perhaps we will never fully understand the many reasons why God allows us to walk through hard seasons. seasons that feel so dry and empty. seasons that bring a storm of tears. seasons that bring us to our knees in full surrender, reminding us we are not strong enough to walk through this alone. but perhaps we don't need to fully understand God's reasons, because even if we did, the hurt would still be the same. the questions would simply multiply. and our hearts would break a little bit more. we may not always understand God's reasoning, but we can stand on the firm foundation of His goodness.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and in Charlotte, Mayor Vi Lyles has dedicated May 16th as “Let’s Talk About It Mental Health Awareness Day.” Eustress is one non-profit in particular that is elevating the topic through its mission and annual “Let’s Talk About it Walk and Gala” on 5/16. Eustress (yoo-stress) is a non-profit dedicated to provide culturally competent mental health services to underserved communities that may not have the access to quality care. They do this through subsidizing therapy sessions for kids & families and providing services/programs for people right in their communities. Individuals from low-income backgrounds face barriers to receive formal treatment including affordability of treatment, transportation, flexibility to schedule an appointment, finding culturally competent care, and stigma for asking for help.
