suddenly, august understood why his  … “friends” disliked the bat man’s son so much. now that he was on the receiving end of the other’s look of disgust, paired with the waves of distaste that were just screaming from his mind. august only dared to go deep enough to learn his name: yari. he felt a warped sense of justice, suddenly wanting revenge for the way yari looked down on him and those who had adopted him at the strange school. the bat man’s son practically begged to have august digging further in his head. he didn’t, though. august had long since learned that the temptation of seeing someone else’s mind was what began the spiral his father had fallen down. he wasn’t stable himself, but he was in control, and that distinction mattered. he pursed his lips, raising his hand to silently wave. “do you have a problem?” he asked quietly, raising his eyebrows with his arms crossed over his chest.

“You’re standing awfully close,” Yari spoke simply, coldly. He didn’t care to strike up a conversation with the other male. The only thing he knew was that this kid was bad news, and Yari had no intention of getting himself into a situation he wasn’t in control of again. He was already in the midst of a slow spiral, something that had been going since the attack on the school earlier in the year. He didn’t need some Gotham Punk making his life any more frustrating than necessary.

his gaze, normally trained down at a book in front of him, was caught by the small, blonde male walking past his table. august had seen him around, usually skirting wide circles around the group of arkham’s descendants that had decided to adopt him when he first arrived. it made sense, seeing as his father was one of the asylum residents, even if august was less than inviting. they’d whispered about the other when they passed, even going so far as to call taunts. he could only assume yari, he believed, was one of the bat man’s sons. he stood up and followed the blonde into the line for coffee, gazing at him from behind.

Yari avoided people for the most part regardless, but he was an utter menace without coffee. Considering this was only his third cup of the day, he was still relatively grumpy. He had vaguely noticed the sort of shadow of a person that followed him, but didn’t pay too much attention to it. If it was anyone who knew him personally, they’d know better than to attempt to talk to him before he’d ordered. Either that, or they’d have already jumped onto his back like a spidermonkey. Seeing as the stranger had done neither, Yari only gave him a slight backwards glance, recognizing him as one of the Gotham kids that Quin once was a part of. The elder male wrinkled his nose in distaste, not bothering to hide it as he turned back to the counter.

          she knew right off the bat that he wouldn’t be easy to read, but then again most students that she met were like that. either they were too expressive or not at all. will never minded it though. to each there own and all that jazz. looking up from the screen in front of her, will kept her expression soft and waited for him to finish speaking. ❝ of course, if that’s what you want i won’t hold back. what’s on your mind? ❞

He stepped in fully and sat down, fingers tapping on the nearly-empty coffee cup in his hand. His expression was fluttering between aloof and nervous, his lips pursed as he sat back and sighed. “You don’t know me, so, I guess this is an easy question.” he glanced up and stared hard at her for a moment. “Do you think I look pathetic? Stand-offish?” He was quiet for another minute, sitting up more fully. “Nevermind, actually. Do you think I look gay?”

          a guidance counselor at a school full of the children of heroes and villains was a safe job, or that’s what she had used to convince her father to let her go. someone had to keep an eye on some of these kids, ( even a few of the adults now that she was thinking about it. ) it’s not the most exciting of jobs though, so when she heard a knock on her door, will jumped at the chance to do something other than reorganize her office. ❝ come on in. i know it’s quiet, but i promise i’m in here.❞

He’s been going to therapy for over ten years, and yet Yari is nervous to talk to a simple guidance counselor. More than anything, he’s just embarrassed. Still, it seems like his only option, or at least the best option. He doesn’t want to push this newfound problem onto his handful of friends–no matter how much he knows they’d be supportive. Perhaps he doesn’t need supportive so much as a swift kick in the ass. “Oh, good,” he mutters, carefully stepping inside the office. He looks around for a moment before carefully closing the door, his expression unreadable. “I thought I could come to you for an,” he paused for a moment, thinking about his words, “unbiased opinion.”
