Don't mind her, she just feels like being small today.
Much easier to be to go unseen this way.. Also easier to steal food that doesn't taste like dog food!

___________
When Freya had mentioned she'd like to pursue a doctorate in the Psychology field on Career Day, this was not what she had in mind.
The click of her heels against the metal and concrete floors echoed down the vast hallway, gradually illuminating the cells lining the walls as she approached. At this point; the redhead barely paid any attention to the inmates grinning and heckling as she passed - she had to, lest she keep even a meager grip on her sanity.
"Let's see.. B4, B5, B6.." Freya glanced back and forth from her chart and the designations of the various cells painted well above her on the high walls before coming to a sudden halt. She'd felt something.. something slimy.. "Ugh!" In one swift motion Freya threw the slimy black appendage to the the floor, and another motion incinerated it. "Eddie!! I've told you and your partner already! You'll get your chocolate along with your rations at the scheduled time!!" The redhead would shout back to her previous patient, only to hear laughter and whooping in response. Just ignore it - giving them attention will only worsen the issue.
Pushing aside the fact that she'd momentarily had a Symbiote Stowaway; Freya continued her rounds until she came upon the cell she was meant to be at - B15.. Currently the temporary home of the Norse God of Mischief, Loki.
Giving a light wrap on the plexiglass of the cell to alert the occupant of her presence and giving a quick swipe of an ID card to grant herself entry and hopefully restrain the one inside.. if they even could be restrained.
"Mr. Laufeyson, I presume?" She'd spent at least a half hour learning to pronounce that name over her lunch break, so she should hope she was saying it correctly. When the chart in front of her said how prideful her patient could be, she'd like to think she could trust that Intel. "I'm Dr. Barnett - are you up to answering a few questions for me?" Freya was ever careful to give some semblance of control to the inmate during an interview - it made her chances of surviving an encounter that much better.
LOKI'S GAZE REMAINED... ⠀⠀focused on the other.
Attentive at first glance, one could mistake that for curiosity but therein lied some kind of morbid desire to mask their own uncertainty. Loki felt as if by assuming a specific front they could prevail over her mind games. Isn't that what those in her field of work do?
In a way, they're a lot alike ─── trying to search for scraps of information, like two snakes that slowly but surely danced together. The main question was: who'd give in first?
HER QUESTION LEFT... ⠀⠀them amused.
“Asking that so soon? Wow, you surely don't waste time.” The trickster blurted out, leaning closer as he rested an arm on his leg. “It's a long story. You see, lies. It all began with lies. Maybe that was the foundation of my very existence.”
Their eyes averted back to her, intense gaze trying to read peer through her own. They wanted to feel what she'd think as they spoke.
“They lied first, of course. All my life i believed myself a child of my parents, but i knew i was odd. As if i didn't belong? One time when drawing a family portrait, i gave my utmost in showing each trait of ours. My brother, father, mother, our pet. The landscape was the best, i was always good with scenery. But when i showed them it, they pointed out i was missing from the portrait.”
Loki's expression shifted a bit, somber in nature before an enigmatic smile came adorning his visage. “I forgot about myself entirely. I'm not sure why...” He made a pause, as if to give room for her to let that sink in.
「 @xxashes-rebornxx 」
"You'd be surprised just how many super villains have a tragic origin story." Freya's voice was calm, her smile steady -- the only thing unreadable about her appearance was her eyes. The fluorescent lights buzzing above her head reflected against her glasses, obscuring her eyes just so unless she saw fit to gaze over them at her patient. "A traumatic childhood often leads to an individual seeking out a life of crime in adulthood -- sometimes as a means to escape family dynamic, other times as an outlet for frustration. It's a very important piece in a very large puzzle."
At that her gaze lifted from just behind her glasses -- her expression was sharp, searching, much more like a Hawk than any snake she or Loki could think of.
And Hawk's eat snakes.
Her gaze lowering once more, Freya jotted something down on her clipboard -- what that was could not be discerned -- and she'd sit, listening to what Loki had to say, silent for a moment before she realized they were done with their story. She'd follow up with a question. "Why do you suppose that is?"
There's a breath of silence as Freya scans for a reaction. "You say you don't know why you excluded yourself from your drawing, but you also seemed to have noticed falsehoods in your family dynamic starting from an early age." She'd pass the story back to Loki -- this time filtered, stating the facts without any emotions tied to it to bring out the truth of the matter. "If you don't mind my asking, how did your family lie to you? Were they lies of omission? White lies?"

Pelvis, sacrum, femur
1. {{ Pelvis }}: what future or legacy are they afraid/excited to be responsible for ?
The future itself leaves Freya in a state of uncertainty. While true that her day to day life as a SHIELD agent after her Invasion is not always pleasant, she's found her rhythm. She's found ways to see her loved ones, and looking into the future only brings her uncertainty -- why can't things just stay the same? Things might not always be perfect, but she's been through worse.
2. {{ Sacrum }}: what sacrifices have they made ?
Herself.
Since she was young Freya has sacrificed herself almost daily -- rather slicing herself open with white hot magic in favor of bringing discomfort for others. Further even, to the Battle of New York this sentiment was proven quite literally when she was the one to seal away Elucia after having released her in the first place. When the Portal Generator had been dismantled and exploded, she hadn't expected to survive the collapse of Stark Tower, and yet..
3. {{ Femur }}: what drives them forward?
To put it bluntly, her entire reason for moving forward is because she has yet to formulate an exit strategy. Every day she further self destructs -- smoking a second cigarette, or drinking until she's too sluggish to keep moving for example -- in the hopes she simply.. won't wake up. While she cares deeply for the few friends and loved ones she does have, she sees a herself as a nuisance -- a liability. Her presence around them alone could put targets on all of their heads, so she puts on a brave face or a mischievous smile and tries to limit her time with them, no matter how much it hurts.
You should turn into a dragon. For your mental health.
Just a baby!!
@xxashes-rebornxx needed a pick-me up ( cont from here)
Even for being in and out of consciousness, he was trying his best to focus on the woman. Seeing Freya so afraid was something he'd never thought he'd see ever. This was the woman who attacked New York, after all. To be brought to her knees over someone like him? It was kind of funny, in a way, especially considering she was suspicious of him at first. Funny how time made things complicated.
Weak eyes study her as she works her magic, before Peter weakly coughs and lays a hand on her face, smiling softly and almost unnervingly as he laughs a little. "You do like me, then? I was so sure you didn't...hnnn...I guess I won that battle, right?'
"I'm so tired, though." And any resemblance of acting strong or tough was melted in the midst of injury. Now he was just an injured teen at wit's end. He doesn't go unconscious though, maybe it's out of curiosity as she says she's about to tell a story. Maybe it's something else.
"I...don't think so?" He weakly tilts his head to the side, even though it does nothing considering she was supporting his weight in her hands. She got him a little more alert though, considering that was her goal.
Brows knitted together with worry would rocket upwards to her hairline in surprise as Peter's hand came up to touch her face. The intersection between her cheek and her jaw was rough -- scaly. Soft, human skin intersecting unnaturally with red scales where woman and beast had been forcefully intertwined. "Don't.. Don't get it twisted, kid." One gloved hand reached for Peter's, pulling it away but refusing to release them. "If your patron deity finds out you got in trouble and I was here but didn't help, he'll have my head." A fond roll of her golden eyes is seen before Freya again focuses on the bleeding Spiderling in front of her.
"Alright, let me think.." The Dragoness' eyes wander as she recalls back to years old memories of a simpler time. "Kid.. would you believe me if I told you I used to be a barista?" One hand extends out in front of both of them, and a small illusion springs to life in her palm -- a younger version of herself.. No horns, no tail, just a 26 year old girl with a hat and an apron, serving up warm drinks throughout the day. The little illusion Freya smiles and waves at Peter before the image fades away in a flicker of blue flame. "See, one day I was working, and this guy comes in -- brown hair, all dolled up in black leather and studs, he looks like he's just come from a Heavy Metal concert."
A small, almost girlish sort of giggle rises from her throat, though she's not likely to admit it.
"And, believe it or not.. I could see his magic." One pointer finger pointed upwards, Freya swirls a bit of magic around her hand as a visualization aid. "Think of it like.. one of Saturn's rings. It always was swirling around him, like looking at a clear riverbed in the forest with little specks of gold glittering just beneath the surface."
"He was the first person I'd ever met that had magic so akin to mine, so I.. passed them a note, asking to meet with me so we could talk." To some degree Freya embellished and censored bits and pieces from her story.. best to keep it PG-13, just in case, after all. "When we met up, it took a little.. convincing.. but after I asked if he could help with my magic, he agreed, and we exchanged names and numbers -- Lou, he called himself."
Pulling the boy closer; Freya gathered Peter into a princess carry as she shakily got herself to her feet after being in a kneeling position for a good few minutes. "Perhaps someday I could show you where I used to work, get you a Hot Choco or something to that affect." She'd think aloud. "But first -- hospital."

If you had asked him a few hours earlier where he'd be, it certainly wouldn't be cradled in Freya's arms against rubble where he had just been fighting some villain and absolutely getting his ass handed to him. He considered himself pretty tolerable to injuries up until his breaking point, to which briefly before Freya's arrival, he ripped his mask off and fell to the floor, feeling like he couldn't breathe with his vision spotty and uneven.
With the woman's arrival, now in her arms as she whispered something or another, Peter looks up with a pale, bloodied face, and those fucking massive eyes that could melt steel.
"Everything hurts." He heaves a breath, "N-no one else got hurt, right?"
Fire in her fist was easy -- the thought of heat was a spark, and her magic was the fuel. It was the same with illusions, clones, etc. -- the only limit was her imagination. And then there was healing.. it'd simply never clicked -- for her, nor for Loki if she had to guess. Blood Magic was a work around.. but she'd made a promise, and Freya wasn't about to expose Peter to something as dark as that.
"No.. No, nobody else is hurt, kid." The dragoness had her head on a swivel, looking left, right, then back down at the Spiderling. Previously; she'd really only seen Peter from the nose and down, but seeing his whole face, bloodied.. "Listen kid, just keep your eyes on me for now, okay?" Hoisting the boy up into her arms, Freya had it so that Peter was resting in her lap with his head being supported by her left arm while she worked to clean his face with her right. "Don't worry about anyone else right now -- I've got it all under control, alright?"
Feeling the boy weakening; Freya made a point to jostle them ever so slightly. "Hey! No falling asleep, okay?!" The panic in her mind ebbed into her tone, nearly coming out as a hiss that she quickly took notice of. "Just.." She attempted to make her voice soften, even slightly. "Maybe I tell you a story? You always focus on Loki when he does that.." Freya's thoughts were a maelstrom as she tried to come up with a story that was both Peter friendly as well as engaging.
"Have I ever told you how me and Lokes' met?" Good enough.

Freya stared listlessly ahead of her, the sounds of the noisy bar blocked out and her drink sitting completely untouched -- likely warm by now, but she couldn't bring it upon herself to care. No, the redhead was a touch more preoccupied with the cheap little gold necklace gangling around her neck -- it wasn't special or anything, just the same as the kind you could buy from any major retail corporation, but.. she had taken the time to imbue it with a spell.
The spell in question temporarily traded her eerie golden gaze for a striking but normal blue and green heterochromia, and the scales, wings, tail, and monstrous legs? Simply gone. Earlier in the day she'd been excited and proud of her work. I can go out in public again! And she had made it a point to try and show her lover, but..
Well, either way, she was here now. On her own.
Suddenly pulled from her thoughts; the sharp sizzling noise of some sort of seltzer being added to a liquid made her ears twitch, and Freya instinctively turned to the next table over to see just what had caused such a disruptive noise. Her eyes honed in on a man and what she could only guess to be his date. It had been brief, but she had watched as the sniveling pig dropped something fizzy -- and ultimately foreign -- into her drink.
Now it felt like her blood was fizzing -- fiery Seidr just itching to be unleashed..
Disengaging the brake on her wheelchair and pushing herself backwards, Freya steered herself to be beside the girl. "Go on, honey.." The redhead whispered. "You can find better, trust me." A breath of silence fell over the table as the girl weighed her options, looking this way and that before coming to her decision.. which was to grab her purse and book it. "Clever one.." The smile Freya wore quickly vanished when the Pig finally gathered themselves enough to speak.
"W-What the hell did you say to my girl??" The Pig sputtered, and Freya's brow narrowed into a scalding glare. "Never mind what I told her, mind announcing what the hell you put in her drink?" Suddenly the bar became a blur as the Pig's greasy hands gripped a hold of Freya's red hair, shaking her. "The fuck you mean, put in her drink, dumb hag??! The hell did you tell my girl??!"
Smirking at her good fortune; Freya could only laugh as the Pig was sent flying into the opposite wall by a burst of her Seidr. "I really do try to avoid doing this in my Sunday best.." Slowly the redhead stood from her wheelchair, attempting to straighten her hair back into the nice bun it'd been moments earlier. "But thank you very much.." Looking up, a glint of gold passed over eyes. "For throwing the first punch."
[ protective ] sender stays curled close even after receiver falls asleep + reverse ?
Time had blurred while Freya spent time with Peter -- one minute the boy had been yammering about something nonstop, and the next.. quiet, mixed with the subtle shift in weight she felt when the Spiderling leaned into her, their breaths coming slow and even.
Subtle surprise quickly melted into amused befuddlement. "Jeez, kid.." Freya's voice was soft as she whispered to herself, if only to fill the void of silence Peter inevitably left behind. "I know us old folk are boring to listen to, but this is next level.."
Silence once again settled over the two as Freya situated herself for what she had in mind with all the subtlety a woman with a teenager sleeping against her side could muster. She'd shifted into her dragon form enough times for it to be nearly silent at this point, and as she did so she curled around Peter in turn, her serpentine frame coiling into a nearly perfect circle.
A purring -- or growling, somewhat hard to tell -- circle.

"Wherever you were.." Freya's eyes were half lidded now from the exhaustion, practically on the verge of fainting when Loki's question registered in her mind. Slowly, she'd nod her head, but her brow would furrow slightly at the implication that she was lucky.
"I.. w-wouldn't call this.. lucky." The redheads grip on Loki's front tightened a touch, and little black prickles started bleeding into vision. "Please.." She attempted to argue, but it came out more as begging. "I have powers.. I-I can pretend.. She'll find me, she'll.."
With that, Freya's remaining strength gave out. Her shaky voice trailed off before she could finish her sentence, and her eyes became distant before shutting entirely while her head simply nodded to the side, leaning against Loki's front as she took slow and shallow breaths.
Loki frowned down at her. He could tell that she wasn't thinking clearly. He needed to get her out of here. He carefully lifted her into his arms and began walking back towards the secret path while shielding her from the sun and heat. It wasn't a terribly long trip thankfully and soon they were back in the forest near her home village.
Now he had a more difficult choice to make. He couldn't take her to her mother, nor to Asgard, nor to some random village while she was like this. Which meant he'd have to find someone else within the village to take her. He tried to think about if they'd talked about the other villagers during his visits. The only one he could remember her mentioning with any degree of fondness was the pigeon keeper.
He didn't entirely like that option but he didn't have much choice. So he began walking towards the village, staying on the edge until he spotted the right building. He thought about leaving her on the doorstep but decided against it. Instead he pretended to be a concerned traveler whom had discovered her in the forest. He claimed she'd said something about pigeons and an abusive mother. The black eye was still visible to led credibility to that part of the tale.
It was late into the night when Loki returned to the village with Freya in tow -- and yet, all was not quiet. There were a few of the villagers about with lanterns and torches, calling out Freya's name when Loki arrived at the Pigeon Keepers' home. The keeper was an older man in his 50's or 60's with a head of grey hair and a short beard to match. He had just been about to send one of his Pigeons off with a message when Loki appeared with the girl.
"Is that..?" His voice was old and weathered, but not unkind as he hurried over. "By the God's.. You found Marianna's girl! Come, we should get her inside.." Despite at first appearing feeble, Ramus displayed an unlikely strength as he collected Freya into his arms, hobbling up the steps sideways to avoid knocking Freya's head against the banister.
Inside the hut was very little -- a fireplace with a few cauldrons of varying sizes built into the dirt floor, a few straw beds, and some boxes and bags that seemed to contain food for the pigeons roosting outside.
Slowly Ramus would move to lay Freya down upon one of the straw beds and would pull a blanket made of animal hides up to her chest. After this was done, the old keeper would kneel in the alcove to tend to the fire with a furrowed brow.
"Marianna beat her, you say..?" Ramus peered over his shoulder at Freya, taking note of her black eye. "I don't wish to seem mistrusting, boy.. but are you certain? Marianna was the one that brought her disappearance to us to begin with, hysterical and in tears."
