Hello, blog-goers! As of right now, I’ve been messaged by two separate people who’ve discussed with me the nature of group roleplays; I’m an old dog with no new tricks, so a lot of my experience and knowledge of the RPC comes directly from an age where there was only group roleplays -- I enjoy the structure and I love the idea of having a cast of writers come together and write a standard A-B-C plot. It’s fun to have a universe where characters can develop naturally and fluidly and I think group roleplays provide an interesting dynamic for a writer, and I like to think of it as something like writing a collaborative novel with friends.

However, that’s not how a lot of people see it -- group roleplays, especially ones with an extensive application process, have apparently become viewed as a huge staple of elitism in fandom roleplay, and I don’t feel comfortable making anyone uncomfortable by having a group roleplay that excludes people. However, since that’s the nature of group roleplays, there’s no getting around that -- hence, where we have the dilemma.

Everyone who’s applied to this roleplay has been genuinely amazing, and I get the problem, now -- I don’t want to deny anyone, and no one wants to be denied. I also don’t want the existence of this blog to make anyone feel anxious or unworthy, and if that’s already happened, I don’t want that to happen again.

I’m going to leave this page up, but I can’t, with good conscious, continue to advertising something that the fandom feels is an outdated form of roleplaying. Not all fandoms feel that way, of course, but when I started making this roleplay 5-6 months ago, I was shocked that this hadn’t been made before. That, for some reason, no one had slapped together some graphics and made a group.

Now, knowing why, I feel very silly not realizing there was a reason for that. I want to apologize again for any discomfort or self-doubt something like this may have brought, and thank the two people who talked (or, for lack of better explanation, toasted my tailbone) to me about their feelings, and answered a lot of my questions about group roleplays, too! 

My personal feelings about group roleplays will never entirely change (you may find me lurking around fandoms that have an explicit group roleplay scene) but if group roleplays aren’t a thing for this fandom, I don’t want to be the person who tries to push it.

Thank you for all of the kind words anyone has given this silly passion project, and thank you, dearly, for being kind to me even if the nature of a roleplay of this type made you uncomfortable -- again, the page will stay up, but I will no longer be online, nor will we be welcoming any applications.

How or rather, where will be the rp taking place..? On Tumblr, Skype, Discord..? >I'm sorry if this is a dumb question

That isn’t a dumb question at all – I’m sorry for not clarifying! I’m not familiar with Skype or Discord roleplays, so it completely slipped my mind. This roleplay will take place on Tumblr! As in, every character will have their own blog and we’ll roleplay through reblogs of each other’s posts! However, depending on what people prefer, our OOC chat may be on Discord? I’ve always had them through a secondary blog, but I’m perpetually stuck in 2013, so it may be time to bite the bullet and move over to Discord for some things.

Maybe.

previous multi-app anon here ! i'm just indecisive about who to play, and i don't have a particular bias towards the characters that i'd like to pick up! that's why i decided to ask. but for clarification, we have to explicitly choose which muse is our primary consideration within our app if we choose to apply for multiple characters ?

That’s so relatable. I chose Ignis because I’m the strongest with his characterization and I think having an admin play a ‘main’ role can help the story progress without the fear of a main character being too sparsely on the dash. But I also spent way too long debating who I wanted to stake a claim on. It was almost Cor. Dear diggity, it was almost Cor.

And, no! -- But also yes? If you have a primary consideration, then please say so on your applications, but if you like both character equally (and wouldn’t mind playing either or both of them) you can leave it up to me, and (assuming more than one person applies for the roles) I’ll pick which character I think you’re best playing. If no one else applies for those characters, you’ll get both roles, and this will be a lot less confusing.

hello ! since this is an application-based roleplay group, would we be allowed to submit in multiple applications for different characters ? or should we only send in one, see if we are accepted, & then apply for another if we are rejected ?

Hi! You’re more than welcome to apply for more than one character at a time. However, acceptances are a bit situational; for example, if you have a primary character you’d like to play and someone else applied for your secondary character, I won’t be able to give you both roles you applied for. You’ll be considered for your primary role first. However, if the situation is flipped and you’re rejected (that word is so harsh -- unfit? That’s not right, either. You know what I mean) for your first role, you’ll be considered for your second role.

But that being said, it depends on why you’re applying for two characters -- would you want to play both of them, or is one application only in case you don’t get your first choice? Both are options I’m perfectly fine with, of course, but that’s something you’d have to explicitly state on both applications so we’re both on the same page.

Does that make sense? If not, feel free to send another message. I’m trying really hard not to be nosy and ask who you’re thinking of applying for. I can only hold off so long.

We do! It spits out graphics every few hours in a variety of tags (so we don’t spam the slower tags) and it’s just a redirect to this blog! Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.

this is a dumb question and idek why i want to know but how many hours have you clocked in ffxv

I think I’m somewhere around 160 hours now? I think? And gathering photos for this roleplay only took a few hours, so I literally have no excuse. I don’t even do the timed quests and there’s a lot of dungeon crawling I haven’t done yet. Oh no.

I’m Nikki, and I’m the one who created this whole roleplay! I’ve been roleplaying for about ... fifteen years? Which is a very long time, and I can’t believe I still can’t shake this silly hobby. I’ve admined lots and lots of Tumblr roleplays over my years and my longest one lasted about 3 years. I have a lot of fun creating an interactive and moving plot, as well as being on dash and getting to explore my character. The first FF game I owned was FFVII, but the first game I played on my own was FFX, and I worked backwards from there.

Kyle is my little helper! They’re always around to proof-read my rambles and help me with whatever I need. They’re mostly behind the scenes, as of right now, but I’m sure that I’ll push them into the ask box and onto the blog in the near future! Right now they’re playing Zodiac Age, so I’m not sure if that’ll be soon, as I can vaguely hear them complaining about the job system over Skype right now.

Are there any characters you're most excited to see?

To be applied for? Not really. I love all the characters in FFXV for different reasons and being able to see them come to life within other people’s characterization is the whole point of wanting to make a group roleplay. Getting to learn and truly appreciate how a specific set of people interact and develop alongside one another -- not only is it fun but it’s beneficial as a writer, and I’m most excited to meet the people I get to roleplay with.

So, I guess the answer is -- everyone? I’m not sure if that helps. I do really love Cor.

is it okay to reblog any of your posts?

Yes, of course! Given that the XV roleplay community is considerably smaller than a lot of other roleplay circles, things like reblogging the main graphic (or even asks?) can spread the word a bit more fluidly, especially if you run an indie blog or a FFXV-centric blog! 

However, don’t feel pressured to do so; if you’d like to, feel free, but there’s no obligation for you to ~spread the word, or anything like that! I’m doing fine just fishin’ in the rp tags.

!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!! I genuinely can’t believe that it’s actually done? 

I’ve been working on this silly passion project for a solid 3-5 months and compiling all the resources was a lot of work, but also lots of fun! I had the hardest time with the world map (my in-game camera is filled from going through and categorizing Insomnia, not to mention that I owe my life to my translator, who doesn’t know anything about FFXV, but still sat through me explaining all the puns in Japanese) but I also think the pay off was the greatest, so I can’t complain that much. I hope you get a good use out of all the resources, and that anyone applying to the roleplay has an easy time with the ‘verse!
