Makarov's tattoos and what it can mean
Attention! This post is just a guess as to what significance Vladimir Makarov's tattoos from the new Call of Duty MWIII trailer might have. There are many different opinions about what different tattoos mean, so my opinion is not the main one!
In Russia there is a so-called tattoo culture among those who are or have been in prison (this seems to be the case in other countries as well). Many tattoos make sense if you've been in jail.
Now I will try to make out what the tattoos on Makarov's body mean.
The tattoo that caught my particular attention is the wolf tattoo on the back. This is the meaning of the leader, the head of the pack. This is obvious because throughout the video, we see how other prisoners fear Makarov as he is led through the corridors of the prison. He clearly has authority.
There is also a cathedral tattoo below the wolf. There are so many different meanings of these tattoos in prisons: someone says that each dome is a 1 year in prison. But there is information that the number of domes is the number of times a person has been in prison. It can be assumed that Makarov was in prison 4 times, or was in prison for 4 years. Here the information is different.
Skulls near the church - can also mean different things. Either this is the number of victims of Makarov, or it is his belonging to any power that he has.
Star tattoos on the back on either side of the wolf. This is the so-called "wind rose". Usually this tattoo is for the shoulders, it means belonging to a high caste of prisoners. But even here the information is different! Such tattoos can also be filled by those who are against the regime in which they are in prison.
"Волков бояться - в лес не ходить" - tattoo on Makarov's stomach. This is russian proverb translate like "If you afraid of wolves - dont go to the woods". This proverb literally has the following meaning: "to achieve any success, you must take risks, act boldly."
Eagle tormenting a woman. There is a direct meaning of such a tattoo - this means that the criminal is an ordinary bully, rowdy. Committing a crime is a fun pastime for him.
Also, the tattoo, presented in the form of a double-headed eagle, indicates that a person corresponds to the life principles characteristic of a "thief in law": he never informs on anyone, does not steal from his loved ones, including cellmates, and does not cooperate with state. For him, this is the main position in life, which he will never change under any circumstances.
Tattoos on the shoulders in the form of shoulder straps have several meanings generally accepted in the underworld. Such a tattoo may indicate the wearer's refusal to take the path of correction. It is made by robbers and murderers who have committed serious crimes and consider themselves an elite in the criminal environment.
"Knife on the neck" (In this case, just below the neck) demonstrates the bestial, predatory essence of the owner of the tattoo. Such a person will use a weapon without blinking an eye. It is noteworthy that in order to apply a tattoo with a knife, you do not need to be in any particular hierarchy. Such tattoos can be applied by all criminals with experience in handling edged weapons.
In the russian criminal world, a tattoo with a skull means that a person belongs to the thieves' environment and the desire for power.
For prisoners, a death tattoo with a scythe means: “Capable of killing”, that is, it was done mainly by people who consider themselves dangerous to society, or such a tattoo can become a warning: “I will get to you!”, A reminder that death always walks near.
I'm not sure I got it right, but I think it's a bat tattoo under the chest on either side of the scale tattoo. This creature is associated with the night even in ordinary life. It embodies invisibility, courage and invulnerability.
I did not find any meaning of the scales tattoo in the prison world, but in general, scales mean balance, harmony and purposefulness (but I'm not sure about this, after all, this is Makarov …) It is worth considering that claws and the same eight-pointed star flaunt on the scales.
From everything we can conclude that Makarov is a big man in the criminal world. He has connections and power, and wants to reach even greater heights (all this is clear just from the video, because we see how all the prisoners are afraid of him). But how he will be connected with other characters and what will happen - we will find out either in the trailer on August 17, or when the game itself comes out …
Well, it was a small analysis of Vladimir Makarov's tattoos. These are all the tattoos that I could see in the trailer. If more of his tattoos appear in good quality - perhaps I will write down their meanings!

POSSIBLE, none of the tattoos carry the meaning that I wrote about. Perhaps Makarov has his own meaning for each tattoo. But we don't know that yet.
