sometimes I think about what would happen if I got transported into the undertale multiverse and when I entertain that train of thought and how realistically I’d probably get along with the characters, I’m like

what would papyrus think about my pixel art tattoo of him, cape swaying in the wind, on my thigh, very obviously showing evidence of being blurred and faded for longer than he’s known me

he’d probably be HONOURED and sans, if unaware of my predicament, would think his brother has a stalker

until he saw his own pixel art tattoo. on my other thigh . winking with a whoopee cushion in his hand

my fuck ass would try and pull my shorts down further as I sceddaddle but accidentally get my shirt caught and yanked down as well, while I’m turned around, perfectly displaying the deltarune symbol below the back of my neck, where I’d proceed to fall on my face

this haunts me

and it’s why I’m currently saving up for those tattoos

DELTARUNE CH 4 SPOILER WARNING

Sometimes, when I’m playing deltarune and Kris lashes out on me with a hockey stick, I’m like

“what if they found out the player was a grandma”

Because my grandma plays deltarune

So I’ll be playing on my own and I’ll start thinking, damn

Does Kris ever wonder why the soul never tried to dodge attacks (or runs into them??) or is just stuck on a puzzle for 3 days until they do it first try? Do they and think “why’d I have to get a masochist player who has to cheat to do a push block puzzle” but it’s just my 78 year old grandma who’s been playing for months and can’t remember the game mechanics and when I come over every other week, I help her with the puzzles

What if my Kris and my grandmas Kris met. I headcanon that they’d bond over this

My Kris about their player: yea idk mines never killed or done snowgrave but I hate being controlled. I live in constant fear

My grandmas Kris: mine got stuck on board one. yeah. board ONE. they run into every attack and kill everything but is nice to lancer so they chill ig but I, too, live in constant fear. wouldn’t it be funny if your player helped my player sometimes and that’s why mine only kills things but will randomly have me spare something after she dies 8 times

Anyway, more about my grandma! Her favorite characters are Lancer and Susie

She used to be kinda homophobic but ngl I think deltarune make her a lot more tolerant of it, she loves Susie and Noelle, thinks they’re really cute

When I asked her if she remembered Noelle and Berdley in ch 3 (she hadn’t played in a month), she remembered Noelle and not Berdley. 😔 I had to show her a pic and she was like “oh, that guy. that little fucker was annoying” (she struggled in his battle)

meanwhile, Berdley is my favorite character alongside Kris and kerdley is my otp

She used to call Ralsei “Raph-ee-ale”

She HATED tenna but she found out my boyfriend likes him so now she tolerates him, and she also loved Papyrus when she played Undertale.

Papyrus doesn’t know how popular he is, he’s got a 78 year old fangirl who would probably be honoured to make him lasagna or goulash

I imagine an undertale crossover AU where my grandma (obviously the main character) reluctantly befriended Papyrus (was forced to, and then she adopted him). except Underfell Papyrus shows up and steals her and she’s the only other person that Doomfanger can tolerate

Underfell Sans would think she’s some harmless old lady until my grandma reveals some completely out of pocket shit like back when she owned a bar and tried to fight 6 women by herself and made them flee and then he’d either A) respect her like never before B) ask his brother to reevaluate his choices in found family

Spirittake climates!

One of the main ways that the shaken core affected the underground are its climates shifting into… almost like biomes.

Snowdin is now pretty dark, but monsters that live there have evolved to have UV light to be able to see early mornings and nights. As for weather, Snowdin is not much different than in undertale. In regular daytime, it probably has dusk and dawn light levels. With near permanent winter and restricted plant growth and many dead trees from when the core was stronger, it may be considered a tundra to us.

A bit higher than that is waterfall. It’d probably be a polar biome, with infrequent ice rain from precipitation of the slushy waterfalls. That is the main change along with that making it very easy to drown, and you must use stepping stones to get past. This would likely be where SpiritTake monster kid is saved (from drowning instead of falling).

Hotlands is elevated on many bridges, easily the tallest point in the underground, and therefore will be more of a windy type of cold; almost like the mountains you’d find in Ireland, with much thinner air. Less cold than both of the former, but the wind seeps the warmth out of your bones anyway if you’re not covered (and then you sweat profusely). The lava is still there beneath a thick sheet of volcanic stone, appearing almost solid, but not quite.

I haven’t thought much about the ruins yet. They seem almost comfortable in game, like they’d be the right temperature, maybe a little humid. In spirittake, they’re more cave-like. The stone saps all the warmth from the air. It’s not as cold as Snowdin, but it’s cold, and some places are more humid than others. There’s no wind, at least. Toriel manages to keep the ruins at a non-freezing temperature with her fire magic, but even she is limited in her abilities now-a-days, and some places that she can’t manage to fully warm as well as before are dangerous. Water that seeps in through the walls freeze, and expand, and some of these walls are very unstable and cracking. Cave ins are common in these places, so Toriel blocked them off. You can probably still get by, if you wanted to risk it; she mostly was preparing for children and winged creatures.

New home is… similar. Asgore in this, is very ill, almost constantly bedridden. His shadow has just barely not consumed him. He misses his wife. He misses his children, he misses the children he’s killed. He wonders what type of family they could have become, if he had just… You can almost feel the instability, depression and regret in the wind as soon as you walk into new home. Even Flowey shives, despite residing in warmth of Lumins jacket. Again, it is barely above freezing, but it is… noticeably colder than the ruins.

Spirittake concept art and more (character specific) lore!

I’m probably going to change their design 50 more times before I’m happy with them but here’s the ones I’ve made so far!

Eyes/Flowey is the only character that’s outwardly insane. The other monsters will try to hide the worst of it, but most know it’s obvious enough not to lie about. Regardless, Flowey judges them for their manipulation. “Your best and only real friend down here”, he’d say, because he’s the only one true to you.

A little dialogue Flowey would probably say is along the lines of,

“After a certain point of it always being something new, it stops being interesting and starts getting concerning. When there’s no way to tell time, it feels like infinity, and the effects of infinity begin happening. Anything and everything possibly, with no exceptions. And let’s just say, everyone down here has a pretty fucked mind when push comes to shove.”

Papyrus is still the light of the underground and remains very loved. Mainly, he is more nervous. Still extremely outgoing and extroverted, but more unsure of himself and shuts himself in a lot. Has a hard time maintaining friendships. While his shadow didn’t fully take over, unlike everyone else (except for Flowey, due to him not having a soul), he is not all there. Hallucinates (is it really a hallucination?) Sans sometimes, he is in strong denial and still cooks for Sans. He makes him a plate out of a habit that he doesn’t want to break. He spends a lot of days with Undyne and Alphys, who try to be there for him despite their growing psychosis.

Alphys has a round glasses with one broken lens and a long, fluffy lab coat that’s probably either electric heated or lined with hot hands hand warmers. I haven’t thought of designs for Papyrus and Undyne yet, but I’m thinking longer, lined gloves for Papyrus, and he dorns his brothers hoodie around his neck.

Alphys’ intention is only to find a way to manage the core again without fully shutting it down. Instead of a shy stutter, she is in a near constant state of cold. She’s not freezing, but definitely shivering most of the time. All of her experiments go towards stabilising the core.

“If o-only that lava was safe enough to use for warmth. It’s s-so concentrated in p-power, it’s more d-dangerous than the core itself at f-full capacity, and that’s precisely w-why any human s-soul to fall down here will be used to p-power the core, before we can even t-think about getting to the surface.”

Spirittake lore!

I’m going to write a semi-proper introduction to my undertale AU, Spirittake, since I’ll be posting my watercolor concept art later.

Lumins soul color is cyan. Lumin was a pure integrity mage whose moral compass leaned towards kindness-based integrity; so when she fell, the kindness souls spirit of my universe decided to stick with her. They didn’t fuse, but she did evolve with the added power. With it, Lumins pure soul trait overflowed and shifted slightly with the added kindness, the blue and green creating a cyan and leading to her tenacity. Tenacity could be described as determination through hardships, but for Lumin, it’s her integrity strong enough not to give up on holding on to her morals closely, despite difficulty.

As for evolved souls; Think of it how LOVE can power determination, its kind of like that; but certain branches of other souls (like tenacity) powers that soul trait. Lumin is the last in their own AU to be an evolved mage, so she’s last to hold the Tenacity trait as well.

When Frisk fell into the underground, everything was as it once was in Undertale. They grew to love the monsters, they grew old with the monsters, but over and over again, they missed seeing their overjoyed faces at the sight of the stars for the first time. At the sight of the sun for the first time. So, over and over again did Frisk reset. Over and over again, until Sans started remembering every little bit from each reset.

Flowey managed to break from the loophole and completely isolate from this, refusing to interact with Frisk after the 50th true pacifist reset and seemingly disappearing completely. Sans, on the other hand, wasn’t as lucky, trapped in his usual dialogue and interactions for the sake of his brother.

At least, that’s until Sans is unable to hide his growing paranoia and insanity after him and his brother are torn from the surface one last time. Instead of Papyrus being the one to try stopping Frisk from leaving Snowdin, Sans takes his place, not allowing Frisk mercy and fighting in hopes he can hopefully make them give up. Fighting so that he can take their soul and free monsters, and fighting to stay free.

Except he doesn’t have enough determination. Frisk, still wanting to do a pacifist run, realizes they don’t have a choice in killing him, and eventually, Sans dusts. Flowey, surprisingly, still doesn’t appear. Frisk is unable to achieve their perfect happy ending, attempting to reset but no matter how many times they try, whichever saves they load, Sans is gone, and Papyrus remembers what they’ve done. Frisk takes Sans’ soul and attempts to use it to cross the barrier, making it past just before Sans uses the last of his souls magic and determination to kill them. I’d have to say this would’ve went wrong regardless because Sans wasn’t a boss monster. They’re unable to come back, as is Sans.

Sans doesn’t truly “die”, though. He ends up as a spirit, just not as lucky as Napstablook. Since he wasn’t born a ghost, only Papyrus can see him, but everyone remembers him. Regardless, Sans’ death didn’t lack other repressions. His influx of magic leaving the underground impacts the core directly enough for it to malfunction; not severely, but enough for it to have impacts that I’ll go into detail of in later posts. These impacts, along with the loss of the 6 human souls, and fluctuating magic levels, end up being what drive monsters to insanity (as well as a drop of temperature in the underground). Due to it having external causes, the monsters insanity is something I may end up having taking a form inside of them that we will call shadow, and Papyrus and Flowey are the only ones who’s shadow hasn’t taken over. Papyrus wears his brothers hoodie tied his neck.
