Okay I JUST realized I never posted these on here—- BUT BASICALLY, about a year and a half ago I started doing these experimental black hairstyle posts that were threads long on Twitter, to give artists a source of inspo for their black ocs whose hair they wanted to try something new with! There’s more to black hair than just the selected styles portrayed in media, and I thought it would be fun to show people how much texture, shape, fades, length, and style can be combined when drawing black hair—-cause it’s a kind of manipulation our hair can do irl! The OG thread from when I made these a year ago were lost with the hacking of my original Twitter account (@/bagels_donuts) but I’ve since reuploaded the whole thread to my new Twitter (@/ItsDonutsFR)! Pōkami Au versions of the multiple brush gods of Okami!
Why some have more than red and white and why others do not? Simply because they didn't look right with just the two colours, and the ones with more colour fit better really it's fiiiiiiiiiiiine XD
No rhyme or reason why I chose who to be the brush gods except they are similar enough to their counterparts to work. Like Emboar for Bakugami, he was pig enough to count along with his lil tepigs, and for Sakigami of the Hanagami trio, Simisear is fire type despite the trio is supposed to be for grass type abilities, but monkey trio is all I had that worked great so here he is~
Tachigami, ratattas are cut slaves, and who's no better to wield powerslash than the route 1 rat? Rayquaza and Milotic were just the right shapes to be close to the OG brush gods so thats why they're there, Milotic more than Quaza being a water type

Round 2 of the 13 fellas lets gooooo!!! Decided to get these guys up next because they were the next easiest to come to mind and I had insane hyperfocus to finish them.... all 3 in one afternoon lol XD
Kabegami was by far the easiest brush god to turn into a pokemon, its essentially shiny litten!! Heavily debated posting their image properly but like, this ways more fun, shows off catwalk perfectly! The Vase is meant to look like the Nameless mans final work of pottery, the pure neck vase, and within is a cattail plant!
Kazegami I flip flopped between a ponyta and a rapidash, but rapidash works just fine, I just wasn't sure if I could make the swirly brush mane look long like rapidashs firey mane well enough but I'm okay with what I got in the end~
Yumigami, there aren't enough actual bunny/rabbit pokemon that conform to an actual rabbit like shape, so it was a toss up between scorbunny and a buneary. In the end scorbunny won because he looked the best holding the mallet, and I could make the wispys on him better than on a buneary. Plus when the idea struck that the lil yellow cheese slice squares on scorbunny could become halfmoons thats when I was set to make him Yumigami! Yumigami doesn't get the normal brush realm background because I said so, he looks cool with his night sky XD
The next 5 should come in a lil while when I can get the right pokemon to fit them so get ready for when they crop up!! :D

Nearly done and these were some of the hardest ones yet!! Compared to the rest of them I've done, these guys I went a bit more out on because they have effects ooOoooOoOoooo XD
Gekigami I did twice, I did the first version all the way and everything and then I stared at it the next day and it bothered me like crazy, so I redid him and got this version instead! Between his pose and the attempted foreshortening of his bow, Gekigami was the second longest brush god I worked on giving me like 2 weeks on and off
Out of the 4 here, Itegami has to be my favourite one overall, his pose came out super clean and he just makes me happy looking at him! Hindsight I should have added sum snow falling in his picture but meh XD
Kasugami, drunk sheep of mist, there are not many sheep pokemon that would work with him and I didn't wanna do that to poor lil mareep. Least when dubwool topples over from a long night of drinking, hes so fluffy he wont even notice!
And finally, Moegami, HE TOOK LIKE 4 WEEKS ON AND OFF BECAUSE HE DIDN'T WANT TO COOPERATE WITH POSING AT ALLLLLLLL!!! His whole everything took forever, between making his wings look okay to his tail giving me grief and even his lil head plumes, Moegami did not wanna play nice, so I'm just happy he's done and over with. Let it be known I adore Ho-oh he's one of my absolute fave legendaries alongside Lugia XD
Only one left to go and I wanna do her justice!! Amaterasu will come in time and she'll be the final brush god of the group! expect that eventually~~

I FINALLY GOT AROUND TO DOING THESE TWO AT LASTTTTTTT!!!! The last of the brush gods realizeddddd~!!!!! While not much has changed, if any at all about Amaterasu's initial design when I first began this thought, Shiranui's was the one that needed some tweaking around from their first design. Thank lort for references, I forgot how detailed Shiranui's markings were and how much more the red is accented in their tufties and face (mind you you can't see the full face here). That and incorporating Hisuian Zoroarks design to blend in with Shiranui's was interesting, I'm very proud of the way I got the mane to turn out and adding in some of those faint white markings zoroark has and making them grey instead was a nice lil' touch I thought up last minute.
The reason why Amaterasu's design is Unovans is because as the reincarnation of Shiranui, they're not as strong as they used to be, so their designs more constrained and the bead keeping the crazy mane back feels fitting for not having all your power back after 100 years. Meanwhile Hisuian Shiranui, c'mon how cool does THAT look man, wispy mystical godly ouppie with unimaginable powers! Something something past was powerful and things something something the old gods died thing ect. ect. Perfection XD
Their lil' mirrors aren't accurate I know, and the fact they're both super tiny and one became essentially a bead in the end for Ammy's, If I made them bigger and had Ammy's float on their back like normal they'd look weird for both of them, and there designs are still up to change but for now, Ammy's is a bead like Unovan Zoroarks and Shiranui's is a very tiny Solar Flare mirror but still puts out the really pretty fire is makes!
Anyways yeah! All 13 brush gods have their designs now and I'm very very proud of myself for doing them all up~! Next up that's still very much in the works is the people and demon designs of Pōkami, but many are further along in finality than others so hopefully next time I get the spurt of energy needed to do some, I'll be able to share some coloured pictures of some folks and monsters~!
