Convenience is not a Moral Failure

Read that again, Momma.

I’ve seen the posts.

The ones that say, “omg you do that?”

Followed by, “here are the 10 extra unnecessary steps I take so you know I’m a REAL mom.”

Or my favorite:

“Oh, you bought that gadget? Ew. That takes so much work and pressure off the task.”

Yes.

That is literally the point.

I’ve been buying all the things I swore I wouldn’t.

The Diaper Genie (Dad demanded it — turns out diapers do haunt outside trash cans. Sold.)

The Baby Brezza (aka the Kid Keurig), because waiting for formula to warm while your baby loses his ever-loving mind is a special kind of torture.

The Baby Einstein toys. The jumperoo. Because sometimes he’s under-stimulated… and sometimes I am overwhelmed.

And you know what all that “convenience” actually gave me?

More conscious time with my baby.

The ability to step back when Dad’s at work without my son suffering for it.

The space to get things done without constant distress.

Peace.

And peace means patience.

Patience means presence.

Presence is the whole damn point.

So fuck the commentary.

Do the thing.

Buy the gadget.

Choose the shortcut.

Helping yourself is helping your baby, Momma.
