we all know that up until lucio was 18, he was living with his warrior tribe family, where reading and writing is obviously not a priority to them.

"but how would he settle issues as a count?" well, my sweet summer's child, that is where nadia comes in.

unlike lucio, she was bred and raised as civil nobility with full intents on becoming a ruler of somewhere. she was raised to read and write as nobility is typically raised to do.

knowing lucio, he would either refuse to learn because he's gone so long and lived comfortably without knowing how to read or write, or he did try and felt like a fool.

in conclusion, lucio is 40 fucking years old and cannot read.

There’s a lot of shit everywhere already which looked like a bad shit even before lucio’s route. like “he craves validation, that’s why i won’t give it” or (lucio saying he suffered of being a ghost) “what are you saying? nothing of importance, i’m sure”, or “oh, you’re dying? lmao, you got so weak”. i mean, pity party was awful shit and i said it since it was released, and this?? also was beyond any moral limits.

Oh yeah I absolutely agree, I only mean that most of the fandom at the time didn’t really give a shit about it because lucio was strictly the antagonist, so people didn’t really examine the implications of statements like those. What’s probably most disconcerting is that while some folks will probably come to the conclusion that the arcana is often… very mean spirited, there will be others who find it totally justifiable at best and the “right” thing to do at worst.
