Was working on my Rocky cosplay and came up with a fun Eridian headcannon!
So my Rocky cosplay (or as ive been calling him: Person-Shaped Rocky) is going to feature some little braids in the hair, with some fun beads...
Adding little braids isn't anything really significant for Eridians. It's a general, nice fashion/style, but its also not uncommon/unheard of for Eridians to be braiding - or grooming in general - each others hair.
The beads they braid into it, are significant. They're a type of jewellery and to share them with loved ones is a special act, its the equivalent of sharing jewellery. (Or how two people wear one each of a pair of earrings)
My Person-Shaped Rocky has 4 beads: One that Adrian put in, one a family member put in and one a crew member/friend put in.
Now, I'm giving my P-S Rocky long hair (the guy was alone for 40 odd years and didnt bother to cut it) and those 3 braids are about an inch long and sit at the ends of the hair. The braids got put in before Rocky left for the mission, so as Rockys hair grew out, the braids got lower and lower.
There is one braid that Rocky has. A "proper", a little messy, full length braid that starts from his scalp and ties off at the end. The bead in it, isn't even a bead... its a t-shirt button that Grace pulled off one of his shirts, since he obviously didn't have any beads packed.
And by the time they get to Erid, Grace has a little braid in his hair with a little Xenonite bead in it...
Love the idea of aroacespec Grace and too-busy-being-dictator-to-entertain-the-thought Stratt not noticing even a little bit that they act too familiar. The Vatt sees Stratt steering Grace somewhere with a hand on the small of his back and go "👀😏" meanwhile the two of them are just like "ah yes very efficient for navigating crowds quickly :)". Early-apocalyptic qpr of all time
being in the project hail mary fandom is taking me back to og tumblr days in the best ways while also being one of the most wholesome fandoms i’ve been in (i personally haven’t seen a lot of arguing)
come one, come all! we’ve got:
- popular queer headcanons people agreeing are basically canon (aroace ryland grace)
- unhinged crossover shipping that ends up trending on tumblr (bloodymary/simon from iron lung) which doesn’t take away from the aroace headcanon at all
- a sibling au birthing beautiful manips that the Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons fandom would be proud of (coltland twins, courtland gentry, etc)
- and overall just good vibes that are helping me through my final weeks of college
