For as long as you could remember Ghost had always been there no matter the situation he was there. You were getting mugged after a night at the pub? Held hostage by enemies being tortured for information you didnt have? no worries Ghost was there to make sure no one would make it out alive except for you. unbeknownst to you Ghost had gotten more attached than he should have what was suppose to be just protection turned into something more, something he craved more than eating your soul he wanted you in your entirety only wanted your eyes on him only wanted your heart to beat for him.

this mission was suppose to be simple infilitrate, gather information, and get out so you decided to not call upon Ghost for this one what a stupid mistake that was seeing as the plan immediately crumbled when you entered a seemingly empty building not realizing that you had set off the incendiaries until the flames started eating the building one floor at a time "get out of there, were coming" Price shouted through the comms as you ran as fast as you could down the stairs avoiding falling debris the best you could

once you got to the bottom floor you covered your mouth to avoid inhaling to much smoke shielding your eyes from the unbearable heat that the fire emitted "fuck" you rasp as you duck and weave fallen beams and exposed wires only to be stopped by a large part of the ceiling slamming down in front of you blocking your only way out "fuck fuck fuck" you panic spinning around to see if there was anywhere you could run only to be enclosed on all sides "Ghost please" you whisper panic settling in your chest "fuck plea" you began only to be pinned under a falling piece of the ceiling crying out in pain

When Simon got the news of the mission he already knew he wouldn’t be coming home, being that deep into enemy territory there was no way that he could reasonably think of, it seems Soap and Gaz had come to that realization as well there faces grim and eyes full of sadness probably thinking about how they would say goodbye to the ones they love.

“Love I’m home” Simon called out into the quaint little apartment you two had called home for the past 5 years taking in all the framed photos, the water ring stains on the table from countless mornings of sharing tea together, the divots in the couch from your respective spots, oh god how he’ll miss it, oh god how he’ll miss you. All that got shoved to the back of his mind as you came out rubbing the sleep from your eyes wearing his shirt “mmmm hi darling welcome home I ordered takeout from that Thai place I’ll go warm it up hm?” You rasped turning away only for Simon to quickly catch your elbow pulling you into his chest “Si? The mans body was found 5 blocks from your hideout, the police couldn’t believe the amount of damage that was inflicted. He was missing his eyes, his fingernails, his teeth seemed to have been pulled out one by one and shoved down his throat, and his tongue cut out and found right next to him with the word bitch carved into it.

“Si” you sigh stretching as you look over at the man who was washing the blood off his hands “yes my love” he replies turning his full attention towards you “I’m thinking Chinese tonight? Your surprised that you and simon even got out with just a bite, you were sure that you were gonna be torn apart and eaten just like you watched your friends be.

"Cmon si just a little longer" you wheeze tired from dragging his deadweight body "were almost there im sure theyll have a cure" you repeated that yourself everytime you felt like giving up and just putting simon down, all you got in reply was a guttral groan from the undead man you had kept on a chain for his safety and yours

You huffed and sat down against a tree staring across the way at Simon who stared at you jaw hanging loosely from where he broke it to prevent himself from biting anyone, milky eyes unblinking "do you even remember me simon" you sigh staring into his cloudy eyes "do you remember the note you left? before you slipped away that night" you dug around you pack Simons eyes following your every movement as you quickly retrieve the note holding it with shaking hands

That’s where he met the first spirit who would board his ship, standing before him was a very large cloaked figure at the end of the pier staring out into the vast nothingness “hello?” He called out causing the spirit to quickly snap towards him “who are you, how’d you get here, how’d you find me” the spirit shot off rapid questions already on guard “I’m Johnny but you can call me Soap I’m the newest spiritfarer” he reassured putting his hands up to show he’s harmless “my boat took me here I’m guessing to bring you aboard” the cloaked figure held an aura of distrust as it reluctantly followed Johnny to his ship.

Once the cloaked figure set foot on his ship it’s cloak immediately vanished leaving a very broad and tall man with a skull mask staring back at him “I’m Ghost” the spirit grunted as he looked at his new surroundings before digging around his pocket to give Johnny his obal

Days and weeks passed as Johnny upgraded his ship, helped other spirits cross over while Ghost remained never growing close to any of the other spirits, always sticking to himself only really talking to Johnny or playing with Riley. “Phew another spirit in the Everdoor I’m on a roll aren’t I” he grinned at Ghost who was sat in his own house that Johnny had built for him “you remind me of my old team” Ghost mumbles as he looks lost in thought “always ontop of things, always together” that’s all Ghost said for the rest of the day deciding that he just wanted to be alone worrying Johnny just a bit.

He couldn’t stay worried for long as he docked at a new island filled with cherry blossom trees and strawberry bushes which he quickly harvested as he made his way up towards the lone cabin at the very top of the hill. “Hello?” He called out to the cloaked figure sitting at the lone bench over looking the sea “hello?” He called out again as he made his way towards them “hello Spiritfarer” you say still not turning towards him “I’m guessing you’ve come to take me away from my home” you inquire turning slightly to look at the large man “only if your comfortable with that” he reassures “well I mean it’s time isn’t it I can’t cling to the past forever” with that he watches as you rise up take one last look at your home and follow him to the ship once onboard your cloak melts away revealing your form standing before the only other spirit on the ship and Johnny “it’s been so long since I’ve been around others” you snicker

The three of you were thick as thieves growing closer and closer as the days turned to weeks then months everything was well sure you’d had a few times where Johnny was worried because you were struggling against an unseen foe, or when ghost would have what he could only guess were ptsd flashbacks that caused him to be catatonic for days, the good times outweighed the bad in his eyes as long as you both remained happy then he would keep trying to make you both better.

“Johnny” Ghost said one day after Johnny had fed him his favorite food of beans and toast “I think it’s time Johnny” Soap felt his heart drop into his stomach he knew this day was coming but he would never be ready for it “I’m ready to go Johnny” ghost said as he placed a calloused hand on Johnnys warm cheek “you know what to do” Johnny nodded a sadness burying itself in his heart as he set his navigation to take him to the Everdoor

“I’m gonna miss you Simon” Johnny watched as you said your goodbyes to your beloved Ghost hugging him tightly and pressing a soft kiss to his cheeks then his lips only letting go of his hands as Ghost boarded the small boat that would take him to his final resting place “ready” Johnny questioned his voice thick with emotion “ready” Ghost reassured as he gently placed a hand on Johnnys knee giving him a smile behind his skull mask.

“I’m grateful for everything in my life” Ghostst began as Johnny continued to row “grateful for my team, for the tragedies, for meeting you and them” Ghost smiled as he took off his mask wanted to feel the breeze on his face one last time “I’ve done bad things, and at one point I was sure I was a villain but when you look at me it makes me want to be a better person” Johnny sniffs but keeps a strong composure “I've never deserved you anyway... But I've loved you, and that won't stop even if I'm not around anymore. The ones who really love you never really leave you, you know” Ghost reassured as they stop in front of the large door Johnny quickly rushing to pull ghost into a tight hug inhaling his strong scent “I love you Simon” Johnny murmured as Ghost rose above him disappearing in a burst of light

It was lonely without Ghost on the ship but things had to keep moving, Johnny continued helping spirits cross over while you remained unmoving wanting to stay by Johnnys side for as long as you can teaching him lessons on how to open up to people, to love, to grieve properly. “Even when I leave you Johnny I’ll wait for you on the other side so you don’t have to cross alone” you smiled as he pressed a soft kiss to his lips before disappearing into your house.

The day johnny had been dreading had come you were ready to leave you had told him so as you were helping him into his orchards “I think I’m ready Johnny” you say as you put the fallen apples into a basket “I’m done fighting the inevitable I’ve had a wonderful experience seeing the world with you but it’s time for me to go” you gently cup Johnnys cheek and all he can do is focus on remembering your touch “you know what to do”.

Johnny couldn’t fight the few tears rolling down his cheeks as he helped you into the small boat watching as you sat across from him brilliant smile never leaving your face “you know I used it be such a logical thinker, everything had its place, everything was black and white, then when I got sick I started changing started learning a new way of living and I always wanted to pass that down to someone and I’m grateful it was you” you coo as you reach out to caress Johnnys cheek “The only lesson I have left is to show you what we're made of. Of ephemeral starlight. We're but a few particles of thought on the vast stream of consciousness” you sigh happily as you lean forward pulling Johnny into a soft kiss wrapping him up in your arms “I love you Johnny and I’ll be waiting” with that he watched as you burst into a ball of light taking your place amongst the stars next to his beloved Ghost.

Years passed Johnny lost track of how many souls he’d helped pass on but now his time was up it was his turn to crossover and he knew that you and Ghost would be waiting for him with open arms and happy smiles.

i was listening to this song and thinking of soap so

"what do you mean your goin Johnny i thought you requested leave" you stared at the scottish man across from you setting down your coffee cup "i did but they need my help and i cant abandon my team you know that" he tried to reason with you reaching out to caress your cheek only to get his hand pushed away "yeah cour i know johnny but you have no problem abandoning me do you" you huff and shove past him fighting back the tears. Johnny was quick to follow you into yalls shared bedroom sighing as he watched you pull out his suitcases "its only for a little bit and ill be back before you know it please just trust me" johnny gently took your hands away from the angry packing you were doing turning you to look at him gently cupping your cheeks "im guessing i cant beg you to stay can i" you said with a watery laugh "Ill always come back home to you" he reassured pulling you into a soft kiss "just please come home johnny" you sniffle as you hug him tight inhaling his scent like it was the last time youd smell him.

You ran to the door excitedly when you heard the knocks ring through the house swinging it open excitment on your face only for it all to crumble around you as Price, Gaz, and Ghost stood before you in their military best holding the scottish flag and Johnnys dog tags "no, no, no no no no no no" you kept repeating stumbling back into your house quickly being escorted to sit down by Ghost who held a somber look on his otherwise emotionless face

"im so sorry lass" Price muttered kneeling before you gently setting the flag in your lap all you could do was run your fingers over the dog tags ringing in your ears as you began sobbing "just breathe, breathe its okay weve got you" Gaz reassures "this is some fucked up joke right" you tried to reason as you choked down the sobs threatening to rip out of your throat "im so so so sorry lass" Price repeated as he took your hands gently "wha- what happened" is all you could think to ask as you clutched his dog tags "Makarov he had us pinned and got a cheap shot on johnny, he was dead before he hit the ground" Ghost said as he sat beside you. All you could do was fold into yourself clutching the flag and the dog tags close knowing youll never get to tell johnny you loved him or look at the stars again knowing johnny wouldnt be on the other side watching them with you.

Citrus Friend

i was listening to lemon boy and thinking of Ghost, i dont pride myself on good writing i just like writing what comes to mind no matter how outlandish it is

Ghost was pretty bittersweet to most people including you at first his attitude was almost to sour but somehow you grew to love it over time. I mean he was like a weed always there somehow even when you didnt expect it so instead of telling him to go away you, you decide to keep him close become his friend he became easy to love.

Over time his bittersweetness started to rub off on you, you started making dark humour jokes being sassy in the most monotone voice it cost you a few friends who were used to your sweet self and couldnt get behind the new you, but Ghost always stayed by your side your beloved citrus friend.

When he got sent on a mission that you couldnt accompany him on all that filled your gut was dread, worried that he wouldnt come home, or that hed get so badly hurt theyd have to bring him home in a body bag, but you kept your hopes up watching the clock and the comms everyday for sign that the 141 was returning. Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months and you began to lose hope that your lemon boy would come back.

The day came when you were sitting in the canteen poking at the unappetizing food you had to choke down just to distract yourself from the bitter feelings settling in your chest, you had given up on Ghost coming home but a little part of you always held onto the fact that maybe he would someday, well that someday was today it seemed as the 141 walked into the canteen bone tired and exhausted looking but all you could do was stand quickly running to Ghost tears in your eyes as you threw yourself at him not caring about the dirt and grim that caked his body and gear you were just happy that he was finally home

"im so happy you came home" you cry softly in a moment of weakness clinging to him inhaling his lemon zest scent that seemed to still be there even though he was gross looking. Sure he was bitter but so were you you two would be the bitterest boys in the world but atleast you had each other.

Ghost was dying that much he knew, who would’ve thought a stray bullet would’ve been the one to take the all powerful Ghost out, but here he is laying on the cold concrete more blood on the floor than in his body and his radio crushed to bits from the way he landed

He started thinking back to everything wrong in his life, losing his loved ones over and over and over till he couldn’t bare to be attached to anyone that is until he met you and Johnny the light in his otherwise dark world, the way you both shone like the sun made him crave that warmth in this moment, but then inevitably he lost the both of you two. First you when an enemy got a quick shot while you were tending to the wounded Ghost wasn’t quick enough then to save you, then Johnny when graves betrayed them and shot Johnny dead on the spot he wasn’t quick enough to save him either.

“Simon” Your voice murmured as he grunted thinking he heard your voice again but that wasn’t possible you’d been dead for years a ghost of his past “oi L.T” he thought he heard Johnny this time, he groans again cursing whatever was happening right now maybe it was the blood loss or the fact he hit his head but just his luck he’d be hallucinating his lovers voices “seems you’ve got yourself in a bit of a bind Simon” your voice coos softly as he feels the soft touch of a cold hand on his masked face “must’ve given the other guy hell didn’t ya si” soaps voice chuckled as he felt a cold hand over his chest where his blood was seeping through his vest

“This isn’t real this isn’t real your dead, your gone, YOUR FUCKING GONE” he grunted grinding his teeth as he fought to stay awake his eyes barely picking up two blurry figures kneeling over him “oh Simon we know that but did you think you were just gonna die alone” you murmur caressing your thumb under his eye “we would’ve ripped apart the world just to be by your side L.T” soap said sadness laced in his voice.

“Is it terrifying” Ghost rasps as he feels the blood filling his throat “No. I don't think so. It's the way it is, you know?” You whisper softly wanting to comfort Ghost before he joined the two of you again “Everything must come to an end, the drip finally stops.” Soap says reached up to help Simon pull off his mask. They knew he was dying but all they could do was wait for the inevitable, you and soap share a somber look having watched over Simon for so long “See you on the other side.” Ghost murmurs weakly as the sides of his vision start becoming blurry and dark “and we’ll be right there waiting for you Simon Riley” both you and soap lean in to place a gentle kiss to each side of Ghosts face only being able to watch as his breathing slowed and his heart finally stopped.
