I... should probably let you guys know I still exist xD
Tbh, I’m mainly here because I was mailed I was about to lose my name? But then I noticed other people were still around, so I figured - I should let you guys know I’m alive and stuff xD
Life’s been moving on for me - though I’m still in school, this time it is looking like I’ll be able to finish it. I got married, and we have 4 cats now in our apartment.
Uhm... I’ve been playing FFXIV lately, so that’s a thing? Not doing all that much Warhammer stuff anymore, beyond running the Dark Heresy campaign I’ve been running for years.
Anyway, I guess that’s just a small update - though I’m always happy to get back in touch - just horrible at staying in touch ;)
if you see someone active on social media or something, and you message them, and they don’t reply, they don’t have to. just because they are awake and alive does not mean they have to engage with you whenever you want them to. you are not entitled to someone else’s time.
in the past, an abuser would see me post online and then hound me on aim until i answered. i felt like i had to hide. they also lived in my building and would pound on my door if they saw me online and i wasn’t responding to them. i had to completely ditch a screenname, lie about having skype, and turn off my phone to hide. if i saw they were online i couldn’t post on facebook or interact with anyone without them demanding to interact with me. the only legitimate excuse not to talk to them was being asleep. in their eyes, if i were really their friend, i would always want to engage no matter what, even if i had a migraine or work to do or wasn’t feeling very social. it didn’t matter.
please do not do this. if someone doesn’t write you back, don’t guilt them about where they are or what they’re doing. if you see someone posting on tumblr or facebook and they aren’t signed into aim or google or skype or whatever, that’s their business. if they are signed on but don’t write you back, it’s okay. sometimes people can’t talk to everyone all the time every time. some people can only talk to one person at a time without getting overloaded. some people are signed on in case someone needs to contact them with something important and not to be social. they’re not always hiding from you, and you shouldn’t make them feel like they HAVE to hide from you.
this is probably jumbled and i’m probably missing a lot here, but pressuring people to always be available to you every hour of the day and always answer the phone or text or chat or pm or whatever…if you require that of someone, you might need to take a step back.
I’m pretty often on my laptop with a semi-serious case of brain fog. In that case, I don’t want to be social at all, and honestly, the feeling of having to chat with people does cause me to avoid certain websites and such, just because I might show as active/online on things like messenger or steam chat. I feel bad never being online, but it’s better than constantly having to tell people “sorry, I’m a bit tired, so I don’t really feel like talking.”
For me, the body positivity movement is something very conflicting. I know I'm fat (currently 107,6 kilos), but if I think about how much I hate my body (for more than just the weight, probably), I honestly believe no-one should (be made to) feel that way.. On the other hand, it is important to remain realistic. If I were thinner I would probably be prettier. If the weight loss is done healthily, I would be fitter too. I'm working on it, but it's slow going to ensure the changes are permanent.
I don’t think it’s about hating yourself implicitly. It’s about finding the motivation to change for the better. It’s about changing every part of your lifestyle, your habits, to make a happier you.
I’m sorry this took so long, I was trying to find a way to respond without making it about my personal issues, but then I realised that’s impossible because my feelings about body positivity as a thing and a movement is completely tied to those feelings, so instead I’ll try to not talk about that too much.
First off, @ditchywitch you’re right, the way I feel about myself very, very much influences how well I take care of myself. Although that’s reasoned the other way around from what you just said. However, and this might just be because I’ve only just started with this ‘round’, I can’t say that I feel better about my body because I’m trying to take better care of it. For example, when going tot he gym (which I’ve started doing this week), I spend more time noticing how much worse I look than everyone there, and how much more trouble I seem to have with doing the exercises. Even though I know that’s a pretty classic case of confirmation bias.
Now, back to the topic at hand. I didn’t so much mean that you were saying that all fat people should hate themselves implicitly, that was more of an explanation of why I do feel like it is important to show people of multiple sizes in different situations, which to my knowledge is one of the things the positivity movement is about. Think not just stuff like tv-shows, but also advertisement or even just mannequins. Not glorifying it or implying that that’s better than being of normal size, but showing that yes, these people exist, and they’re just people, like you, me, or pretty much anyone around. Because I want to avoid more people turning out as messed up as I am.
As for commenting on people’s appearance, I think whether or not that’s appropriate depends on the context. Generally speaking, I’m one of the people who thinks that if the thing isn’t a quick fix, it’s probably not worth mentioning. On the other hand, some harder-to-fix situations would be worth mentioning. If I were to have a menstruation stain for example, I’d prefer to know so I could try to find a way to cover it up.
When it comes to weight, I’m less sure. On the one hand, I think many over- (or under-)weight people know they are, so that would warrant it completely unnecessary. On the other, everyone is a little bit delusional about their looks, and there are plenty of situations where breaking that delusion is important. To use myself as an example again, I’ve lost about 10 kilos in the last 4 years (only half a year or so was actively doing anything about my weight). However, if I look inside the mirror, I still see that same fat, ugly person I see in pictures from that time. It took an outsider commenting on the changes for me to realise that there had been progress. At the same time, if I, for example, were to post a picture of me in cosplay, I’d hate for all comments to be about my weight, regardless of the exact comments. After all, the picture is about the costume, not my stomach ;)
When it comes to the “beauty at every size” thing, I wholeheartedly believe that every person, of every size, deserves to love themselves and see themselves as beautiful. However, this does not mean that other will have to agree with them, and they shouldn’t demand that they do. People are very, very much allowed to have their own preferences. However, I would want to advice them not to be a dick about it, and leave the “who would ever believe you’re beautiful, you’re a fatass ugly land whale” type comments behind, same as the “real men want curves, only dogs go for bones” type comments. But if you think so, then you think so, and I’m not gonna try and stop you from thinking it. I’ll just ask you not to say it.
And again, I do believe in realism, overweight and underweight are both unhealthy (be it now or in the future), and if at all possible, should be avoided/treated with the help of a medical professional. I just don’t think people should be made to feel like shit because of it.

I think it is the abolute ultimate achievement in the 40k Tumblr community tbh.
It might happen, if I paint my eldar and make awesome posts out of them, it will certainly help, I mean it’s not impossible at all.
You are an incredible painter sir. I’m sure he’ll notice in due time. @avalu40k
@burnigphosphor It is. Alas, some of us will never reach that goal (like me, I can’t paint worth a pence, nor am I a contributing anything useful to this lovely fandom, LOL.).
Oh, I wish! But first of all, I don't post enough, second I don't post enough 40K, and third, my painting and such are IMO nothing special... So yeah, just a dream I suppose...
But still, chasing dreams is important! :)
Against my better judgement, I’ve been thinking about starting a new project. I want to create an Imperial Knight squadron. Thirteen Imperial Knights. Why? I want to integrate the age-old Sword in the Stone/Knights of the Round Table stories into it. There is a little bit of a twist however, as Excalibur, will be Lord-Governor Arthur’s knight suit! (WOAAAHHH SO ORIGINAL) His wife will corrupt Sir Lancelot, (as per the stories), and I will magnetise Lancelot’s suit to be a regular knight and a rougue, Slaanesh-worshipping Knight! @a-40k-author, any thoughts/tips/critiques?
Haha ok I need to clarify real quick, I will not be buying them all at once, (I’m not THAT crazy) and this is gonna take a long time, maybe over a year! Also I’m lucky enough to have a hobby shop close to me that sells GW products at 20% off so Knight-Wardens are about $115 USD! I thank you guys @neshtasplace and @tw6464 and I also open this up! If you want a knight in your honor, hit me up with an arsenal and a color-scheme! King Arthur and Sir Lancelot are already decided so I need 11 more knights! @servoskull @fenris-calls @superserious40k @dont-mess-with-the-commissariat, y'all interested?
Sigh... Normally I don’t even celebrate Liberation Day all that much, though that was partially because where I lived organised very little for it, and there were no interesting people to hang out with. Now that I’m living in the next city over, and there is a festival and such... I sit in my room, taking it easy, trying to get rid of my headache, or at least try to prevent it from turning into a full-blown migraine... Because of course...
(This is Saeralyhn-mun btw, just on my personal now). I'm sorry you're so bummed out about all the changes going on. I get wanting to distance yourself, and I think it's great you're able to recognise that in yourself. I'll probably miss seeing you around, even if you'll still be reblogging some stuff. I loved seeing your fluff on my dash :) I do hope you'll feel better (in general, not just about 40k) soon. Good luck with the other things you'll be doing!
Thank you! Already with a short night sleep, I see some things a bit more clearly. I suppose there is an underlying addiction issue and a feeling of having spent 15 years knowing how a thing works and then being told “no, your experience is gonna be invalidated now, lol”Because clearly, as I stated before the differences between 3rd and 7th, are about meta and a few tweaks here and there, while this starts to feel like having to learn a completely new game to which my reaction is “hahaha, no.”
Yeah, I know that "haha no" feeling... When 7th was announced, I'd bought a second rulebook for 6th (second hand, so no chance for a refund), less than a month before the announcement. That's what led to my hiatus game-wise. I was *not* ready to admit that I'd spent 160 euros for nothing (I had the limited edition rulebook of 6th, still have).
At first I planned in just building and painting for a bit, but uni interfered with that... It was the Gathering Storm that brought me back, but I'm very happy I've been holding off on buying books other than Fracture of Biel-Tan. I'll probably buy some books between now and 8th, but it'll only be for the fluff, nothing else...
But I do see where you're coming from... It does feel like the game (as I know it, but also how others in my local GW know it) is changing a lot. There's a good bunch of them bummed out about it as well... And lore-wise too, I'm partially wondering whether or not my Craftworld would still be within the 'reasonable' corner of the lore, and with your lore being that much bigger, I assume the stress is too...
Okay, so I had a last minute change of plans for Elfia this year. Instead of a self-sown Dragon Age cosplay, I’m going to be wearing some gothic stuff I already had lying around. I have a basic idea of the clothing, but now I just have to figure out the rest…
Okay, so I had a last minute change of plans for Elfia this year. Instead of a self-sown Dragon Age cosplay, I’m going to be wearing some gothic stuff I already had lying around. I have a basic idea of the clothing, but now I just have to figure out the rest...
The bottom (mostly invisible) layers are easy, a tank top as liner, my corset, and a pair of leggings (probably black and red with lace over the red). Then is a dress, all black, lots of lace, partway down my lower legs, tight bodice, but lots of fabric in the skirt (but not designed for use with pettis or anything, so just for drama while moving I suppose). The dress already comes with a red-gemmed brooch and a couple of beaded strings from the brooch to the sides.
But then? But then...
Well, I’ll first have to account for the weather, and bring something long-sleeved to go over the dress if needed. My options are:
A black cardigan, probably with silver roses on it, and silver glitter on bits of fabric which are being criscrossed by laces. (if that makes sense)
My black-with-lace summer coat, assuming it still fits properly and doesn’t smell too much (to time to find a safe way to wash it I’m afraid... and we’re talking potential cigarette smell here)
My black woolen with faux-fur trim winter coat. Which is nice, but would hide a lot of the outfit, and is a lot of work to carry around if it is warm.
Or I’ll just go all the way, and wear my black cape, still hiding a lot, still a lot of fabric, but it would give a fantasy flair to the look. It’s ankle length, and has a lighter embroidery running along it.
Then of course, hair and makeup:
For hair, I’ll be wearing the wig I was originally planning on wearing, which is Coscraft’s Alex in Mahogany Red. But up or down? Considering the cosplay plans I still have with it, cutting it is not an option for now... I could just leave it down, considering that it’ll be one of my main points of colour, so that’d spread it out. But on the other hand would probably cause it to be quite messy when I come home. On the other hand, I could put it up, for example even in the style I had been originally planning (the picture). I had to take it out of it because it’d sagged over time, so both options are equally viable now (and would be equally time-consuming eventually).
Okay, with hair out of the way, makeup. I have this glittery, lace-inspired mask I was planning on wearing (hey, it’s the Elfia, might as well go all-out right?), But other than that? I was planning on having the red come back a bit more, maybe in the eyeshadow? With my eyes showing from underneath the mask, the idea would be to make them pop, but still fit with the overall look. For lipstick I was thinking about those lipsticks Essence had for last year’s halloween line, the ones that come with a black liner. For those that don’t know them, you’re supposed to line your lips in black, and the other side is this red colour that you put in and over the lines, creating a gradient as it dries. The end result is very dark, and most of the time I end up backing out of using it due to it being a bit too much. Other than that, I had little to no ideas at all. I’m not even sure if I should wear my foundation, since I have a feeling it doesn’t fit my skintone anymore (or at least, it didn’t when I last checked. Probably due to it being spring now, and it being late summer when I bought it (I think).) Anyway, any other ideas or tutorials are welcome. For lipstick I could also go with all black though... Because the red hair, red eyes and a red lipstick could be a bit much red all around my face...
And then of course, accessories. Now, I have a lot of stuff, and at the same time, have no clue where most of it is (ah, the joys of moving). I could keep it simple, just a necklace (or a choker maybe? I have a nice black velvet one), maybe a ring/bracelet or combination of the two. But on the one hand I’m afraid of being underdressed, on the other I’m afraid that adding too much might make me look tacky... I’m kinda tempted to go looking for a tiara, but again, I’m afraid it might be too much, especially with the mask as well. I’m probably bringing a black, embroidered hand fan, and of course a purse, because I need to keep stuff somewhere. Probably my black velvet and leatherlook one, with a cameo of a red rose on it. It’s quite frankly the best option I have...
So if there are people out there that have tips of any kind, how far should I go, where lies the barrier between well-executed event-style dress and just tacky? Any makeup tutorials that could help. Do feel welcome, so so welcome, to reblog/reply or anything of the like. I’ll read all of it, and (regardless of replies) I’ll probably end up posting an OOTD this weekend. (Also, if you happen to see me this weekend, feel free to say hi, ask for a hug/picture/whatever. I’d be more than happy to meet you all!)
Some of the stuff @neshtasplace wrote about her orruks got me thinkin’.
Orks are, to a one, sexless fungus. That we call them/they call themselves ‘boyz’ is strictly arbitrary. There’s no reason any given ork wouldn’t be as likely to pick one gender as another. There’s no reason ‘Warboss Grimtoof Elfsmasher’ can’t be a perfectly orky name for a boy, or a gal, or something else even.
If you need an excuse, though, any ork group that got its ass kicked by an army that was led by or predominantly composed of women could easily start calling themselves galz.
They would still look like orks, as the already low humanoid dimorphism is even lower when you’re talking about people in armor. So no orks with boobs (or even ‘boobz’). Depending on the society, I could see the orks deciding that ‘galz’ have long/braided hair or some other arbitrary tertiary characteristic. So they’d start growing a bit of head hair, since orks run on magical thinking and solipsism.
Some possibilities:
Orks who got their asses kicked by howling banshees decide:
Galz have long, flowing, wild hair
LOUD WUNZ RUN FASTA
Orks who got their asses kicked by sylvaneth decide:
Galz have leaves on ‘em
Galz wear lotsa bark for armor
Orks who got their asses kicked by wyches decide:
Galz don’t need armor, galz need knifes
So many knifes
Orks who got their asses kicked by sisters of battle decide:
Galz is ded ‘ard: armor up
Burnas!
Faith? OH! ‘Umie solipsism, I gets it. “FOR DA GORK! (Or possibly Mork)”
Actually this reminds me of a bit I saw on Warseer back in the day:
“ Striking Scorpions are more orky than orks.
they'z green (this is propa)
they’ve got choppas that are choppier (always +1 str)
they’ve got sluggas that are shootier (better ap)
dem aspekt boyz got choppy in one hand n’ dakka in the other, but decided that wasn’t enough dakka so they put dakka on their face n’ deyz use this dakka when they gets choppy.
DA skorpion boss can take a power klaw or an ‘uge choppa (that’s choppier than what orkses got, can get more than +2 strength), or a pair of super extra choppy choppas.
and since DA scorpion boss is da boss, he’s got his dead choppy power klaw, but thought “iz gotta be shootier too”, and stuck a bit of dakka on.
and their dakka? It shoots choppy disks!
Dakka while choppy, choppy shooty dakka, comprehending this would make an ork’s mind implode. Eldar shootas don’t got range like a propa ork shoota though, so that’s an arguable deficiency compared to orks.
brutally kunnin, they’re real slippery and sneaky like
kunningly brutal, they do this all in dead ‘ard 'eavy armor.
sneakin in 'eavy armor. everybody else is like “we'z gotta strip down to be slippery like”. Beakies do this, umies do this, even orkses do this, but Eldar’s all like “ You'z all stupid, dats why youz monkeys. Iz putting on 'eavier armor, iz gonna stomp through the jungle all sneaky like and chainsaw you stealthy like cuz Eldar’s da best like dat. And if youz looks at me funny, dakka comes outta my face”
and the Skorpion Big Boss travels around the galaxy lookin’ to scrap, with his extra shooty dakka face that’s twice as shooty which makes him 33% choppier, and he’s got extra 'eavy armor but it’s extra flashy so he can run in it and be even more kunnin’ and sneaky.”
Urgh... Haven't slept yet and it's 5:25am by now... I *was* planning to get up at 9 this morning, but now I'm not sure if I shouldn't just start the day already... If it weren't for the fact that I'll be out all day (well, until 9ish pm probably), so I can't sleep when I inevitably crash I would...
Managed to keep my first one alive for 150 days! Now it’s doing to die though, since I should get to bed... Goodbye Abandoned Mother Superior, I am sorry to have abandoned you as well!
(Also, I have half a feeling these names are tags or something taken completely out of context)
