Description: Taeko has been in love with Oka since they met. Oka has been upset, and her birthday is coming soon, so Taeko takes making her happy into her own hands
Taeko watched rain drip off the leaves, left after the rainfall.
She heard a familar voice call her name.
“Taeko! Taeko! We gotta go home!” Hanako called.
“Just one second!” Taeko replied, remembering to check on Oka. She sprinted to the Occult club, hoping to find the dark haired girl.
She peeked in, sighing in relief. Oka was there, sadly looking at her book. Taeko didn’t know exactly why Oka was upset, but was too nervous to ask. She tried remembering all the jokes she heard in her lifetime.
“Hey Oka! What did the ocean say to the other ocean?”
Oka looked at Taeko. “What..?”
“Nothing, they just waved.”
Oka laughed, but Taeko could tell it was forced. Oka most likely knew she was trying to cheer her up then.
“Taeko! We need to go now!”
“Have a good day, Oka! I’ll see you tomorrow!” Taeko quickly waved to Oka, before running after her sister. Oka’s birthday was soon. Two more days.
Taeko felt rain hit against her head as she padded to school. She would ask her tecaher if she could use the classroom for something. If the teacher denied, Taeko would find another way for her plan to work.
“You can’t use the classroom, but you can use the roof.” Her teacher replied. Taeko nodded, visiting the art room to get any extra supplies.
She and Hanako spent the entire school day cutting up paper, drawing, and more. She glanced at the clock. 5:03.
She dragged a stool to one of the indoor areas of the school, along with the decorations. She taped things on the roof, on the walls... She prayed Oka would be happy.
When she was done, she happily looked at the design. The windows were covered, paper spirits with glowing star stickers on them hanging from the ceiling. She did what she could to put supernatural being on the walls, and in bold, and the very front, it read “HAPPY BIRTHDAY OKA!”
Taeko prepared herself mentally, before padding to the Occult Clubroom.
“Hey, Oka! I wanna show you something!” Taeko cheerfully called. She heard a chair being moved, then the door opened. “What is it?”
“You’ll need to come see!”
Taeko lead Oka to the area she set up everything. And watched Oka’s face brighten up. “Happy birthday, Oka!” Taeko cheerfully said to Oka. She pulled her into a hug, and they soon sat on the floor with each other, watching the paper spirits.
