despite not wanting to pursue the sword so he doesnt get overshadowed by ryoma,

takumi’s still very good with a blade and isn’t at all rusty if a class change is required of him,

he still spars with ryoma regularly, and also his own retainers--

oboro and hinata are incredibly receptive sparring partners and their energy helps keep him

on the ball; also because of oboro he’s decent with naginata as well.

(this being said he holds a strong preference for the bow, once he got used to it he saw that the

weapon took the most advantage of how his brain works; takumi works better on the large scale,

and being involved in hand-to-hand is much more improvisational and on-the-fly than he’d like--

he can still do it, and pushes himself to respond to it better, but being in a class suited to his

strengths does give a bit of a self-confidence boost.)
