everyone in the league calling ilya an asshole meanwhile he’s apologizing to the bartender for his rowdy teammates, smiling politely at the nurse, playing mermaids with the kids, painting hayden’s kid’s nails and then his own nails to show them that boys can paint their nails too, getting excited over the team puppy, and then spoiling his dog rotten when he finally gets one. sorry but idgaf that he’s mean to grown ass men, they deserve it 😭😭

HEATED RIVALRY, EPISODE 3 'HUNTER'

So I keep seeing things like "it has no plot" or "just sex and no plot" about Heated Rivalry and I don't understand. Like, the romance is the plot. Two closeted idiots meet and have sex and slowly fall in love despite being from extremely different backgrounds and worlds and playing for rival teams is actually quite a lot of plot actually? What are people expecting? Heists? Aliens? Spies? Watching them both navigate their emotions is more exciting to me than most action movies. The sex is just a bonus (and a legitimate emotional storytelling tactic, in book and show).

in the final scene when ray makes pete get up from his knees(by the way i legit thought he was about to propose) and tells him to keep walking with him for a while only to immediately stop for pete to win!

i keep thinking about what went through his mind in that moment. the realization that he wouldn’t be able to handle losing pete? was he ripping the band aid off so he wouldn’t feel dread or fear of pete sacrificing himself again if they kept going? i could literally feel his desperation to keep pete alive seeping through the screen they’re making me dizzy

i've said it before but it will forever and always make me insane that jacob's ending is to join the cullens for the sake of bella not having to give anything up. they find out jake will be immortal & tied to renesmee forever, so bella gets to smile & say "my family is finally complete! ^-^" but jake already HAS a family. he has a father and 2 sisters. quil, embry, seth and sam are like his brothers. jacob and leah were planning to run away together. he's always been welcome in emily's home, sue has been a family friend since before his birth. bella abandons her mortality by choice because she feels no connection to the people around her, but jacob has really strong bonds. it's clear that every character we meet in la push is like family to him, he's an active member of the community. jake would've graduated high school and been a mechanic, would've grown into a young man. a good friend, a fun uncle, a present son. he's set up to have such a rich life. and he's just magically compelled to give that up. beyond his control, he loses sight of everything, because his high school crush's baby is now the singular most important thing to him. he's perpetually 18 with his perpetually 18 year old girlfriend, running around vancouver or alaska or wherever with the girl who friendzoned him at 16 & her in-laws (who were antagonistic to him for months). and i'm just supposed to say omg yay now he doesn't have to let go of bella! everyone is happy! it's complete madness

jacob loathes that he's a werewolf, he hates that his humanity and youth were taken from him. even when he does eventually start to grow into it & have fun, he still resents that he doesn't get to be the carefree kid he was before. being inhuman is the worst thing to ever happen to him.

and the thing is, being a werewolf, he actually isn't giving up so much of his humanity, when compared to the vampires. the absolute worst part of it for him is the period where it isolates him from the people he cares about, but eventually, it becomes something that bonds him even more closely to all of them, it gives him an even bigger family. while he grapples with his monstrosity, he at least has the support of his pack.

and in the end he loses the only good thing he has left! jacob's lowest points (early transformation when he's cut off from bella, embry, & quil; the period before the wedding when he goes off & lives as a lone wolf) are when he's isolated from his community, and then i'm supposed to buy that his happy ending is leaving his community behind out of unconditional loyalty to this vampire family? where he will have to give up what little sense of humanity & mortality he has left?

jacob knew how it felt to lose his sense of self, his innocence, his relationships, his mortality, all against his will, and spent a year trying to convince bella that she does not want to go through that, and in the end not only does he have to watch her throw herself into that voluntarily & not struggle the way he did at all– he's forced to endure the exact same loss, again, completely against his will. and this time he will never get any of it back.

everyone spends 3.5 books trying to convince bella that being immortal is very tragic and she's far too young to decide that that's what she wants, but when jacob, 16, has immortality just suddenly thrust upon him, NOBODY talks about how sad that is at all. it's eerie that this really strong-willed hot-headed opinionated character suddenly has zero agency, and we're told that that makes him happy? when he imprints it's literally like he was brainwashed or got a lobotomy or something. he completely loses his free will, but it's convenient for bella, so it's just like "oh phew now you can live with us forever glad it all worked out!" INSIDIOUS.
