Donald Trump and the Republican Party are responsible for radicalizing yet another homegrown, WHITE male, domestic terrorist. And Trump is deleting evidence of the more damning tweets that link his racist rhetoric to the El Paso shooting. “Aggrieved” white males with guns (including the police) hear Trump’s constant dog whistles. And then they act on them.

Losing a Kpop Idol and Working in Mental Health...

I work as a Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern and I was invited to participate in giving a talk to several high school classes on suicide today. Ironically I woke up to this first thing in the morning at 6:50am.

I know many of my students didn’t really know who Jonghyun was but he was one of the many celebrities and artists who I was able to mention today in my presentation, as sad as that is. I am a HUGE Kpop fan (my other half can attest as there are days there is more Korean in the house than English) and SHINee was one of the very first groups I ever had the honor of listening to back in 2009 when I entered the world of Kpop. While I have staned many different groups throughout the years, I can never express how much these idols are humans too. They are people like you and I that have emotions and struggle, sometimes finding themselves in a dark place to which they may never come out of.

Losing Jonghyun just goes to show the importance of reaching out to friends and family when you’re in that dark place. If you or anyone you know is feeling like you can’t do this anymore, please call:

If someone tells you or hints they are wanting to kill themselves, please call the police, a parent, a neighbor, etc. to check on them and make sure they are on the phone or near you. Don’t be afraid to ask them “Are you thinking of killing yourself?” or call them back when you get that text at 2am saying “I don’t want to be here anymore”. Even if they believe it’s a secret, they are telling YOU because they value and trust you with their life. It’s better to lose a friendship for a couple days/months/weeks than it is to lose a friend forever. You are all the difference between someone waking up tomorrow and someone never waking up again.

There is hope and you are it.

Some SHINee fans have committed suicide after hearing the tragic news about Jonghyun’s death. © Please don’t do this. I know it hurts a lot but please don’t take your own life. It’s not what he would have wanted for you. This is not the way. I am here for anyone who needs comfort and just wants to talk. I will listen. Please speak out, share your sadness and your pain. It’s okay to do so. It’s good for your own mental health. Don’t bottle it up and take your own life. 

SHINee members needs your love and support. Kim Jonghyun needs your wishes.

Jonghyun’s death wasn’t a tragedy. It was a lesson.

No more believing that all idols are perfect. They’re humans. They need to feel loved no matter what. And we need to let them know so that they can smile from their hearts and not just for the camera.

Please do not send hate to Yixing for not pushing this back at this time. Due to the involvement of Chinese sponsorships, it is impossible. I am positive he is grieving as well. He performed with SHINee before debut and grew up with them like the rest of EXO.

This is so heartbreaking. This is the saddest yet most beautiful version of Replay. Shawols, please stay strong. Jonghyunnie is in a better place now. A place where he can find peace and happiness.

Reminder that Jonghyun would still want you to take care of yourselves, even in a time as hard as this is. 

Please don’t forget to eat, even if you can only handle something small. Taking a hot bath or a shower will help make you feel better, physically and mentally. Don’t feel guilty about needing a distraction from this or doing something to help make you can feel happy. Don’t be afraid to cry as much as you need to about this either, you’ll feel better, just make sure to drink water once you’re calm again. Go easy on yourself, it’s okay to not feel up to certain tasks right now. And lastly, talk to someone about how you’re feeling or to relive the good memories, it’s okay to ask for the help if that’s what you need.
