         This was just fucking pathetic.

          In his grocery cart Dean had thrown a single packet of Mr. Noodles, some Kraft Dinner, ketchup, and a loaf of bread. He was now wandering rather aimlessly down an aisle, looking for anything that he figured might be the sort of thing normal people had in their fridges. You see, for years now he had lived on the road, out of shitty motel mini-fridges and cheap diners and gas stations. His go-to meal was a bottle of something sugary and a burger, or something packaged in plastic and soaked in preservatives.

          But now he had found a place to stay - at least for a while - and he’d decided to make it feel like home. Trouble was, he never really knew what ‘home’ was supposed to feel like in the first place. He was good at being a criminal - great, even. Normal stuff, on the other hand? He was clueless.

          As he sauntered down an aisle filled with condiments and packaged soup mix with a can of some sort of sauce in hand, Dean squinted down at the label to determine what the hell it was, exactly. By the time he lifted his eyes, he had already ran his grocery cart into someone.

          “Shit,” he muttered, tossing the can down into the cart and stepping over to the stranger. “Are you okay?”

          Bloody fucking lovely. The market-- just the place I want to be right now. 

     The young woman had this precarious habit of moving from place to place-- rarely ever settling in. She was always on the run for some reason. Only she knew the reason. Adelaide had stayed a little too long in this town but it would work for now. A new job, a small hidey hole of a home-- she was actually feeling normal for once. Another habit of hers was eating everything in her pantry and icebox until it was bare. Then again, she never really filled it up, just in case she had to run.

Sighing deeply, Adelaide's hazel eyes roamed over each brand and flavor of ramen noodles. Cheap, easy, and not too bad. Let's see-- shrimp, picante chicken, chicken noodle, beef, cheese, oriental-- .... Her thoughts were immediately interrupted by a grocery cart being rammed into her side. A look of pain crossed over her face, followed by immediate annoyance. The young woman's mouth opened slightly in awe of his looks-- bloody hell. Adelaide cleared her throat.        

      "Yeah-- yeah 'm fine. You should probably watch out where ya goin' next time, yeah?"

Verity leaned over the edge of the bed, peering into the hallway things seemed clear for now. The nurses must be between shifts.

                “I’m in the hospital? —I think it’s the one near that, uh” But words were failing her.

        "Verity-- how could you've just so happened to forget the past several hours?" Adelaide furrowed her brow, tilting her head as she listened again. 

            "The bleedin' hospital, Verity?! What on earth are you doin' there? You need to find out the name 'cos there's two hospitals nearby." She cupped her hand to her forehead in disbelief, her hazel eyes widening.
