emineyalazâ:
Emine had never been to sure of Azra, especially when it came to her relationship towards Kerem. It wasnât that she didnât trust him, because she did, she trusted Kerem with her life but when it came to Azra she wasnât all that sure where her feeling lie or her motivation to have formed such a close friendship with the man she loved.Â
Kerem had been away for the past couple weeks, Emine had been the one to return from their vacation early whilst he tied up some loose business ends. They had been the lucky ones, not having to deal or run for their life when it came to the New Years blow out.Â
For Keremâs sake she had always placed nice and today would be no exception.Â
âYeah youâre right. If it was one if us that died that night do you really think that our names would be splattered all over the papers and magazines?â She questioned, thinking to herself it was about time that they where the ones to receive the full attention of their follow Londoners. âAnyway, from what I heard there where many, many other casualties. I bet no one can name them, and Iâm sure they where more innocent than the ones that weâre hearing about all the time.â
âYou and I both know that it would not have been mentioned at all. Nevertheless a front page or any headline at all.â To someone else it sounded harsh, but it was the truth. Sheâd seen it happen multiple times in the past and she didnât see any trajectory towards change into another direction. Where they were from, people died all the time and yet it was never mentioned. Both of her parents died and neither of them had been mentioned anywhere. For anyone outside of their family, their deaths didnât change anything, they didnât matter. It was clear who the papers thought was important, who the public would care about. Azra however didnât put those people on a pedestal.Â
âIsnât it always like this? In tragedies like this, only a few names are remembered and the innocent ones get forgotten.â Sheâd read about an incident in the US recently, it mentioned about a dozen casualties, none of them by name. When she died, would she be remembered? Would her name be? Or would only the people that knew her have a recollection of her?Â
