alicenine. restarting! This is an interview with all members about the feelings in that name, and the live shows with three different themes (Part 1)!

A9 are restarting as alicenine. At the 15th anniversary live that A9 held at Hibiya Open Air Hall, <A9 LAST ONEMAN TOUR BEST OF A9 TOUR ALIVERSARY FINAL & 15TH ANNIVERSARY>, the moment that they announced that they would change their name back to the original “alicenine.” and resume activities, they garnered a lot of attention, to the point that it was in the global trend ranking on Twitter. alicenine., who came back at their festival, <Beautiful Beast Festival> on August 24, will finally begin full scale activities. From October, they will hold their first solo tour since changing their name, <alicenine. ONEMAN TOUR 2019 “Kakumei Kaika ep1. -Zettai "Kuro” Ryoiki">. After that, they will hold <alicenine Christmas Concert “Kakumei Kaika ep2. - SYMPHONIC ALICEMAS 2019”> on December 25 at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA, Tokyo, and then <alicenine. New Year Concert 2020 “Kakumei Kaika ep.3 -SYMPHONIC GALAXY-”> at Osaka Conference Center on January 5, 2020. We decided to do an interview with them, who are doing three different live series centered around their restart single, “Kakumei Kaika -Revolutionary Blooming-”, which goes on sale October 23. In the first part, we heard their thoughts about the live shows, and in the second part, we ask about the new single.

Despite being rushed to the hospital last November due to a heart attack, he made his recovery at incredible speed. Now, as if nothing had even happened at all, Tora is energetically carrying out activities for A9’s tumultuous 15 year anniversary. Although in the previous issue, Hiroto had reported on Tora’s condition, we asked the man himself about the sequence of events and his current condition. “Nothing has changed. I only just lost a little weight”. Not even changing a little, the blunt but charming Tora sat down to talk to us.

Supporting character.

Tora, who makes his first appearance in this magazine after roughly four years. In those four years, the band went completely independent and changed their band name. Tora, the guitarist, has come to be responsible for directing music videos. Although he responds with indifference, saying “Nothing has changed”, that he is also working on videography is surely the result of him thinking about what he should do for A9. Tora, who, unlike his physical appearance, says that “finding the gaps” as a supporting member to the main role suits his personality, he looks back on his life as a creator.

Yokohama New Side Beach (aka ex Sunphonix Hall) DIRECTIONS

The nearest station is Shin-Yokohama; to get there, it really depends where you come from. If you come from Shibuya though, the fastest way it to take the Toyoko/Minatomirai subway line, get off at Kikuna station and take te JR train - Yokohama line, Shin-Yokohama is just one stop away. Both express and local trains stop at Kikuna so you don’t need to worry about it. It seems complicated but the stations are all very close to each other so you’re really not walking much.  Another option is to arrive at Yokohama station and then take the blue subway line and get off at Shin-Yokohama, but I think it takes more time.  If you’re in Shin-Yokohama subway, take exit 5, turn around 180° degrees (there’s also another exit that puts you in the right direction, I think it’s exit 7 but I’m not sure) and go straight. You need to pass a building with a Uniqlo, then a building that looks like a Greek temple, and you’ll be in the right direction. If you come from the JR, my suggestion is still to go down to the subway and take exit  5. Otherwise just follow the directions for Yokohama Arena, there are maps around and there is a tourist office in the station.

Apparently the drink ticket is a pick without date, like at Shibuya Rex. There  are some coinlockers inside but I don’t remember how many, the station is pretty close so a I’ve seen a lot of bangyas leaving their stuff in the lockers there. Buppan area seems to be at the entrance of the venue.

Tora (A9) Interview in Tribal Tattoo Vol. 64

Just like a phoenix; the determination to restart

A9, who, using the occasion of their 10th year anniversary, decided to part ways with their management company and do their activities on their own. Tora, the guitarist, has many tattoos on his body, saying that he got more during the hiatus period last year. Before he knew it, the “image of a tattooed musician” that he aspired to ever since he was little turned into his own ideal image of “Tora”. Now that they have welcomed their 11th year anniversary, we asked him, who keeps on progressing with the band, to talk about the history of his tattoos.

Yeah, (people and businesses) can be super strict. Back when I only had the one tattoo on my stomach and we were on tour, we went to a Super Sentou (public bath), and just as I was taking my clothes off they came up to me and said ‘please leave now.’ I was like, 'For real?!’ I hadn’t even gotten fully undressed yet! (laughs) But you know, we’ve got the Olympics coming up, so there will be a lot of foreigners with tattoos coming to Japan for it, and I’ve heard regulations for that will kind of loosen up a bit. So, when the Olympics get here, I’m just gonna live as a sightseeing foreigner (laughs).
