Had a very rare day off so I put on the skull yukata and headed over to Shibamata to say hello to Tora-san, in somewhat Shōwa-esque style 😁

(Also, I totally suck at tying women’s obi so I wear a men’s yukata instead.)

Ice Ribbon Joshi Pro Wrestling's ring announcer Chiharu. She asked me to draw her way back in July and I only got around to finishing it now! My friend Jen visited me in Japan and we went to Edo Mura, a theme park resembling the Edo Period. You can opt to get dressed as a character and all the actors in the park will treat you accordingly. We chose to dress up as Shinsengumi and had the best day. Although I drew my sword against the police and got us arrested, haha.

(Did anyone else get the “Lone Wolf and Cub” reference? Jen had to explain it to me, haha)

I love the Brutalist architecture of Setagaya Ward Office. It’s like I’m filing paperwork at Evil Villain City Hall 💀

Due to its several rivers and natural basins, Tokyo has always suffered devastating floods during the rainy seasons and typhoons. Pictures from the 80s and 90s would show waist-deep urban flooding all over the city with people resorting to boats to get around. To address this problem, work on the Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel, nicknamed the G-Cans project, was started in 1992. 14 years (and approximately $3 billion) later, the project was completed in June 2006 and flooding in Tokyo has become a thing of the past.
