Remember this little guy? His name’s Sam Griner. 

On Aug. 26, 2007 his mom took a photo of him at 11-months-old, standing on the beach in a green and white shirt, staring into the camera and making a determined little fist. Soon after, the photo morphed into the “Success Kid” meme, and Sam was Internet famous. 

He’s now 8 years old:

just fucking draw. don’t compare yourself to other people, don’t stop because you drew a lot last tuesday and you haven’t visibly improved. it takes time, effort, and a lot of perseverance. besides, no matter how “bad” you think you are, there’s still gonna be someone who thinks the stuff you produce is the best goddamn thing they’ve ever seen in their entire life. the artist you were five years ago would have their mind fucking blown by the artist you are today. so just draw a fuckton, because every new thing you draw is one drawing better than you were before.

you will have off days. days where nothing you draw is satisfactory. days where you can’t even stop to draw a single thing. don’t let those stop you from drawing completely.

take breaks, find new inspiration. draw to improve your skill but don’t feel like you’re losing the race- because there isn’t one. your journey is your own. like the person above me said: there will always be someone who thinks your work is the best they’ve ever seen.
