no way.
During highschool you weren't against experiencing love, at this point you had seen "to all the boys I loved before" and you were secretly wishing Peter Kavinsky would find you somehow (the Peter from the first movie not the one that wasn't waiting for Lara Jean in the hot tub duh).
You were only disapointed when you realised boys were still not to your liking, and still annoying, and Peter Kavinsky wasn't real. But also, they weren't looking at you. To be honest you were never the center of everybody's attention but you weren't left aside that much. But highschool turned things, you never realised how much more beautiful your friends were until the moment it hit you. Guys were all over them while no one looked back at you, not that you would have looked their way, but still you realised that maybe, guys found you ugly.
And this is how you ended up still lonely, unloved and virgin at 23 years old. Sure 23 isn't old, you're still so young, but every time you tell someone that no, you had never been in a relationship, no you were never in a situationship, no you never reached the "talking stage" with anybody, they always hit you with the "No way you're lying" or "You're not missing out on anything don't worry love only hurts" and even worse "You'll see, love will come when you least expect it" as if you were expecting anything anymore.
Like your bestfriend would always say, you're the ultimate virgin: no kiss, no hook ups, no relationship, not even a crush (celebrity crush doesn't count since they are out of reach anyway).
However being born a hopeless romantic you had to somehow fill the empty void in your heart, that's how you ended up watching rom-coms, romance anime, all sort of drama, your favourite songs were all about love, you began to read romance books, manhwas, romance mangas, and the devil itself: fanfictions. You were something like 13 when you discovered wattpad and fanfictions, you couldn't believe what you discovered that night. You had to put an all nighter to process everything, it was like the pandora box, there was so many love stories for free, you rushed to read as many as possible, always waiting for updates to your favourite stories. This is how you discovered what they called lemons at first, the smut, you would've never imagined that at 23 you were still reading about it and still wonder how it really is.
This made you who you are today, the quiet single girl, reading things on her phone. Everybody around you knew how single you felt inside, claiming either that you would end up alone anyway and that no man deserves you or even that you're still single because it meant that you would end up with the sexiest, prettiest, loveliest, richest most perfect man on earth (stay delulu).
And you think about your prolonged celibacy when you see two person kissing right in front of you while you're waiting in line to get cookies for you and your bestfriend, and with Juno by Sabrina Carpenter playing on the background you swear that if those two motherfuckers in front of you don't separate asap you'll start throwing hands.
"Stop hating on them I can see the daggers your eyes are throwing." Kazuha said, walking toward you.
You sighed, "I can't take it anymore, one more couple and I'll just kill myself." You mimicked beheading yourself with your thumb as if it was a knife.
"It's the campus couple's dating place, what were you expecting?" She whislted a laugh, replacing her hair behind her ears while looking at her phone. She was right, what exactly were you expecting, it's always like that, people are always eating each other's face as if they wished to swallow the other one right in front of you. No you're not jealous, you just wish they were more considerate of other people around them.
You practically ran back to your class after eating outside just to be back in the anxiety of university courses, what a delight. Kazuha followed you, amused and just plopped on the sit next to you, the auditorium wasn't full, you still had time before the beggining of the next lecture and Kazuha took advantage of it to show you all her campus crush's pictures.
He is known among every student for being one of the hotest boys on campus. There was a day when you and Kazuha were trying to find a vending machine and you randomly crossed his path, it was the day Kazuha developped sort of a crush on him after he smilled in your direction.
By sort of a crush what you really mean is that she began to call him her husband everyday and sending you pictures of him on her secret twitter account. You don't know where she got all those thirst traps of him but there sure is a lot and you can't deny the fact that he is good looking.
What you find weird is the fangirling, she doesn't know him, has never heard him talking or do anything else than walking on campus or posing on those pictures? The only thing she knows is that his name is Lee Heeseung, he is 2 years older than you, he majors in sociology, he likes playing basketball and he is popular for his doe eyes.
But for her knowing that little about him is making all this "campus crush" thing funnier as she says. She treats it like a celebrity crush, she doesn't want to be in a relationship with him but she enjoys the view of him and the excitment whenever she sees him on the other side of the road.
Sometimes she forces you to follow her, making a detour just to cross his path and giggle when she realised that you walked right in front of him, always claiming that she sweared he looked at you or that he seemed geniunely curious about you.
No matter how awkward it was you had to cope with that crush thing, you were the only follower to that secret twitter account she had and where she posted all of her crushes, from Lee Heeseung to Zayn Malik, each time she came across a picture of one of her crushes she just had to tweet about it, and to be honest it was really funny to witness, every off putting comment about how she could die for the man on the picture or how she deserves to be their wife made you laugh, some innocent freakyness never hurt anyone.
"Oh you should take a look to the last picture Carlos Sainz posted on his instagram he looks sooo yu-"
"What the-" You suddenly heard the group of girls on the row in front of you laughing louder, cutting Kazuha's fangirling session. They all turned toward you two, eyes wide on shock and mouth covered by their hands as they where giggling and whispering to each others.
You shoot a glance at Kazuha who wasn't understanding either what was their problem. You knew those girls, two were Kazuha's roommates, they weren't close friends but they got allong well so such weird behaviour was really surprising coming from them. After a minute of incomprehension, one of Kazuha's roommate turned around with her phone in hand.
"Kazuha is that you?" She handed you the phone and you gasped in shock, a shock that was nothing compared to the terror in Kazuha's eyes. Automatically her eyes found yours, it was unthinkable but her secret account had been discovered. The tweet Yuna was showing you was one of the numerous pictures of Heeseung where Kazuha commented "looking so fine and for what?".
Everybody's eyes inside the auditorium was on you, regardless if they heard what was happening or not, if they knew what was happening or not, everybody had their eyes on you and Kazuha who probably wished to disappear right away.
"W-well I-" she stutters, searching for something to say just to make this whole thing less embarassing but it was too hard to witness. You've never seen Kazuha so embarassed before, you could only guess what was going through her head. These four girls knew who Heeseung was. You were already imagining Kazuha's distress when she would just be inside her dorm whith her roommates also there, just talking about how Kazuha was a weird fangirl.
"It's not hers it's mine." You blurted out without even thinking.
All eyes shifted to you, the shock on their faces only growing because everybody knew you as the no boyfriend girl. Even you were shocked about what you just did, you sacrificed your whole social life in order to protect Kazuha's reputation.
This whole discreet attitude, you always did your best not to attract unwanted attention, all this work was long forgotten now. Kazuha snapped her head toward you, the fear inside her eyes was now mixed with incomprehension. Why would you even do that?
You were already regretting that dumb decision your stupid mouth made by itself. Now you were just mentally preparing yourself for the worse time of your life, far ahead of the day you had your wisdom teeth removed.
"So you have a crush on him?" You saw one of the girls ask and you knew she had something in mind while asking that. The mission was clear right now, you had to limit the damage, by all cost.
The thought of it made no sense to you, no you couldn't possibly have just a slight crush for him. But for Kazuha's sake you had to put on the act of your life.
"He is good looking, is it that shocking?" the nonchalance in your tone was crazy, somebody give you an oscar right now because you're giving the act of your whole life.
But after all you didn't lie, you found the man good looking.
"No it's just that... I wasn't expecting you out of all people to have such account..."
As you were about to answer, the teacher came in and started the lecture right away switching everybody's attention to whatever he was saying, even tho you still saw the girls stealing glances in your direction. This was incomparable to the day you got your wisdom teeth removed, it was way less painful back then.
"Thank you..." Kazuha whispered, making you sigh.
"You owe me for your whole life now girl..."
By the end of the week you knew everybody knew about your secret fan girl twitter account, you were suddenly the centre of everybody's attention, people shooting glances at you every now and then. After the incident, you made sure with Kazuha that she DELETED that stupid account before even more damages were made (even if you deeply knew it was too late).
You were suddenly glad that you weren't in the same major Heeseung was in, at least you would not be running into him randomly. There was still a very thin chance that he would never hear about that fangirl account or something and this is quite litteraly what you were wishing for.
You had to wait for a week before you stopped hearing whispers whenever you walked by (it's hard to think that you're in university and not highshcool with how people reacted to this whole drama...) the storm was now behind you (or so you like to think because in reality it didn't stop at all), you just had to go ahead, and by going ahead you really meant anywhere but near the sociology major zone, out of fear that you'll run into Heeseung.
That's why when Kazuha asked you to go to a party you refused, knowing that it's always one of Heeseung's friends throwing parties, and you weren't taking that risk.
But of course you never refuse anything to Kazuha, it's just how you show your love to your friends -even though sometimes you wish your love language would've been words of affirmations and not give in to whatever your friends want- and one thing lead to another you were ready, in front of the house where the party was being held. It was the -huge- house of one of the guys in the same major as Heeseung, but Kazuha swore to you that he wasn't going to be at the party because he was busy, it was Kazuha's roomate that told her that and (it helped Kazuha getting what she wanted: you going to the party).
The sight of the house left you wordless because you weren't aware at all that someone that rich would be studying in the same university as you.
The house was so impressive it got you stuck in front of the doorway, staring at it while considering if you were dressed well enough just to step inside and the answer obviously was no. You were just wearing a cargo pant with a crop top and a leather jacket, of course you weren't wearing someting good enough for the house.
"I can't..." you said to yourself, turning around. It didn't matter that you just texted Kazuha to say that you arrived, you were ready to run back to your place and you really would've done it if it wasn't for the man you bumped into.
"Are you running away?" A soft chuckle leaving his lips as you shifted your gaze to his face, only for you to recognize Lee Heeseung.
The first thing you thought about was the LIE Kazuha had told you, the man was right in front of you in the flesh. For a "too busy to be here" man he seemed very present, relaxed and free.
It was far from your first time seeing him this close but for a second your breath was cut, your body stiffening as if you were caught red handed doing something bad.
Either it's the shame of getting caught chickening out of a party, the guilt of knowing that you -kind of- stalked him for the past year because of your best friend, or the overwhelming embarasment of the possibilty of him knowing that you were the one managing a fangirl account of him even if it isn't really you...
You quickly tried to regain composure from the built embarassement inside of you before answering him with some poorly faked nonchalance, wondering where your acting skills had gone "I just don't feel like going anymore, I think I'm sick or-"
His laugh echoing in your ears and his hand on your lower back stopped you from talking. He used his unexpected grab on you to turn you around with one hand on your shoulder, the other still well placed on your lower back. You then felt him leaning toward you and the heat of his breath dying close to your ear as he told you: "C'mon let's have fun inside."
You gasped.
The man didn't give you a single chance to escape, he was pushing you toward the doorway no matter that you gave him a desperate look or that you shook your head, he seemed determined to take you to that party.
If it was somebody else you would have taken their hands away from you an maybe you would've even scream at them, but there was something with Heeseung that stopped you from doing so, a supernatural force that just broke your ability to talk and disconnected your legs from your brain leaving them on auto-pilot, forcing you to follow Heeseung's lead.
As he pushed you inside, you realised that being impressed of the doorway was stupid, you should've guessed that the inside would be worse.
The entry was huge, so was the garden and the pool inside of it. There was people everywhere, music blasting (not that you just discovered it, you just didn't pay attention to it when you were in front of the house), even the lights were set in a cool way, there was colorful neon around the place maybe to give a more partyish vibe and it worked just fine because for an instant you thought you were at a fancy party that Jackson Wang hosted like in every single fanfiction.
After a few seconds of being impresed by the place, you realised that Heeseung's hands weren't on you anymore, taking it as your sign to finally run away from here but the man was still paying attention to you and once again stopped your from running away.
"Stop holding me hostage and let me go home please." You pleaded, both your hands joined in prayer sign with the best doe eyes you were capable of.
He lifted the hand that wasn't busy keeping you from escaping the party and moved his pointing finger from left to right, shaking his head along to say no, he wasn't letting you go home.
You sighed in defeat, maybe this was the universe's way to tell you that you had to stay here, and at least you'll have some tea to spill when you'll fid Kazuha amongst the crowd of the party.
You'll tell her how her campus crush hold you hostage and made you move around inside the house with his arm resting around your shoulders- When did he put his arm on your shoulders?- Once again your body was moving alone, following Heeseung inside the house, toward the living room where his friend group was settled. When you realised the arm on your shoulders you pushed it gently, you were uncomfortable with this and he understood it, immediately taking it down while muttering a slight "sorry", he still kept pushing his hand on your lower back to lead you toward one of the free couches.
As you pop down on the leather sofa, you realise that Heeseung dragged you far enough so that people will not give attention to the both of you and you let out a defeated sight. You tried so hard not to get involved with him.
"Why would you come to a party just to renounce last minute?" Heeseung asks you, his tone seemingly geniunely curious. You can't tell what it is but something in his demeanor is telling you he will not let you go so soon. His body is fully turned toward you, his crossed legs touching yours, the slight friction making you contract your legs' muscles each time.
"My friend asked me to come but you know... I just don't like parties..."
"Why isn't your friend with you? They chickened out as well?" He jocked. He doesn't believe you, either because he thinks you're a loser and you don't have any friends or he knows. For your own well being you'll think it's the first option.
You gave him a side eye, making him smirk. Oh he shouldn't be giving you that look, you're not really in the mood to get teased by him. "No, she must be somewhere in the crowd, I texted her that I was here a minute ago so-"
"-Let's wait for her here then."
The mood suddenly shifted into one that you couldn't quite describe, it was just the way his eyes wouldn't let go of your figure... What was his problem? Maybe you looked really bad? Or funny?
Or he knew...
"I really don't think I'll enjoy the party... let me go please." you whined once again, maybe you'll end up having what you want if you ask non stop for it.
For the nth time you looked at him as he shook his head in disaproval "There is no going home, I'll help you enjoying tonight don't worry." The same smirk sticking on his face as if it would kill him to just not look at you as if he was permanently teasing you.
"I'm your shining armor knight, here to help you have the night of your life baby love." A scoff escaped your lips because of how cheesy that line was, and you almost threw up because of the emphasis on the cringey nickname he gave you. He did it on purpose because he knew how you'd react to it, espacially to that specific pet name, he knew you too well.
"Heeseung..." you grouched, eyes fixed on his while he looked at you with a slight pout on his face, he was mocking you, giving you false pity. You knew from the beginning it was useless to try to escape from him if he caught you.
Heeseung and you knew each other since you were 10 and him 12. Your older brother had a huge group of friend -unlike you- and Heeseung was one of them.
You never paid attention to your brother's friends. Why? Because you were uninterested in them to the point it was hard for you to remember some of their names. If your brother was a social butterfly and tried to befriend every human being it wasn't your case, plus you had enough friends on your own to try to befriend his. That was until Heeseung.
The first time you saw him he seemed shy, when your brother opened the door wide and declared that you had to let them use the big tv so they could have a smash bros tournament Heeseung seemed uneasy with that idea. You remember it because when you took your stuffs to leave -while rolling your eyes and giving the biggest attitude to your brother- Heeseung excused himself for disturbing you.
That is how you ended up remembering him as the polite one. Since he was the polite one, you were cool with him. You learned his name fast as he was often going to your place to do whatever teenage boys like to do and that you're not interested in. And at some point you began to chit-chat with him learning things about each other and he ended up opening to you. And it was the moment you learned who really was Heeseung.
Of course he was well behaved, his parents taught him well and they had a beautiful son. At some point Heeseung became such a regular at yours that you weren't even surprised when he walked inside your house, you recognized him when he knocked on your door - five very recognizable firm knocks spaced by several seconds each to make it dramatic - in the end he was really nice and for once you could understand what your brother saw in him, he was fun to be around, a good friend.
But this was hidding his real true identity, there is a reason why he became friend with someone like your brother, if they clicked that well it was because they were similar in some aspects.
Heeseung was popular, you would've never guessed it based on how he behaved at home but he really enjoyed it. Back then you were kind of unaware of his and your brother's popularity, unaware that the attention your brother and Heeseung gave you would soon become the worst thing to deal with ever.
At first they treated you as some sort of mascot, each time they walked past you they would scream your name, make you name the one you liked the most -nobody was surprised when you always answered Heeseung-, they forced you to walk with them to go home, dragging you around with them each time they crashed at the town's old soccer field until late.
And the rumor got spread way too easily that Beomgyu's sister was in the building and that she always spent time with his whole friendgroup, but especially with Heeseung.
Your friends found it very cool but you didn't. Older girls began to walk to you, taking you away from your friends to talk about your brother and Heeseung, always and suddenly everything began to be about them. What was Heeseung like when not at school? What was your brother's favourite tv show? Have they ever talk to you about girls? Who?
After you explicitely told them that you didn't wanted to talk about them those same girls that treated you like a friend became hostil to you, glaring at you each time your brother or Heeseung would walk past you and tease you about something casual, some even began to create sort of a competition of who is closer to the boys even if you never agreed on participating.
You hoped it would stop after they left middle school for highschool. You had a break for two years. Nobody was triggered by your interractions with them. People had nothing to add fuel to their curiosity about your relationship with Heeseung and you finally were at peace. At least at school.
At home, Heeseung began to add to your brother's bullying. They would always tease you about everything, it was armless nothing really deep but it was unwanted attention from them and you were short tempered so they just had to annoy you for the sole fact that it was easy. The main topic of their teasing being your non existent love life, while they had a list of persons waiting just to be looked at by them as long as the Burj Khalifa.
You were suddenly the bitchless loser of the house, reading about romance all the time but never being the one living it.
Then you went to highschool. And they were there.
For a whole year they made sure to drive you crazy. Encouraged by your brother, Heeseung began to call you by every pet name known to mankind, just because they saw one when they stole one of your books. Boo, sugarplum, cutie pie, darling, honey bear... you had no break. His favourite one was baby love, you almost threw up every time he called you that but it made him so happy to see your constipated face whenever he called you that in public.
On the bright side since your first middle school year you were more brave and even tho people knew something was up between you and those two, no one really went to you to ask about it, the glares remained but at least they were silent.
When they graduated and eventually went to college it stopped. Heeseung wasn't around that much anymore and he seemed to be busy. Maybe it was college that kept him from visiting or whatever but it made your life way calmer and god how much you liked that.
The few times you saw him it was brief but he never missed a chance to tease you with the pet name you couldn't escape from, baby love. It was just so stupid but it sticked. Even your own parents began to call you that and you almost became crazy.
Every time they called you that, you thought about Heeseung, cursed at him for being the reason your whole family refered to you as baby love, and more because if someone should be calling you that it should be only him. After all he was the one who made that pet name up, not the others.
When you moved to uni you knew Heeseung was majoring in sociology and that your own university was providing a sociology major, you just didn't know where he was studying but the chances for him being in the exact same university as the one you wanted was so low that you went there easy minded. When you realised that you should have asked your brother where his bestfriend studied it was already too late, he was on campus, on the first day of class, his eyes as wide as his smile.
You don't have no superpower but you knew what he was thinking, he wanted to jump on you and celebrate your reunion. But before he embarassed you in front of the whole campus you ran from him. You decided that instead of asking him to leave you, you would ignore him. But of course you can never escape forever, reality always punched you in the end, you couldn't stay away from him forever.
"Why are you even doing that?" you asked, in reality you knew he just missed teasing you and a part of you missed him too because, if he was mainly annoying he wasn't always a nuisance and sometimes you had really good conversations with him. But you were stressed out regarding a certain twitter account, but he hadn't say about it yet so you were starting to assume that maybe -just maybe- he didn't know.
"Because I caught you running away."He giggled.
You rolled your eyes, before looking back at him deadpan. "I didn't try to run away."
"Yes you did."
"Ok I did."
He laughed, easing the tension or whatever was making this situation feel somewhat heavy. You were glad because you couldn't bare the creeping hotness on your body that -you were absolutely sure- made you flush. Hopefully the dim light had your back hiding your red face from him.
You also hope the faded lights were hidding your secret glances at him. You didn't know where to look at, because looking at him seemed too much for you but there also was the fact that your eyes were just attracted to him.
You wanted to detail him, look every detail of his face, understand how he parted his hair or witness for yourself his famous bambi eyes that you avoided for so long but that you really liked in reality. It had been so long since you've seen him this close, you felt like getting back you favourite old teddy bear.
But you couldn't, the only thing you allowed yourself to look at without too much shame were his clothes, you were surprised to see that you somehow matched tonight, he was dressed in the same colors as you, that made you smile.
"Now that I caught you Y/N I had a question..."
You humed a quiet "hm" while nodding, if he wanted to kow why you escaped from him you knew that you will have no shame telling him that he was as embarassing as an intrusive parent and that if he wanted you to behave otherwise than you've been, then he had to stop the pet names and everything else, just drop the teasing.
"Do you really think that I'm breedable? And agonizingly good looking?" He finally asked, on a teasing tone pressing his lips together on a line to prevent himself from laughing at you
If he had the decence to keep his calm, you didn't. You blurted out a laugh before even thinking of restraining yourself, regaining your composure and seriousness. Kazuha...
Why would she say some mad things like that? Your eyes met his, he had let go of his stiff composure to chuckle along with you, dang, it has been a while since you last heard him laugh like that.
You ignored the weird feeling inside your chest that made you shake your leg out of anxiety and tried to get back in character. You had to make him believe it was all a joke. "I mean, it's not like you're the only man that got praised on that account."
The simplest way to survive this discussion was to just let him think that it was banal, something really not that deep and that he should be laughing about. But you were internally screaming, it had to be him, the only man you really know on campus. After that you were sure of one thing, you would never talk to him or talk about him ever anymore because of how awkward the situation was.
"Yeah but I doubt that you'll ever cross Charles Leclerc's path." His hand reaching for your knee to stop it from constantly shaking, but you had to express your stress because you weren't expecting that the man knew more than you thought about the tweets.
"Well destiny is a curious thing you see..."
"And destiny made us meet tonight, isn't that crazy?"
You chukled, destiny made you meet him at 10 and what did you get out of it? The more embarassing moment of your life? You're litteraly melting on the couch, not feeling any air coming inside your lungs. Maybe you'll die soon.
"Listen." He put his hand on your head, gently touching your hair. "We both know this is really out of character of you to do this. And I find it extremely hard to believe this is actually you behind that account..." You felt the weight of his gaze on you, he was analysing you while you were pondering what would be the best option between telling him the truth, that no it wasn't you saying all that about him, or if it would be better just to let him think that it was you because you felt bad for Kazuha.
"You're not really the one behind all this right?" His smirk was nowhere to be found. That casual demeanour of his was long forgotten, remained only the ghost of his touch on your head when he stared at you, almost worried about your answer. "This can't be the reason why you've been avoiding me, right?"
The ease you usually felt beside him disappeared instantly, adding to the feeling of embarassment, you were sure you had to tell him the truth but there was still Kazuha in your mind. She would die of embarassment if you told him the truth.
But the way Heeseung's body stiffened after he asked, as if he wanted to get reassured, to know that no, you don't have feelings for him, it made you suffocate. He wasn't being the one you knew, his usual self, so warm and teasing, no. His hand patting on your hand was so obviously meant to put you back in place, to remember who you are, his bestfriend's sister. Suddenly you realised he turned into a cold and distant person and you hated it.
You were rejected even before you had feelings, and it hurted. Your face showing an obvious frown, you swayed internally in your mind between loyalty and your ego.
You would never be able to look at your reflection in the mirror or at Kazuha if you told him the truth but you would never be able to face him ever again if he thought you had feelings for him.
"Finally I found you!" Says a just appeared out of nowhere Kazuha. Her eyes switching from you to Heeseung, probably trying to read the room.
Heeseung's eyes detached from yours, letting you breathe again as if you had been drown under water until now.
"Kazuha right?" Heeseung said while getting up. Her confused face couldn't process the fact that Heeseung knew her name, and so were you because you never told him about her. "Y/N told me a lot about you, I'm glad she has a friend like you." He smiled at her while tapping her shoulder while you couldn't refrain your eyes from rolling. "Well I'll leave you girls. Have fun?" He said with a smile before walking away to a couch full of people who must be his friends.
You felt so relieved to see him go away that your eyes began to get wet, it was too much to handle for you and your nerves were giving up, the tension was too much to handle.
"Care to give me context?"
You sighed, voice trembling "I'll tell you everything, let's just move away from here I'm suffocating."
You two traveled inside the house, searching for drinks in the kitchen before finding a cool spot by the pool. There you had to share everything with Kazuha starting from the first thing you never told her: you actually knew Heeseung personaly.
The shock on her face being evident as she slapped you when you told her that while she was fangirling over the man, you were spending afternoons with your brother and him. All that behind her back.
You had to justificate yourself for a good 5minutes for it, if you hadn't told her in the first place it was because you never expected her to end up being your bestfriend and after because you just brushed it off, yeah she was fangirling over him but it would've made her uncomfortable to know that you knew him so you just kept it to yourself.
And even tho it was hard to convince her it was for the better she ended up forgiving you for the sake of the rest of the tea. She was mad at you for not telling her but she was more curious about how you ended up trapped with him than anything else.
And by the time you told her everything about the bad school memories, the idea of ignoring him, the moment you decided to endorse the responsibility of the twitter account for her and Heeseung's sake and the whole kidnapping thing, her jaw was on the ground.
"Girl I'm jealous I want that kind of story in my life."
You chuckled "No you don't I feel terrible now! You clearly haven't seen the fear inside his eyes. If I really liked him I would've been crying ugly on the ground by now!"
She gauged you before tilting her head "Whatever, no more hiding things please I feel mortified now, I said crazy things about him."
"Yeah talking about that, when did you call him breedable?"
She smacked her hand on her mouth before laughing hysterically.
Tonight ended up being way funnier than you thought. After the confession session, you and your friend ended up dancing with some of her friends that enjoyed your company, even Yunjin (your colleague) joined you she was the one hypping you up the most.
You even forgot ever drama that happened before you tried at least), you just enjoyed your time for once and by the time you got home you realised that you did well by going to the party. For once you went out and -even tho you wouldn't go partying every night- you thought that you could do it more often.
After all the drinks were good, the house was crazy, people had some good vibes and dancing messily with people you appreciated was stress relieving. You then settled the idea that as long as Heeseung wasn't going to the party you'll seriously think about going there.
Working during the weekend isn't something you enjoy, but it's something you need. As much as your parents help you with your financial situation they can't pay the rent instead of you, you were lucky enough that they were friend with the landlord that agreed to lower the rent just for you.
You began to work to save up a year before you moved in, on your first year at uni, you found a cozy little café not so far from your place or the campus, the place is nice, the boss is very kind to you and you met two friends by working there, Yunjin and Sunoo. The first is two years older than you, she majors in psychology and the second is the same age as you, he majors in comms.
They are different but you really like them both. They are always smiling and lighting up the mood, so much that working with them doesn't feel like working at all.
"Oh my god girls you'll never guess who just ordered a mango smoothie." Whispered Sunoo walking toward youn his hand covering his mouth in shock. Your eyes met Yunjin's, trying to guess which of your unofficial celebrities just walked inside the place.
It's something that got developed without you realising it, one day you were gossiping about some clients the next they were celebrities in your eyes just because they were the subject to every small talk between you in the café.
"Is it Karl?" Said Yunjin, as the souvenir of the unkown man came back to you. You named him Karl because Sunoo sweared it suited him, he said it was because of his orange suit or something like that. And since Karl is a regular in the café and he always wears clothes with colours that are armfull to the human's eye it sticked out.
Sunoo shook his head as he moved toward the blender with the mango slices. "Better!"
You had to think hard about it, the celebrities were numerous but the ones that are better than Karl aren't that numerous since he is the main attraction of your days (you alway bet on the colour he'll wear). "Oh my god is it sponge bob?" you said, remembering the man with the big gap between his front teeth that got dumped two weeks ago because he cheated on her -now ex- wife.
The boy frantically nodded, both you and Yunjin gasped. Making sponge bob's order while discussing. All three of you agreeded that if you were dumped publicly like he was that day, you'd never show up to the cafe again.
But there he was and as Sunoo walked back to the counter to give him his drink, you and Yunjin peeked at him curious about the new girl he was bringing today that Sunoo told you about. She seemed way younger than him -you all assumed that bob was about 50 years old- and the girl couldn't speak english at all.
Sunoo small talked with sponge bob, trying to look friendly when in reality he was trying to know what was their relationship, while in the back you and Yunjin were speculating about them.
Sunoo greeted them one last time before both clients left the café with their orders, leaving the place empty with just you three inside. Sunoo turned back toward you before he exploded in laughter.
"What? What is it?" asks Yunjin, eager to know what was so funny and so were you.
Sunoo barely could stop his laughter. "I asked him if she was his daughter because well..."
"Yeah she seemed about our age..." You said, cleaning what Sunoo used to make bob's order, waiting for him to answer.
"Well in fact she is his wife apparenty."
The loud gasps you and Yujin let out after this shaking revealation made Sunoo's laughs resumed with renewed vigour. It's not without being interrupted by giggles and disgusted faces that you learned that sponge bob and his new girl got married after they met at work which was weird because he was married to a white women two weeks ago.
And you discussed the matter for a long time, examinating the matter for long minutes and turn by turn making up stories before you came with a conclusion.
"Met at work and got married? That's exactly what I would've said if I bought someone!" You blurted out, causing another erruption of laughter inside the café, all three of you folding because of the intensity of your hysterical laughter, leaning on whatever was near not to fall.
"Who bought someone?"
You all turned in shock that you didn't even heard the person standing behind the counter entering (before Yunjin exploded once again, not controling herself for a bit).
Heeseung.
Sunoo squeezed his lips together, trying to appear normal in front of the client while you felt like you were melting just like a Mii in tomodachi life after you gave it something it hated to eat.
You had been avoiding Heeseung like a madman since the party incident. You never gave him an answer and you were persuaded he believed that you were the one behind this accout and the idea of it was unbearable.
What was even worse than him thinking you were his fangirl was the souvenir of his tensed cold figure beside you that night, you swore that nobody would ever see you in that position again no matter what it cost.
Only a few days went by but the change was there, wherever you went you were extra careful about who was there and if by misfortune Heeseung happened to be there you ran away before anyone could lay an eye on you.
But there he was, in front of you, in the café you worked at. You shoot a quick glance at your laughing friends whose demeanure was crumbling, Yunjin lauging on the ground with tears droping from her eyes and Sunoo visibly shaking because of his giggles, hidding behind his hands.
You were the only one able to take an order and you hated sponge bob for it, if he never bought that woman you wouldn't have to talk to him.
"I'm sorry you heard that..." You calmly excused yourself, setting behind the register in full work mode.
Heeseung smiled at you, it had you wonder if the cold man from the party was really him because how could someone act so unbothered after being so distant. Still there was something uncomfortable in the air. "No it's funny don't worry. Just remind me to never walk here accompanied by a foreign woman."
You snorted, your muscles loosening a bit. "What can I get for you?" you gave him your best commercial smile, looking up at him only to meet his warm gaze on you.
"Do you only do take outs?"
"What would be these tables for if we did?" you couldn't help being sarcastic, showing him the whole room where chairs and tables had been carefully disposed and settled for customers.
Heeseung snorted at his own question, understanding how stupid he sounded. Somehow these few words exchanged eased off the odd energy between you. Sunoo and Yunjin weren't laughing anymore, or you couldn't hear them, seeing that Heeseung was looking at the menu you turned around just to be sure your colleages weren't dead because of how funny you were but thankfully they were still there, regaining their composure by drinking water and drying the joy tears on their cheeks.
When you turned back toward Heeseung he wasn't alone anymore, three more boys were there, probably his friends, the only one you seemed to recognize was Jake, he was Sunoo's senior and according to your friend he was the personification of the golden retriever man. You assumed the other two were in the same major as Heeseung since you could recall one time or two when you had caught a sight of them when stalking Heeseung with Kazuha.
You were ready to work and take their orders when you saw the face of one of the two you couldn't name change in surprised before he pointed a finger at you -very polite thanks- his mouth taking an O shape.
"Hey isn't that the girl from that Twitter account?" The man asked as if you weren't just in front of him.
"Oh my god no way! Heeseung you finally meet your fan!" Jake exclaimed, giggling as if it was the funniest thing on earth when it really wasn't. You had to fight your innerself not to jump at him and force him to take back what he said. Fortunately for your job's sake you didn't, keeping a straight posture while your eyes drifted slowly to Heeseung's uneasy face.
This is so humiliating.
"Been knowing her for a while actually." he let out between fake giggles.
"Wait seriously?" His friends turned toward him with wide eyes, as if they made the discovery of the year.
And there you remained, unmoving behind the counter, ready to just do your job with a constipated smile plastered on your face while they talked about you like you weren't just there in front of them.
"Yeah we've been friends since forever basically, right Y/N?"
Was he trying to clear your relationship by saying this? You had no idea, what you were sure however is that it was the last time you had to endure that, next time -if there is a next time- you'll just cuss them out, all of them, including Heeseung, and then you'll just move out of the country just to be sure you'll never have to deal with them again.
"Yup." Agreeing is the only thing you can do right now because you somehow feel trapped by all thoses eyes on you, even worse when one of these googly pairs are Heeseung's.
His lips curled up a bit more but you barely noticed it, you're mad at the man right now.
Thankfully for you, god felt your pain and soon after they ordered and went to sit at one of the tables far from the counter. It seemed they were about to spend a fair amount of time in the café because as soon as they sat down you saw them take out books computers and pens. They were having a studying session at your work place and you just hated it.
"You good?" asked Sunoo in a low tone while you were cleaning.
You side eyed him, displaying all the anger bottled up inside of you because you were incapable of lying to him about your mood. It made him snort a laugh before he peeked at the four men sitting across the room by the window. "It's not like he is the only man you praised..." mumbled Sunoo.
"Right?! Why are they even mentioning it?" added Yunjin visibly as pissed as you about the interaction you had with the men. You were glad they were on your side and not judging (at least not in front of you).
You like how after that they changed the topic, not asking further questions about your relation with Heeseung or the Twitter account. They never did. When it was announced that you were the crazy fangirl they straight comforted you, asked if you were okay and basically helped you not to die of embarrassment.
When the boys left they all waved at you good bye claiming the place was really good and that they would be coming back soon but you hoped they were lying because if it meant having to deal with their insufferable giggles and glances then you'll just jump from you window tonight.
Only Heeseung gave you a tight smile to which you didn't answer, you were too pissed anyway, you know you are responsible for the situation and he doesn't like the idea of you liking him -you don't like it yourself- but it doesn't mean he can let his friends just embarass yourself like they did.
You'll always be thankfull to your friends for their help to just make you forget your worries because this night, after work Sunoo offered ice cream for the three of you, you had another great laughing session about sponge bob between times where they tried to poison you with their attrocious mint choco ice creams.
They even walked you home and it was the sweetest thing ever, but once you were alone in your appartment you couldn't refrain your rage anymore, you took your phone and just spammed Kazuha with bad words about Heeseung, telling her that she shouldn't have a crush on an asshole like him.
The following days were strange, you usually don't see Heeseung so often on campus but it seemed that things move fast. From seeing him whenever Kazuha asked you to take a detour just to catch a glance of him, you began to see him everywhere, at the library, near your favourite restaurant or even at the park near your place, he was everywhere.
Making eye contact with him was always brief and awkward, you aknowledged each other's presence but never did anything further than that, probably to create more space between you, to deepen the gap between you. You would've never imagined things turning that way with Heeseung but here you were.
People still stared at you when you walked down the hallways of university, their loud whispers coming to your ears was unbearable and if it wasn't for Kazuha's AirPods you would've probably ripped your ears from your head several times.
You spent so much time planning your peaceful uni-life and it got snatched from you with just a little lie to protect your friend's reputation. You talked about the issue a lot with Kazuha and Sunoo, because yes you ended up telling Sunoo all about it, Kazuha did. You told her that the fewest people knowing about the truth was the better for her but she insisted in telling him because according to her, getting an outsider's point of view was the best.
When he learned the truth Sunoo immediately called you stupid for ruining your own peace like that (which wasn't really helpful but true), soon after you began talking about ways to make people shutting their mouths about you and the twitter account, disappearing was apparently not an option even tho it was the best one in your opinion.
You debated about it for a long long night at yours when they came with their brightest stupidest idea: you had to start dating someone so people will understand that you moved on from Heeseung.
Easier said than done. You loved the idea of love, so finding a partner like that in a hurry and hang out with just some guy whom wasn't making you act stupid because of the attraction was just a no to you.
You deserved the whole meet cute thing, you wanted the magic feelings those that send butterflies inside your stomach, make your legs weak and your tongue dumb.
But you had no choice, Kazuha and Sunoo did the most disgusting thing you could ever think about, they signed you up on a dating app. You hated it, really, so much that they were the ones doing the swapping, finding the perfect bachelor for you and once they did they spent the rest of the pajama party texting him, trying to get you a date. And they succeeded.
That's how you ended up at a fancy Italian restaurant even tho you craved Mexican food, you've been asking to fill your stomach with enchiladas for two weeks but still they choose to send you eat pastas. No offences, you love Italian food, every Italian dish is a masterpiece, but you were hoping to eat something else than an overpriced bruschetta.
The man in front of you wasn't bad looking, if you were 100% honest he had good facial features, he seemed nice, tried to engage the conversation as much as he could and everything, but you couldn't get into it. No matter how hard you tried you couldn't help but feel drained by this date, your first date ever.
You hated it, because this wasn't what you planned inside your head. Your first date was supposed to be with someone you felt connected to, not just some random guy your friends forced you to hang out with for the sake of your tranquillity, claiming that you would click well with him. It was impossible for you to see him as a partner, you felt nothing, as usual.
The coversation was flowing but mainly because he was the one making the talking, not you. You were kind of just there, wondering why you ended up here, paying attention to what he said just enough so it feels like you're involved, that was until he told you he had other options but decided to hang out with you.
Were you supposed to thank him for his generosity? At this point you figured out that tonight would be terrible and you prefered being laughed at until the end of your time in uni than live something like that ever again.
This must be why people always say to never lower your standards, because if you did you'll be disappointed as hell and end up wishing to spend the rest of your life with cats and not men just like you were while leaving the restaurant.
In front of the place your date stopped before you, showing you every single teeth inside his mouth with how wide his mouth was open. Maybe he wasn't showing that much of what was inside your mouth, maybe you just over analized everything he did, maybe because he wasn't giving you thrills all over your body just by looking at you, you were growing less and less into him, maybe yes, but anyway everything he did was giving you the ick.
By the end of dinner you thought you could escape from the man but you couldn't, Kazuha and Sunoo planned carefully the date and right after you left the restaurant your date drove you both to a party because you apparently said you wanted to dance with him, you cursed at Kazuha and Sunoo for that line, a hundred, no a thousand times because you really hate the idea of dancing with that guy.
When you arrived at the party you fell trapped, you knew nobody, absolutely no one. He was studying in the same uni as you but he was from the other side of the campus, the side you were avoiding. He dabbed up a lot of person, you following him like a lost puppy -or more like a sad stuffed toy dragged around by its owner- while he introduced you to his friends as his date and gosh you hated that, couldn't he say your name instead of deshumanizing you the way he did?
After he greeted the entirety of the people in the small appartment, he let you plop down beside him on a couch, his arm casually landing on your shoulders making you gasp.
This isn't a trap, this is a kidnapping, this is torture, you needed to puke, or to breath, or to get drunk, maybe everything at once? No that'll be too embarassing, there is too many people around and the last thing you want is another label on your name along with the "crazy twitter fangirl".
"Can you get me something to drink?" You asked instead of embarassing yourself.
He smiled at you, something snarky behind his smirk that you decided to brush off because if you dig deeper you're scared you'll be labeled as a hysterical girl as well. He agreed, leaving you alone on the couch and you were so glad he did.
While he was gone you felt the fresh air filling your lungs, you saw the charm of the appartment and even appreciated the music. People were dancing and laughing. Maybe you would find Yunjin here, she loves thoses parties it wouldn't be out of character for her to be here.
Your eyes landed on a small group of people dancing, searching for your friend amongst them, when you felt the couch sinking beside you. You looked over your shoulder, ready to see your date but to your biggest surprise you didn't see him but Jake, Heeseung's friend, giving you a bright smile as if he was the happiest person on earth just because he saw you.
He dabbed you up, and you didn't move, letting him do so without figuring what was happening at all, you're not close with him so there is no reason for him to act that way. "Didn't know you would be here!" He happily said loud enough for you to hear him.
"Yeah it kind of happened..." you nodded mechanically, not really sure if you should talk to him as a friend or as the jerk that humiliated you a few days before at your work place.
His lips never went down, he kept staring at you with that same weird smile of his but it was actually better than having your date beside you so you just decided not to make him leave, maybe he will left by his own initiative...
"Hey Heeseung told us about the Twitter thing, sorry for last time, I was rude." He ended up saying, a bit embarassed.
You sighed, of course he brought that up. At least he excused himself and...
"He did what?" You asked, genuinely curious about it because Heeseung does not know anything about the truth behind your supposed Twitter account.
Still acting shy, Jake rubbed the back of his neck with one hand as if to get the awkwardness away. "Well he told us how you just made those posts to tease him but it leaked..."
This isn't what happened at all. It was sooo far from the truth that you even snorted out a laugh, Heeseung wanted to chase away the idea of you just crushing on him so bad that he lied. Is it so shamefull to have you having a crush on him? Like what is so wrong with you that he has to tell his friends a lie that would make you not crushing on him? "Did he tell a lot of person?"
The boy beside you pursed his lips, thinking about it. "Just us and people who run their mouth about it..."
You nodded absent-mindedly, at least he found you an excuse for people to stop thinking you were his fan. It hurted to know that he found you so not deserving to be on the list of girls that once had a crush on him that he lied, but you had to see it on the bright side, you now have an excuse, and this is actually way better than going on a date with someone you're not even a bit interested in.
"You know I'm actually disappointed." The aussie accent took you away from your thoughts before you could sink in them, you gave him an unsure look, tilting your head in confusion. Why would he be disappointed? Seeing how you absolutely didn't understood why he said that, the look on his face changed to a more amused one. "I ship you both."
"You what now?" You blurted out, almost offended by what he just said. Heeseung may be a beautifull man that can be nice from time to time, it doesn't erase the fact that he is one of the biggest opps in your life.
Jake had to hide his smile behind his hand because of how hard he began to laugh, soon you joined him, laughing as well.
"Don't laugh!" He said, pushing your shoulder.
"Sorry but it sounds so ridiculous!" You giggled, brushing off the idea of being in a relationship with Heeseung by waving your hand.
"It's not tho!" Jake retorted, seemingly comitted to the idea. "Like it could be like one of those cheesy romcom you know!"
But you knew the romcom better than he could, there was no way something like this would make a good plot.
Like come on, the brother's bestfriend is such a basic plot seen again and again, and this one would lead nowhere, like none of you is attracted to the other, your chemistry is crumbling due to the Twitter situation and you already know that next time you'll see Heeseung face to face you'll probably die of embarassment. "You should go see him! How come you never talked to each other on campus despite being chilhood friends?"
You snorted, looking at the ceiling, yeah Heeseung told him that you knew each other really well, you almost forgot it. Then your eyes landed back on the man beside you, waiting for anything that would come out of your mouth. "When people know I know him they harass me to help them getting closer to him. I wanted to be free for once."
Jake's mouth took an O shape as he nodded, he was understanding your point. "So you were jealous that other girls wanted him?"
He did not understood your point. You shook your head, taken aback by his remark as you breathed out a chuckle. You were about to say something back to this weird australian by your side when your date came back, he basically chased Jake away to take back his spot next to you before giving you one of the cups he had in hands.
Jake's eyebrows went strangely high when he realized you weren't exactly alone, you had a man by your side tonight, realizing your situation he didn't argue and left right away, excusing himself after dabbing you up as a goodbye.
After Jake left, your date didn't ask about him, he just went back to your date and came back along with him the stifling air of his presence beside you, Jake wasn't a welcomed guest but he ended up being fun at least. Your date on the other hand just seemed to slowly make you lose your temper, leading you to crazyness.
Your disappointed eyes followed Jake's motion as he walked away from you to get to a small group of boys, that's when you realised amongst this group was Heeseung, sat on a high chair on his own. He was already looking at you with the pout he always had on his face when he didn't like something.
His eyes drifted away from you when Jake told him something, making Heeseung frown and turning his back to you. Wrinkles slowly drawing on your face because why the hell would he act like that after seeing you? He could at least wave at you?
Blinking once, your eyes drifted on Jake who, with a boyish smile, gestured to show you Heeseung, as if to remember you what he said.
He ships you with Heeseung.
You shook your head, hiding your growing smile with your hand to him and your date.
What a stupid nonsense night.
You expected your social batteries to run low before your date decided it was time to leave, but your tried your best to be nice with him, dancing with him even if it was the last thing you wanted, feeling his touch on your hips was too much to handle but you still said nothing. You were so brave but couldn't grow the balls to tell him you wanted to go home so at some point you decided to just sat down on a couch, telling him that you were tired, and hoping for nobody to look your way.
If only things were that simple, your date followed you, he stayed by your side and talked again. You were so tired of everything that you couldn't pretend anymore, you were silent, way more than before, only answering him by smiling or nodding to keep things polite because if you listened to the voice inside your head, you would've yelled at him to leave you alone.
At some point you decided to ask him to get you something to drink just so you could chill out and relax. As soon as he left, you massaged your temples, the music made your growing headache unbearable and you hated you for agreeing to that stupid date thing.
"Come on Y/N let's go home."
You turned around, eyebrows frowned when you saw Heeseung standing near you, offering you his hand.
"I can't I'm with someone." You brushed off the idea, your hand still. You might be desperate to leave you're still well educated.
Heeseung rolled his eyes, looking around, his hand stil standing between you. You didn't understand that it wasn't an offer you could turn down until you felt his hand grabbing your wrist pulling you closer to him. "Let's say goodbye and leave then."
If you weren't so drained maybe you would've fought back to stay but you weren't in a state to fight, all you wanted was to find back the peace of your quiet home. Heeseung dragged you around to the kitchen where you met your date, he looked surprised when he saw you with Heeseung and even more when he noticed the hold of his hand on your wrist.
"She's tired, I'll get her home." Heeseung said before leaving right away, your date couldn't even say anything back, he just stared as Heeseung dragged you out of the party.
The fresh night air brushed your cheeks and suddenly you could breath again. The music wasn't destroying your brain anymore and you already felt the goods of leaving the party. Heeseung opened his car for you to get inside and you did without a word, the car's seat was comfortable, so much that you knew you could've slept on the spot.
"Ready?" Heeeung asked, his face relaxed compared to when he was inside the party but still holding on an incomfortable frown on his eyebrow. He handed you his phone for you to enter your adress and when everything was ready, you left, the engine's sound lulling you.
"Who was the guy?" he asked casually.
"My date..." You answered, closing your eyes with how sleepy you were slowly getting.
Heeseung snorted, something between annoyance and amusement. "Yeah I figured out with the way you smiled at him..." you smiled? You barely could endure the man's presence how could you smile? You opened an eye, lazily looking at the man in the driver seat with his eyes fixed on the road.
The darkness gave him a mysterious look, he looked cool, as if you were in a movie, the street lights hitting his face in angles that made his face even more ethereal. "Not like you can't date or anything but...." He stopped talking for a second, shooting a glance in your direction, almost catching you admiring him.
"Like..." His eyes drifted away, too bad you closed your eyes, if not maybe you would've seen the nervousness on his face or the blush slowly covering his ears. "Weren't you supposed to have a crush on me? And knowing how you're never interested in nobody I'm just surprised that you know... you're interested by him as well."
You sighed a laugh, he addressed the elephant in the room and only with the sound of his voice, the uncertainty in it, you could feel the awkwardness of the man.
He hated that situation even more than you.
But right now, with how he brought it up just because of your date, if you didn't know he was giving everything to get you out of your supposed crush for him you could think that he is jealous. "He is good looking..."
"Right..." He sounded off, but everything sounds off ever since he learned about the twitter account. You hope that he'll stop thinking that you crush on him even tho he isn't stupid and probably know it's a desperate attempt to close mouths around.
The car stands in an awkward silence for a bit, with your eyes squinted you steal glances at him, he looks uneasy and you hate it.
Then you think about it, the lie he told his friends, the same lie that Jake told you about during the party.
"By the way Jake told me something, did you lie to your friends?" You had to ask because you couldn't not think about it, you were offended that he had to lie to take the idea of you cruhing on him far from him, but in some ways Heeseung was helping you getting away from the weird treatment people were giving you.
You had to hear him confirm it, confirm that he did that to help you and maybe ease his mind too. He deserved it at least.
"Yeah I saw how embarassed you were last time. And that way people can shut their mouths about it..." The explanations made sense but most of all they comforted you. He wasn't doing it only to get rid of you but also to help you.
"I figured people knowing we are friend was better than them bullying you because of your crush on me."
Maybe you overdid it when you decided to completely ignore him after you learned that you were in the same university.
You should've treated him as a friend at least because that's what you were, maybe it changed, maybe not because in the end, even with these unspoken words about the mess you're trapped into, you were still feeling at ease with him beside you.
You should be avoiding the subject of the Twitter account around him, you should be embarassed but you still feel the need to clean the air, make things less awkward for good.
"Thank you." You said, meeting his gaze in the rearview mirror.
The corners of his lips faintly lifted in satisfaction."You're welcome."
Silence settled back, still not easy or comfortable. His fingers were brushing the wheel nervously, his pointing fingers tapping on it to the rythm of the song playing inside the car. The weeknd had been one of his favourite artists for a while but he didn't seem to enjoy it right now, like he had too many things on his mind.
"What was your first thought when you saw that account?"
He turned his face toward you for a second, probably thinking wether he should lie or not, but you really hope he won't. The only thing you have in mind after asking it is to get things back to normal, or at least to a more casual status where both of you can live without dying of embarassment.
"I won't lie I was..." He started, his lips pressed in a thin line as he was searching for his words. "I was surprised, it's not everyday that I get called agonyzingly handsome." You feel the hint of a joke in his tone, and you really hope youre not misinterpreting things.
"Then I was shocked to know it was you, I never figured you out of all people would have that kind of account..." he sighs, probably hoping that the memory of you being the owner of the account would die with it. "But at least it wasn't someone I didn't know taking pictures of me while hiding in the campus bushes."
You're watching at you hands, you don't know hat you should be the more uncomfortable about, you were openly lying to him pretending you were the owner but just like you thought, the fact that it was you made it a little more acceptable for him. "I never wanted you to feel embarassed."
He shoots a glance at you, a reassuring smile on his lips. "I know, but to be frank my spot isn't the worst, I kind of feel bad for you now. I know you hate unwanted attention."
"Yeah..." You sighed while remembering how the past weeks have been for you, full of weirdness, awkward walks around campus and stares.
Silence lingers in the air a bit longer, both of you unable to say that talking about the issue is really making it easier for you. You've always heard "communication is key" but it's only now that you realise how rigth it is.
Now the air feels lighter in the car, you could even swear that Heeseung's frown had disappeared completly. It just needs a little something to be perfect. And that little thing you got it immediately, snapping your head toward him with a determined face.
"But just so you know, I don't think about you before I get in bed."
He bursts out a laugh, probably surprised that you just said it like that, but it's exactlt what you wanted, breaking the ice for good, having him laughing about it with you, realising that it's not very deep and things finally going back to normal.
"You don't?" He said back, his teasing smile was finally back, the one he whore while he made fun of you. You would've never guessed that you'd miss it that much, but it felt like your whole body was happy when you spotted it.
"You're good looking but you'll never have that spot Lee I'm sorry."
He shakes his head in fake disappointment "But out of all the men you posted about I'm the only one you know in real life."
"Yeah but I think we're good as friend."
This is it, the moment when you're back as the Y/N he knows. You see his innerpeace being back for good after you rejected the idea of a "you plus him" happenning right in front of him, you renounced the idea for good and maybe it had always been that simple.
He rejected you without you being in love with him and you rejected him without him having feelings for you.
"Yeah?" His eyes drifted toward yours, as if to seek for your sincere disaproval of whatever he thought you wanted.
"Absolutely."
"So..." Heeseung's sweet voice took you from your thoughts. "We cool now?"
There wasn't anything to hold grudges about after all, yeah he despises the idea of you having a crush on him but you don't have one, and you did enough by ghosting him from your life during the past years, you have to be cool with him, you owe him that at least for causing him so much trouble. "Why wouldn't we be?"
"Then let's have some beers yeah?"

Sunghoon wants to get back at you. He would be blind and deaf if he couldn't realize what was happening. You're playing him, trying to annoy him somehow just for your personal satisfaction. It infuriates him. Sure at the end of the day he always ends up smiling against his own will but who can blame him? The satisfied look you have on your face when you succeed at annoying him, that pursed smile you try to keep to yourself but fail to, it makes him crazy somehow.
That smile is what keeps him up at night thinking about a way to get back to you. Because he has to do something, you can't play him and get nothing in return.
He could annoy you back, but you have a tendency of holding grudges and he knows if he gets on your nerves at a bad time you'll ghost him for at least a month. So that's not an option. His mind keeps wandering before he's reminded of something. Your quietness, your eyes set on the stock as you hardly swallowed, your red cheeks, your unsure motions, that whole confused act when he smacked you out of nowhere. Maybe he had his answer.
Sunghoon's phone lit up, a notification appearing, it wasn't from you obviously. You're not the one that has been texting him for the last hour just to mock him and make fun of his whole behaviour during the dinner with his friends.
When he read on his phone "02z" he threw his whole body on his bed, if he had to read his friends' bullshit he had to be sat at least.
He saw the first texts, "what you're mad for loverboy?", "Nobody is taking your girl from you big boy" (this one stung more because you're the one usually calling him big boy, not fuckass Jay).
Jake(parasite2): Bro is so whipped for his girl he doesn't answer anymore Jay(parasite1): He is too busy trying to regain his nonchalantness in the dark
Sunghoon sighed reading it, they kept going with the slanders and mocking jokes, he knew he was done for, he would hear about it for the 10 next years. On an other note, this meant that you convinced his friends. In the end he stressed for nothing, you did great (if he consider that the Jay almost feeding you never happened).
sunghoon: Both of you shut up? Jake(parasite2): Being rude I see...
Sunghoon stared at his phone, another text was coming, he knew it.
Jake(parasite2): Did she put you on sex ban to punish you for your rude behaviour?
The sound Sunghoon made after reading this next had never been made before. He didn't know what he should be more shocked by, the sudden mention of his sexual life with you (that doesn't exist) or the fact that Jake was calling him out for his behaviour too??
Sunghoon prefers to keep his life private, even with his close friends he likes to keep a secret garden only for him, and his sexual life is part of this secret garden. It doesn't matter that Jake likes to praise his sexual experiences and tells everything he loves to do with his girl.
So he decides to focus on the part that is more family friendly.
Sunghoon: I wasn't rude???? Jay(parasite1): He is so much not getting laid tonight lol
The fact that Jay joined made him even more mad. His eyebrows joined in a deep frown while his fingers typed faster than he could think.
Sunghoon: Even if I was I wouldn't tell you
He paused a second in front of the last text he sent, breath out, and had to rub his eyes to destress. Why was he always so bad at arguing when he was mad?
Jake(parasite2): SO YOU'RE REALLY NOT HITTING IT TONIGHT LMAOOOOOOO
He will hear about it for the rest of his life, at this point maybe he needs to take Jake away from his life. After all what does a lifelong friendship means? Is it that important?
Jay(parasite1): On a more serious tone you look cute together I'm happy you found yourself someone like her Jay(parasite1): Like you even display affection in public that's nice to see
At this instant Sunghoon smiles, at least Jay is mature.
Jay(parasite1): Hope she doesn't keep the sex ban for too long tho I can see you're already struggling sunghoon: I thought you were happy for me turns out you're still annoying Jake(parasite2): He's just jealous of being the last one single sunghoon: Mister loyal hopelessly devoted man can't pull Jay(parasite1): let's go back to make fun of Sunghoon please

Morning came faster than expected. Sunghoon was supposed to get you from your place around 1p.m to go to your parents. It left you enough time to help Rei to prepare cute cartboards to bring at Jungwon's next dance show to hype him up.
She came early since she knew you had to leave right after noon, music echoed inside your place as background noise while you and your friends talked about things and others, mainly things you wouldn't talk about in the boys' presence. You love your little quartet, but sometimes you just need your little girl time with your bestfriend.
She told you about her work, her crush and how she could swear they locked eyes when she bought her coffee last time. You giggled, glued, wrote, cut. It was fun.
Until she asked about yesterday. It was the usual "how did your show go?" but this time you didn't answer "perfect we did such a good job!". No, this time you sighed before answering.
Rei side eyed you before focusing back on the cartboard between her hands. "What happened?"
You bit your lips instinctively. It wasnt that big of a deal, it shouldn't affect you that much. But it did. You paused the scissors on your legs mid cutting. Trying to find a way to explain what happened without sounding like a stupid girl that starts causing a scene over nothing. No, you're not really moved, it's just a smack, you barely felt his lips on yours really.
"Ew..." Rei's disgust was written all over her face.
"We agreed that it was the last time we did it don't worry."
"And he did that for nothing? Just like that?" You nodded inocently.
Maybe while telling her the story you left aside the part where you were triggering Sunghoon's nerves and that you found him hot while mad, it was too complicated to explain anyway. Rei knew you weren't telling her everything, she could see it through your avoiding gaze, she has been knowing you for long enough to see through your silence.
"He thought his friends wouldn't believe it if he didn't..." You lied, focusing way too much on the glitters you were putting on your already finished cartboard.
You didn't want to talk about it. Rei can understand. She looks at you, not judging, observing the way you nibble on your lower lip subconsciously. It feels deeper than you says, maybe even deeper than you think.
"Well I hope your shit doesn't shift in a weird direction, I won't hang out with you guys if you start kissing in front of me like nothing!"
You deadpan at her, your eyes rolling on the way. "Come on, you know we have this under control!" you chuckled
But did you really have everything under control?
"I'm just saying..." She took her eyes away from the smile plastered on your face.
After all this isn't her business, she has to let you do your things. She lifted her own cartboard with written "Jungwon you're the coolest" in bright pink, smiling at it. SHe turns it to show it to you. "Isn't it so cute?"
"It is!" Jungwon isn't particulary fond of pink or the cute stuff you put on the cartboards but you know he will be moved after seeing them on stage. You looked at the time on your phone. Still no text from Sunghoon, ever since yesterday he didn't really send anything. Not that he is the chatty type but you can't help but notice that he didn't say anything.
After putting your phone down, the screen facing the floor you lean down on your arms. Your back hurts from working on the ground crouched but at least you're proud of what you made. "I think we're good with this now?" You said while yawning.
Rei nodded while gathering everything that needed to be thrown away. "When is your fake boyfriend picking you up?"
She walked toward the garbage in the kitchen. You looked at the ceiling, you didn't want to pick your phone again and face your blank screen with no notification.
Last time you checked it was 12:30pm, you can do with this information without looking back.
"He should come by in like 30minutes."
You heard the sound of rei clapping her hands, probably to get some of the glitters taht remained off her hands. "Okay I'll leave now, don't want to run into you while you're on couple mode." She said, walking toward the entrance.
You quickly got up, groaning because of the pain in your lower back before joining Rei by the entrance. "We're not on couple mode until we have to." you argued with a frown.
"Yeah whatever." Rei brushed you off.
Honestly you wanted her to be there when he arrived. Last night when he dropped you he was still silent, still frowning, still sexy. You're afraid that he will keep sulking today and that you'll push too much again and that maybe he will again do something crazy like kissing you out of nowhere.
No matter how much you told her to stay longer, Rei left your apartment with her cute cartboard under her arm, reminding you of the date of Jungwon's show.
Now you had to clean the mess left.
It was hard not to think about what would happen during the next days. Sunghoon, your mother... You were stressed, probably more than he was. Did he feel this stressed when it was you meeting his mother?
You're close to your mother, you tell her a lot of things, but this closeness opens the door to her roughness. If she doesn't like Sunghoon it will be obvious, and you don't know if you can hear her talking bad about Sunghoon as much as she did with your ex.
It was hard, everytime you visited her she asked when you would leave him, pin pointed every single flaw of his. She was right about everything, you were too blinded to see it, but at the end of the day that man was trash. Sunghoon isn't. He is in this to help you, if she doesn't like him and asks for you to break up with him every time you meet then why would you even bother keeping this fake relationship?
You shook your head at that thought, even if it doesn't work for you, you have to keep faking for Sunghoon. You'll find something to not hear about your celibacy by yourself, it's better than hearing that your platonic friend that puts an act to help you is a jerk.
Your phone ringtone takes you out of your thoughts as you were cleaning the last carboard cuts, you ran to the spot where you left your phone, on the ground. It was him. You answered without thinking.
"I'm in front of your place!"
He didn't sound mad, not irritated. You didn't know if you were relieved to hear his normal tone or a bit disappointed.
"I'll be downstairs in a minute!"
You quickly ran to your room, your suitcase was waiting for you, wide open. You threw a few more clothes you knew you wouldn't wear, closed the suitcase, checked if you had everything with you and left the apartment without a second thought.
Downstairs you spotted the familiar car immediately. Inside was Sunghoon, very concentrated looking at the sky like it held answers to every singlequestion that crossed his mind. You sighed a laugh when you finally realised that he wasn't looking at the sky but at his own reflection in the rearview mirror. He slightly turned his head, fixing his eyebrows with two fingers like it was second nature to him. When he finally spotted you he got out of the car, walking to open the trunk of his car to help you place your suitcase.
"You think I should trim my eyebrows?" He asked casually while lifting your suitcase with one hand.
You stared at him, quickly imagined his glorious eyebrows thiner and immediately shook your head. "If you do I fear an angel might lost its wings."
He huffed a laugh, closing the trunk. "you're right I'm too handsome for it."
You got inside the car, smiling, both of you relieved to see that nothing was weird. You weren't teasing him, he wasn't mad and overly attractive, you were both capable of being civilized and behave like grown ups.
It's nice to talk normaly together. He smiles, laughs, you don't tease don't pull the trings that push him to act differently. Still none of you adress yesterday. You don't even ask him if his friends believed in your couple. If he didn't tell you anything about it then you can guess that it is a good thing. No news is good news.
But when you turn your head to look at him, see his hands on the wheel, his fangy smile, the creecks on the corner of his eyes after telling the lamest joke you ever heard, you can't help but think about yesterday's error. That peck, so quick, so light yet so heavy on your mind.
You can't help but think about it, wondering when you'll finally bring it up. Your rub your hands together, looking quickly at the etimated ETA, one hour and a quarter left. You look at him by the corner of your eye. He is relaxed, talking about it will obviously crisp him, but you have to make sure nothing slides because mistakes aren't allowed with your mother around.
You take a deep sigh, talking about serious things while Sunghoon's Brazilian funk playlist is echoing inside the car is goofy but you have to have this conversation with him. Preferably before you get to your parents'.
"About yesterday..."
His gaze quickly shifts toward you before focusing back on the road. You see his Adam's apple rolling as he swallows and his smile fading a bit. "I don't really want to talk about it..."
"Yeah well we should because-"
"I know, I won't kiss you out of nowhere anymore don't worry." He cuts you before you could finish your sentence. You're left wordless for an instant. He knew it was probably weighting on your mind.
Sunghoon doesn't regret kissing you. Let's make it clear. He had to step up and show that he was your man yesterday. It may be fake but to his friends it's the only truth. And seeing you being fed by his good at everything friend was out of what he could tolerate in the case where you were his potential real girlfriend.
And for once he ended up being the one with power inside his hands. By the end of the dinner you were the silent one. It was a win on his end.
You turn your body to face him, your head lazily resting on the headrest. Eyes pleading making his blood rush inside his veins. "Promise you'll behave."
He lets out a chuckle, wondering if you're really asking him to behave like he is a child. "Are you for real?"
"You're too impulsive for your own good, I have to make sure you won't do something stupid."
He laughs it ot at first, you're sounding really serious but really joking at the same time, and he can't believe what you're trying to do right now. But as a few second passes and you're still staring at him, eyebrows high waiting for him to say something he starts to realize.
"I swear I won't kiss you!" He says without articulating, his mouth naturally pouting like he had just been punished.
"Give me your pinky." You said, handing him yours.
This time it's a bit too much for his liking. He isn't an animal, he knows how to behave and not cross defined lines, even tho it might not show right now... His gaze quicly shifts between you and the road, a shocked frown drawn on his face. "You're making me pinky promise to not kiss you?"
You chuckle right under his noze, and he feels it, that shift in your behaviour. The one you've been having nowadays. "What am I so irresistible that you fear you might break it and throw yourself at me."
He shouldn't be flustered, he swore he would fight back, but his cheeks feel hotter before he could think of something to retort. So he just ticked his tongue in his mouth, in disebelief. "Don't flatter yourself, and I'm not that type of hungry man."
You look unimpressed, lift an eyebrow like what he just said was irrelevant. "After what you did yesterday I might think otherwize..."
You shook your pinky right under his nose, he can feel your eyes on him and he has to clench his jaw to contain himself from making a fuss right inside the car, he needs to have his attention on the road not on you and how to fight back. Next time he'll be able to fight back. Finally, he lets out a groan and lock his finger with yours sealing the promise.
He hears you humming a song in satisfaction it's a cute habit of yours, he likes it. But right now it feels bitter. He didn't even want to kiss either, it's not like he is in love with you or that his fromer crush on you resurfaced.
__
You see your parents' house in front of you as Sunghoon slowly parks while whistling. The air feels thicker, you're there, finally. It's hard not to imagine all the worst scenarios happening now, there is no reason it would go bad, but there is still a chance...
By the time the engene has stopped you still didn't move. Sunghoon looked at you, your eyes fixed on the porch and the way your leg was shaking, making the whole car move. You're more stressed than he is, and it surprises him because he was on the verge of canceling everything right before he went to get you at your place earlier.
"Hey..."He said, his voice soft. You turned your head toward him, lips pressed in a thin line. He nodded, one slow motion of his head to assure you everything was okay. You could see the stress in his demeanour too, his hands were crisped, still he showed a smile. "Relax it'll go well."
"You need to know that she's..."
"You warned me enough, we'll be perfect as usual."
You remained like that in the car, staring at each other, searching for support in each other's gaze. You were almost ready to start acting, you'll have to act for the next two days. The longest you've ever done, it'll probably be hard but if you succeed you both know you'll be fine for the rest of your lives.
"Thanks for helping me." You said in a whisper.
Sunghoon's state of tension seemed to ease a bit, almost melting away. He got closer, taking you inside his arms in a reassuring hug. You told him plenty of time the way your mother tends to behave, you told him how hard she could be, how she'll be judgjing his every gesture, every word, every breath of his. He wouldn't say he was ready to face it, but he was ready to try his best, for him, but most importantly for you.
you hugged him back, your hands clenching on his sweater to anchor yourself for just a second, his warmth was reassuring. You weren't alone in this ocean, you had him. Even though he was shaking too, even if he was scared too you both knew you could make it.
You got out of the car, Sunghoon got both your suit cases from the trunk and joined you in front of the door. Your childhood house was bigger than he thought. It was already dark outside and you could see lights behind the curtains of the house, it looked warm, would it be though?
You opened the door, stepping in to hold the door for your fake boyfriend as he thanked you.
What immediatly caught his eyes is how so different yet so similar it was to your own place. The colours weren't the same, the furnitures were also different but the way everything was placed, how there was the same types of pictures hanging on the walls by the entrance, it all reminded him of you. He let out a breath, he wasn't stepping into the unknown, he was taking one more step in your life, it was you.
You took your shoes off in a hurry, telling him to do the same and immediately stepped further inside.
"Mom?" You said, your voice high pitched.
Came out of one of the doors an older woman, at the sight of you her face lightened up. "Oh Y/N! Finally!"
She rushed to hug you, Sunghoon stared, smiled, softened, no matter how hard you described your mother to him, right now he just saw a loving mother. You missed each other. You began to talk to each other while he remained by the entrance, shoes off, his socks showing, both your luggages in his hands.
After maybe 30 seconds your mother lifted her gaze, staring right at him. He straightened his back immediatly, his whole body feeling stiffed. Stupid shyness...
"You're the boyfriend?" He said, her tone far from the kind and loving one she used with you.
So this was what you meant when you said that she would be wary of him. He was intimidated by her cold stare and strong voice, she was one kind of a woman, no wonder you're her daughter.
"Yes Ma'am, nice to meet you." He moved foward, bowing down, handing your mother his hand to greet her. She stared at it for a second before shaking it. When he straightened his back, he took out of nowhere a bag you didn't even knew he had, gave it to your mother as a gift. He brought a bunch of fresh fruits, and two great wine bottles. He just wanted to make a great impression.
"Your name?"
He swallowed, his lips stretching nervously. "Sunghoon ma'am."
"The colleague?" Your mother shot you a glance, her voice higher. She knew that name, you've been talking about him for a while. you nodded as an answer, not daring to talk for some reason.
She accepted the bag and invited you both inside the living room. Sunghoon took a step closer to you, his eyes never leaving your figure as he saw your shoulders fall with a sigh.
Like a reflex he offered you his arm, you took it without thinking twice.
Your eyes were full of fear, you clinged closer to him, your grisp on his arm tighter than the day you met his parents. Softly he nuddged you, you snapped your face toward him, he tilted his head at you, smiled, you smiled back, kind of. Your smile was full of stress, whatever was happening inside of you he wished he could calm it. It was about to go well, he was sure of it.
"How long has it been?"
You felt utterly awkward. Nothing was right, you felt bad for Sunghoon, you felt bad for decieving your own mother. You just wished you could run away from your own childhood house.
The first thing your mother said when you told her you had a new boyfriend and wanted her to meet him was "I hope he is better than the last one." She didn't congratulate you, didn't show excitment despise asking you to find yourself someone every time she had the opportunity to for the past year.
Probably she was happy, but most of all she doubted your choice. Understandable when you think of your last relationship, hard when you remember that this is your mother. Beside you Sunghoon doesn't look comfortable, he stands too straight, his smile is way too shy, too fixed.
Even the way he breathes is unusual. Guilt is taking over your whole body. You should've never put him in this situation. Ever.
"We've been together for..."
"No Y/N let him answer." She cut you, her hand lifting as if to physically stop you from helping your friend. You felt his hold of your hand tightening, just a tiny bit, enough for you to catch on whatever he was going through.
This was far from the meeting with his mother, this was torture.
"We've been together for 7months." He stated calmly, just like you rehearsed.
What followed wasn't a simple conversation of your mother getting to know your new boyfriend, it was an interrogation and there was only the bad cop, your mother.
Sunghoon moved smoothly throught it, smiled politely had all the right answers but your mother had to push. She asked something that made your eyes grow wide, you even felt Sunghoon moving because of it, why would she bring up your ex boyfriend in this conversation?
She stared at Sunghoon. Her cold eyes waiting for him to say something. He shifted his gaze toward you, then turned back to your mother. Calmly regaining his composure. "Y/N had poor taste in men. He was useless didn't have a job and couldn't even use his phone properly. Looks like she liked good for nothing men.."
"Excuse you?" You exclaimed, your whole body moving away from him to look at him with a better view. Did he had to go all the way out to just diss you?
Your mother let out a soft chuckle, barely audible, but Sunghoon heard it. He honestly didn't think when he answered. He just said whatever he really thought about your ex, you deserved better, he always said it, why would he lie now?
He turned toward you the corner of his lips lifting higher, his smile reaching his eyes for the first time since you arrived, making your heart skip a beat with the sudden warmness of it.
"Your tastes changed don't worry." he teased you, he felt more at ease.
"So you're the prince charming, the perfect man?" Said your mother, bringing you both back on earth. It wasn't finished yet.
"I wouldn't say that. There isn't such thing as the perfect man. Men can act like wolves..."
"And you're the big bad wolf."
When the interrogation was finally over, your mother took Sunghoon apart, to show him the house she said. You wanted to follow but she gave you that glare that meant "stay where you are", you were only left alone, nibbling your nails on the couch as you wondered what your mother was putting Sunghoon through.
After a while she came back, alone, your eyes searched for him. "He is in your room, unpacking."
You turned toward the spot where your suitcases used to be, it was now empty, you didn't remember seeing him taking them. You got up slowly, ready to head to your room, unpack your own suitcase and have a good conversation with Sunghoon, if this was too much for him you could make up a pretext to leave earlier than planned.
"I see you're not very demonstrative." Said your mother while sitting back on her armchair, stopping you in your motion.
You turned toward her, she looked scary. Even to you...
"Is your boyfriend afraid to show affection?" She added one eyebrow higher.
You opened your mouth, unable to make a sound for a few seconds. You were sat together on that couch during the whole interrogation, your fingers intertwined, clinging onto each other, was that really not enough?
"No he is just a bit shy right now, he is very affectionnate!" You tried to justify yourself, but your mother remained stoned-faced.
She silently nodded, visibly not convinced.
You ran away before she could ask anything else. You had to talk with Sunghoon right now, if he wants to leave you'll leave right now.
When you push your former room's door your eyes immediately meet his figure, kneeled on the floor as he slowly takes out clothes from his suitcase to put them in the empty spaces of your wardrobe. He turns his head toward you briefly when he notices you, a smile appears on his face. Unlike you he doesn't seemed that moved, maybe that's a bad thing.
"We need to act closer." You said, voice low, stepping inside yoour room and carefully closing the door behind you.
He frowns "Closer?"
Sunghoon might think the same thing as you when your mother said you weren't showing affection. You've always done that much, it has always been enough. Why did it change now?
"Yeah give me pet names do whatever you want but we need to look even more in love." You said, sitting beside him as you opened your own suitcase.
"We act like this all the time and it works well, why..."
You have to cut him, his surprise is legit, you expected it because you were surprised yourself.
"I used to complain about my ex not showing affection, she might think you're the same kind..." You sighed, remembering all the times you complained to your mother that your ex didn't take you inside his arms enough, that you wanted him to show that he loved you more...
Of course your mother might remember it as well, she never forgets anything when it's about you.
"What?" Sunghoon's voice raising with indignation. "I'm way better than him!"
You would've found his frustration cute if you weren't in the middle of the biggest crisis of your fake relationship and feared that your mother might trashtalk Sunghoon everyday until you tell her either that you were never in a relationship with him (which would be humiliating), or that you broke up with him(which would also be humiliating).
You let out a painful breath "I know..."
Sunghoon can't believe what he just heard. Him being the same type of guy as your ex? He would rather be called stupid or peed in the head. He is an introvert boy, he doesn't like to show off that much, but if that's what your mother wants then he'll be the clingiest boyfriend on earth, he'll be glued to you, kissing your whole body with his eyes instead of his lips since you forbid him to.
He needed to be a lover boy? then he would love to his fullest potential.
"What are you thinking about?" Your voiced brought him back on earth, in your room, far from the ideas that were blooming inside his head to look more convincing.
"The ways to display affection."
The last thing you both want is to look like you're trying too hard, it has to be natural, just like you've been working, even though it wasn't enough anymore. You both finished to unpack deep in thought. You couldn't practice, take your time to get used to each other on a closer scale. It had to be immediate and seem real, all that without crossing your limits.
Sunghoon helped you finish before you both walked down the stairs, you walking in front of him.
When you finally landed on the ground floor you felt a tug on your sleeve, you turned around, curious to why Sunghoon needed to attract your attention suddenly.
He didn't talk, just let slide his arms around your waist, slowly. Your heartbeats fastened as you felt his head nestling on the crook of your neck. He was hugging you from behind his head nestled on your neck, his warmth radiating onto your own body, the flex of his biceps suddenly really present agaisnt you.
"Is this much okay?" he murmured, his hot breath sending chivers down your spine. You bit your lower lip, closing your eyes. If this was his idea to look more like a couple then this was definitely crossing lines. It was perfect.
"It-"
"Is this how I meet my daughter's boyfriend?" You heard a teasing voice coming from the other side of the hallway.
Your eyes snapped back open, meeting your father's figure. He was still fully in his work clothes, smirking at you with his coat on his back.
Sunghoon's posture straightened immediately, the warmth of his body leaving you frozen in just a second as the both of you were left blushing after getting caught. Your father didn't bother taking off his coat, he walked straight to you with a loving smile.
He took you in his arms like you disappeared for at least 100 years. Kissing the top of your head while swinging your body from left to right. You let him do so, you had to take your mind off the feeling of Sunghoon's breath against the bare skin of your beck, the feeling of his body against you... And nothing better to change your mind than a big father hug.
As you kept hugging your father he lifted his head, eyes meeting Sunghoon's. Your friend was startled by the genuine smile your father offered him. It was so different from your mother.
"Nice to finally meet you son." Your father said, handing his hand to shake Sunghoon's.
At that moment Sunghoon felt like those time when he was a child and had to say hello to adults. He felt shy. He just got so close to you, and now he was meeting your father, and he looked so nice. It was just a lot to take in for him. And he called him son on top of that?
Sunghoon felt accepted, genuinely, not like your mother gave him a house tour and told him that she was glad to know that you forgot about your ex. She was happy that you moved on, maybe not happy that it was with him...
You stepped back from your father's arm, seeing the handshake of the two men, Sunghoon's adorable shy smile growing on his face. You felt your chest fill with pride, your gaze softening as your father tapped your fake boyfriend's shoulder in a friendly way.
"This is Sunghoon, my boyfriend." It's funny how it almost feels right to say it now. When you first faked your relationship you could die of laughter, now it was disturbing but somehow normal.
"I understood when I saw you all lovey dovey from across the hallway, thank you captain obvious." Your father teased you, elbowing you with a smirk.
After letting go your father's hand Sunghoon took a step on the side, getting closer to you. You father's eyes juggled between you and Sunghoon, the wrinkles beside his eyes increasing as his smile widened.
"You two are cute, you know that?" He obviously refered to the position he caught you in. Both of you blushed and drifted your gaze away, not daring to look at each other. "Look at you acting shy now!" you father laughed shaking his head as he took off his coat and began to walk up the stairs behind you while you and Sunghoon remained straight, smiling, awkward.
When he finally disappeared upstairs you exchanged a glance, excited, eyes wide, happy. You silently began to jump as Sunghoon lifted his fist in victory. Your father just found you cute. That was exactly what you needed. Your happy giggles echoes in the house even though you thought they were silent, it triggered your mother's curiosity. She just took a glance in your direction, quickly before seeing you and Sunghoon jumping together like you just won a prize.
His eyes never left you, his smile wasn't fake, he intertwined his fingers with yours without even thinking about it. You were just both happy sharing each other's excitment.
__
It was almost disturbing how different your parents' behaviour differed from one another. Your father seemed to accept your couple right away, he began to overshare embarassing informations about you like Sunghoon's family did when you met them. On the other hand your mother was quiet, she observed, was distant, remained vague in her answers and everything she said. She was still testing Sunghoon. It didn't seem to move him that much, probably your father support made it easier for him. You didn't know. But you like how the two men seemed to get along.
You could get used to it. Your father and Sunghoon exchanging unfunny jokes during dinner, it seemed to make them so happy.
Your father was too tired from his work shift to stay and talk with you and your fake boyfriend all night long. He went to bed after a bit, followed closely by your mother, you knew she wasn't sleepy, she just wanted to debrief with your father about everything she observed. You just hoped that tonight's debrief will end in a positive way for you an Sunghoon.
You were now the only two remaining in the living room, in pyjamas, your belly filled with the delicious meal your mother prepared. Maybe you should debrief too, talk about everything, ask Sunghoon if he was okay, if he wanted to go back home... but you looked at him, on his phone probably answering to his mother's texts like he told you he needed to. Suddenly you didn't feel the need to debrief. He was calm, why would you bring a stressful matter on the table right now?
"Hey let's watch a movie!"
His gaze lifted, black eyes looking at you like you suggested the funniest thing ever.
"Oh yeah!" Sunghoon beamed. "Up for a new horror movie?"
"Hoon, please no..."
You can't watch horror movies, you're always too scared and end up having nightmares. When he learned that Sunghoon forced you to watch some with him. "It's not that bad if you're with someone" he said, and that was bullshit. You always end up traumatised while he watches the movie with a smile on his face. Like a psychopath.
"Come on! You have your filthy pinguin tonight he'll help you with nightmares."
"You know I hate those movies!"
He posed his phone on the table in front of him, changing his posture to a serious one. YOu knew what that meant, he was about to give his best argument."Last time I watched Mamma mia with you, I even sang along with you to every song!"
It's true. After he traumatised you with his hellish movies you forced him to watch some actual good movies with you. "to all the boys I've loved before", "the holiday", "Mamma mia", only classics that every person with taste should know, like and watch regularly.
Turns out Sunghoon isn't a person of taste. But anyway.
The last movie you watched was Mamma mia, Rei and Jungwon pleaded in your favour this night, they were also too afraid to watch Sunghoon's horror movie. That night you had swore that he would get to pick the next movie you'll watch together. And that time had arrived.
You sighed, defeated. "Pick one that isn't too scary please."
Sunghoon immediately got up, lifting his arm in the air in victory while chanting. You knew you would regret it, but a promise is a promise...
He was the first to walk to the living room's sofa, taking the remote to find a good horror movie available. You joined him, dragging your feet, regretting that you suggested to watch a movie with him. If only he wasn't crazy...
"How do you wanna seat?" You asked, taking out a blanket, there is no movie night without a blanket. And if you have a blanket you'll get to hide yourself underit when you're scared.
"Let's lay down together." he said unfazed with his eyes stuck on the tv screen.
You lifted an eyebrow. The idea was good, your mother could come downstairs anytime and if she caught you laying down together that would probably be a good thing. But first of all you're not sure that your mother will come down, and second you're almost sure that Sunghoon will be annoying during the movie. Because he always is like that, he likes to scare you all the time and then snicker behing your ears.
"No you'll bother me and scare me all the time. I know you."
"Bla-bla-bla" he mocked you, tilting his head on the side, looking at you through his eyebrows. "I'll be as good as gold, like always."
You pulled a face, no believing for a second, and you were right, he wanted to make fun of you, make you jump. Where is the fun if he doesn't get to make fun of your scared ass?
"My big arms will keep you safe during the whole movie." he added as he let himself fall on the couch. He wanted to sound more convincing, but instead of agreeing you began to laugh. It stug a bit, why laughing while he was stating facts?
"You're ridiculous..." You waved your hand at him, as you sat down too.
Sunghoon took the blanket away from your hands quickly, your turned your head toard him, not in the mood to fight right now, but he seemed up to play. He smiled at you, looking all inocent like you didn't know he would have the night of his life scaring you every two seconds.
"C'mon love lay in my arms."
You let out a breath. You might be the best friends he'll ever have in his whole life, and you hope he is aware of it. He layed down on his side, making room for you in front of him for your body. You layed down quietly. He threw the blanket over the both of you and rested his hand holding the remote on our hip.
It was the first time you stood like that together. Even when you slept in the same bed back at his parents' house you weren't that close. It felt weird. You were too aware of his body against you, you could hear and feel his steady breathing. But you stayed nonetheless. Because it wasn't that bad. It felt warm, comforting, and maybe his arms would really be helpful during the movie... Like you could bite it every time he tries to scare you in revenge...
Tonight might be your night. There was no good horror movie available. Sunghoon ruminated for a good 10 minutes waiting to find something to watch, frustration growing inside of him each time he thought that maybe he found something just for him to land on the lamest, most decieving movie made on earth.
In the end he choose to watch 13 going on 30 by himself, and you were sooo happy about it. You never thought the parental controle filter your parents forced on you when you were a teen would end up helpful in your life but it did.
Sunghoon hated the movie. He hated how they dresses, how she was acting stupid because "even if at 13 nobody acts so dumb in real life", he thought he just reach his last straw at the twilight scene but you had to make it worse.
"You know the first male lead makes me think of Jay."
"Jay????" Sunghoon blurted out.
When he heard your loud laugh he realized that this was probably the worse night of his life. You decided to turn your rage bait mode on, and he hated how easily you triggered him.
He stared at the screen offended, disgusted, and frowned.
"Because he is mid looking?"
You hit his shoulder as a punishment. "No because he is attentive." you said, almost to proudly. He couldn't see your face right now but he could hear the smile on your lips throught your voice.
You don't even know Jay how could you know that?
He looked down from the screen to stare at you. your back turned to him, so close, your shoulders moving as you giggled...
Then he thought tonight was the night he stopped getting dragged away by you. If you wanted to mess with him then he'll mess with you too. "You know I could fight back." He said with a warning voice before adding "you want to rage bait me so bad but I can fight back."
You chuckled, not even bothering to turn back to look at him. "I'd like to see you try. I'm not as easy to rage bait as you."
You sounded too confident. Like you knew you would win no matter what. He a smirk creeped on Sunghoon's face.
"I could have ways though" He said, taking your chin between two of his fingers, slowly turning your face toward him.
At first you didn't understand, then he looked at your parted lips, and you looked at his, realizing that he was getting closer. You jumped away from him, landing on the ground, the pain from your lower back awakening with the shock. Seeing you hold your back in pain on the floor Sunghoon began to laugh, he did it! he fought back and won!
You glared at him throught the messy strands of your hair. "You promised you little shit!"
His eyebrows lifted, a boyish look appearing on his face."What? I did nothing, what were you thiking about?"
You squinted your eyes. "Go on act all innocent."
"C'mon baby, come back to me!" he invited you opening his arms wide, his fangs showing from how hard he smiled.
"I'm staying on the ground." You said, sitting on your ass, arms crossed against your chest.
Sunghoon sat up, grabbing your arm to pull you closer, surrising you with the strong grip of his hand on your arm. It wasn't hurting, just firm, you knew you couldn't get away from it.
"Staying on the floor won't help with your back pain. Come on I'll massage you until the film ends."
You turned around. Surprised that he caught on your back pain with even telling him about it. You thought about it for a second, then sat back with him. You're never declining a free massage.
He wasn't a pro masseur, but his hands still helped you ease the pain in your back. That or you let the way your heart fluttered decieve your senses and you were brainwashed to think it was better.
How could you really know? The feeling of his strong fingers under your shirt, against your skin was something you couldn't quite describe. It was hot, it was appeasing, it was thrilling, it was driving you crazy. And just like that you closed your eyes to concentrate on nothing but his touch. It was a line crossed, you knew it. But it wasn't that big of a deal... Just a little harmless massage from your friend. Just his fingers running against your bare skin, just his warmth against you.
__
"Wake up lovebirds!"
Your eyes fluttered open with a groan, every muscle in your body protesting as awareness crept back in. Pain lingered in places you didn't remember hurting. What you did notice, immediately, was the light. Too much of it for a morning and that's weird because you never sleep with the shutters open.
Frowning, you pushed yourself upright, blinking as your surroundings came into focus. This wasn't your bedroom. It was the living room. The couch. Confusion settled in just as you felt movement beneath you. Solid, warm.
Your left hand wasn't resting on a mattress, it was pressed against Sunghoon's chest.
The realization struck like electricity, sharp and undeniable, shooting through your entire body and snapping you fully awake. Memories rushed back all at once. Curling up on the couch, Sunghoon's fingers tracing slow, soothing patterns along your back, the faded sound of the movie inside the room.
You had fallen asleep, so had he.
Your gaze lifted and collided with your mother's. You bolted upright, scrambling away from the couch like a startled cat. Sunghoon stirred beside you, blinking sleep from his eyes, clearly piecing things together at the same time. His eyes widened briefly when they met yours before he looked away, rubbing the back of his neck. You hadn't done anything embarassing but thinking that you had just slept curled together on that couch...
Your attention snapped back to your mother, she stood behind the couch, fists planted on her hips, expression stern, except for the faint curl at the corner of her lips, betraying the smile she was desperately trying to suppress.
"We fell asleep..." you muttered, rocking on your heels, eyes glued to the floor. You couldn't bring yourself to look at either of them.
"I could tell..." she said dryly. "We have a reservation tonight. You'll be meeting the rest of the family."
You jolted in surprise, this wasn't supposed to happen right now, not this fast. Your body moved eyes searching for Sunghoon and his messy hair. "I'm already nervous." he breathed a shaky laugh, lips pressed in a line.
"We're heading to the open market first. Do you want to come with us?"
It was probably better if you didn't, you had to get ready, mentally prepare each other. "I don't-"
"Yes let's get ready." Sunghoon cut in smoothly, reaching for your hand, shutting your mouth with his gaze.
Your mother nodded. "We'll wait for you, go get ready."
Like robots you followed her order, went upstairs and got ready in silence.
You wanted to talk to Sunghoon, make sure that you were both ready for the next step but you couldn't do it immediately. You had to get changed so you weren't together, then you were in the car with your parents and you couldn't risk them overhearing your conversation.
It was only at the market that you could find space to talk with him properly. You father had just chased after you with a smelly cheese, knowing well that you didn't like this type of cheese. Of course Sunghoon had joined him. It's only after your mother asked you to get something from stall that you could stop running away from that smelly nightmare. You dragged Sunghoon with you, ignoring his snickers, busy to go get whatever your mother asked.
"Why did you agree on going here?" you hissed, swinging the plastic bag in your left hand.
"She clearly wanted us to go." he replied. "It was obvious."
"Yeah, but I think we might need to talk about-"
"Talk about what?" He tilted his head. "Aren't we doing fine?"
A strand of hair fell as he looked at you with that curious stare that made him look like a puppy. You blinked twice.
"We're doing fine we just have to make things clear."
He stopped, turning you around so you looked at him while a crossed his arms, a suspicious look on his face. "Don't tell me it's because we fell asleep on the couch."
Your eyes immediately drifted away, your hands joining behind your back. Sunghoon snorted with laughter. " Are you flustered right now Y/N?"
You shook your head vividly, overfrowning your eyebrows while making a cross with your arms. "Absolutely not!"
He moved an inch closer. "I think you are..." his boyish grin widdened on his face. You saw the way his tongue pocked his cheek, amused, like he enjoyed it too much.
Was he flirting? He did something like that during the movie, when you felt the weight of his gaze on your lips, feverish, dangerous, intoxicating... Just like that smirk that wouldn't leave his lips right now.
"C'mon use your words lo-"
"Y/N?" Somebody cut him off. Getting on his nerves, taking you out of thoughts you shouldn't hold when it included your friend.
You turned away, recognizing someone you hadn't seen in years.
"Intak?"
Your reunion was cute, you both seemed genuinely happy to see each other, your eyes wided, voice higher pitched in excitment, the way you swayed from a feet to another. Nothing was left unseen by Sunghoon so he wondered. Why were you so happy? Who was him for you?
He cleared his throat loudly, trying to catch your attention back, unaware that your attention wasn't fully on your former friend.
He quietly moved closer to you, sliding his arm against your back to grab your waist and pull you closer to him. Your heart rushed.
"Oh and this is Sunghoon we met in college."
Your friend barely aknowledged Sunghoon's presence, he only nodded in his direction, like he was just an accesory not worth of attention. But that wasn't the worst thing. The most infuriating thing right now was the way you introduced him, quickly, not even as your boyfriend, then moved on to another subject.
And why the fuck were you batting your eyes at him like that?
Sunghoon could see how that guy looked at you, he understood the game between everytime he complimented your appearance like it was nothing. He had seen this kind of behaviour before because he is a guy too, he had been on that side. You jaw clenched, eyes darkened, eyebrows frowned.
"Let's exchange numbers!"
Either that man was stupid and blind, either he was trying to get on Sunghoon's nerves. Either way everything was ending now.
"Y/N lets go your parents are waiting." He had said it calmly, voice stern, already pulling you closer. But he got stopped in his motion when you didn't follow him. Worse, you tried to get away from his hold.
"Go first, I'll follow you right after I gave him my number."
Maybe he was the dumb one. Maybe this was a prank. He thought of searching the cameras. But he just grabbed back your hand, this time he wouldn't let go.
His gaze briefly met your friend's, he rolled his eyes, as if Sunghoon was the one disturbing. He felt his blood boiling inside his veins. If that jerk wanted to compete on "who has the right to stay with Y/N" then he had already lost.
"I don't think your mother like me enough to have a one on one with her son in law." He put the emphasis on the son in law part. Because he knew what that title held in a boy's mind. And he didn't miss when he saw your so called friend's face distorting in realization.
"Son in what?"
A mischevious grin grew on Sunghoon's face as he put one of his arms around your shoulders, holding you so close to him that you could actually merge together. "Yeah we're together, went here to meet properly her family since we're that serious."
Your friend babbled something inaudible, visibly too stunned to fight back. And Sunghoon was satisfied, he looked at his, victorious, then at you. And he saw it. That ghost of a smirk on your face. You didn't care that your forgotten friend was leaving speechless, abashed. Sunghoon was more and more accustomed to this look on your face.
You did it on purpose, because you wanted to see him mad. "That wasn't nice." You said, not an ounce of reproach heard in your voice.
Sunghoon understood that he had just lost the fight. He tried to make you flustered and you ended up rage baiting him. It was so easy.
Sunghoon didn't answer. Stayed silent when he didn't have to act like your perfect boyfriend. He wasn't mad at you, he was disappointed that once again you had powers over him, that once again he gave in on just what you wanted.
You remarked his silence, you didn't talked it out. He was the first to play today, you just ended up with better cards.
__
Evening came quickly. Your parents' reservation was for 8p.m, it was at a nice restaurant so you knew you had to get well dressed. They had sent both of you to your room so you could get ready together. Your father even said that two lovers getting ready together always ended up being stunning. So now you were stuck in your room with Sunghoon who wasn't talking to you.
He moved inside your room like it was his, like you weren't here, it disturbed you. If he wanted to get mad he should be mad at you. Raise his voice, give you that look that burns your cheeks...
"You're shaving?" You tried to get his attention as he entered your bathroom.
He nodded, staring at his own reflexion in the mirror.
You looked at him, he was getting ready, gathering everything he needed to shave while you just stared at him, wondering how it was to shave a beard, or a mustach. Your ex never let you do it for him, he always said that you would hurt him or mess everything up.
Sunghoon was washing his hands when he catched a glimpse of you reflexion in the mirror, you were staring and it made him smile.
"You want to do it?"
You seemed surprised staring at him while he just turned toward you, arching one of his eyebrow, waiting for an answer. You thought he still wouldn't speak to you but apparently he wasn't mad anymore.
"I can?" You asked, just to make sure he really invited you to do it for him even tho there was a risk of you doing it bad, or even hurting him while you had to get ready to go to the restaurant with your whole family and you knew he wanted to make a good first impression.
"Sure come." He invited you, making space in the bathroom so you could make yourself comfortable. You jumped on your feet, bouncing toward him, happy that you'll experience shaving a beard for the first time in your life.
"What do I do?"
Sunghoon sat on edge of the bathtub, the corner of his lips turned upside because of how excited you seemed to shave him. He found it cute.
He explained to you the process, asking you to wash your hands before putting shaving foam on his face where he needed it then grab the razor and he assumed you would be familiar with how to use it.
You did exactly what he told you, putting on the shaving foam underhis nose, where the shadow of a mustache was appearing, you did the same under his lips and on his chin. To say you were committed and concentrated to the task would be an understatement. Your eyebrows were joined, creating a little wrinkle caused by your concentration, Sunghoon reached for it, tapping softly on it to make you loosen up a bit.
You looked up at his smiling eyes, realizing that you've been frowning maybe a bit too hard, so you stretched your face, creating a face Sunghoon had never seen before, making him giggle silently.
"I think I did a good job." You said straightening your back, leaving space for Sunghoon to look at his reflection in the mirror, and he wasn't decieved when he did.
"I look like Santa?!" He blurted out laughing at his own reflexion and the amount of shaving foam you putt on his face, causing a drop of it, landing right on his t-shirt, without thinking you wipped it away, joining his laughs aware that you maybe were a bit heavy hand with the shaving foam.
"Don't laugh like that you're getting it all over you!"
Sunghoon sat back on the bathtub's edge, not hiding his moking smile for a bit. You took the razor by the washstand, getting ready for the hardest part of your task. You weren't sure how to place yourself, or how to start, seeing your hesitation, Sunghoon opened his legs, pulling you closer so you could be perfectly positionned to shave him. You let him guide you, nodding when he told you in a soft reassuring voice "it's not that hard you'll see."
The first movement was full of doubt but you began to figure it out with the second. Your eyes were set on your work and slowly the foam covering them disappeared, finally showing the pink shade of his plumped lips, making you pinch your own lips to suppress the sudden need to kiss him with how pretty he was right now.
His eyes were also set on you, searching for your eyes, even tho he knew you wouldn't look at him right now. But Sunghoon is a greedy man. His hands softly found a place on the back of your tights, soothing slow circle patterns on it, like an embrace, like something that was turning your stomach upside down.
"You're doing good love."
You wanted to tell him not to speak but you didn't, becaused you liked how he just talked to you, his tone soft and charming. So you just pressed a smile, drifting your eyes to his just for the split of a second, it was short, but enough to see how delicious he looked like that under you, staring at you like he desired you. It was also enough for Sunghoon to be satisfied, he succeeded to get your attention with just a sentence.
"Was that really necessary?"
You had to fight the knowing smirk that was about to grow on your lips when you heard it, you knew what he was talking about. "What?" you feigned ignorance when you knew exactly what he wanted to talk about.
"Don't act stupid." His voice is calm, steady, like he knew exactly what to say to scold you. You felt a wave of shiver cross over your body.
"I was just giving him my number." you continued to concentrate on shaving him or more acting like there was still things to do when you were already done. "You're over reacting."
This answer went straight to his heart, you saw it when his eyebrows knitted as he gave you a look that said "are you for real?"
"I'm not. Not when it comes to you. Not when it happens right in front of me."
This time your nonchalant mask broke a bit, the corner of your mouth rose just a bit, but enough to show him that you liked that, liked the idea of him being jealous and showing it. His thumbs on the back of your tighs stopped brushing. "You're supposed to be my girlfriend Y/N, don't let anyone think you're free. You're not."
You wipped his mouth, only nodding as an answer when your whole brain was flodded by giggles and pictures of his angry face, him scolding you for acting too open while he was under you in such an intimate position. You tilted your head, admiring your amazing work while he was admiring you, when suddenly you leaned in to give a peck on his lips, it was quick, chaste even, but it made you smile, and it surprised Sunghoon who just lifted his eyebrows.
"Your very taken fake girlfriend is done." You declared, tone happy, satisfied, your lips still holding the memory of his on them as you walked away from your friend, leaving the faint scent of your fragrance behind you and Sunghoon completly mind blown.
Sunghoon bit his lower lip, remembering how you made him swear that he wouldn't kiss you only to be the one to kiss him.
He was enjoying this too much. Against his own will. He looked at his reflexion in the mirror, checking to see if you really did a good job and he was pleased to see that he was indeed ready and perfectly shaved thanks to you. He walked out of the bathroom, leaning in the doorway, arms crossed while he stared at you as you were choosing your dress for tonight.
The game that began between you two was really entertaining to say the least. He liked it yeah, but he didn't like the way you played dirty, or did he? He really hate it when he sees you acting so friendly with a man when you're supposed to act like his girlfriend, but he loves how you use his own jealousy to fuel the tension between you two. And that peck you gave him? If he was the same Sunghoon he was a few years ago he probably would have yelled of euphoria right after.
"I thought you didn't want to kiss?" He said, a hint of amusement easily heard in his voice.
"Yeah but you looked very kissable." you retorted like it was logical, not even turning toward him. But Sunghoon is a greedy man.
"So we can kiss each other whenever we want?"
He can see your eyes quietly flick toward him, the pause, the hesitation of your body after his question. And with just that he feel the heat growing inside of him.
"Can't hurt." You answered, your voice so low that he almost didn't hear it. But he did. He heard it loud and clear, printed the sight of your flushed cheeks and thrilled smile.
Oh he would so abuse the new right you granted him.
