But the thing is, hon (and now I’m speaking directly here to the small percentage of people that are pulling this shit, because unlike certain folks on tumblr, I actually understand that the entire fandom is NOT to blame for a few bad apples):
You guys chased a writer off of tumblr over something he didn’t even write.
You constantly harass artists and cosplayers if they don’t draw or cosplay according to what YOU deem is “acceptable” (do I really have to search for links for this? Because you know damn well you’ve seen it too, such as the girl being told that she couldn’t cosplay Amethyst because she was white, even though Amethyst is FUCKING PURPLE). NO CREATIVITY OR IMAGINATION ALLOWED, GUYS. IT’S LITERALLY A HATE CRIME TO THINK OF ALTERNATE POSSIBILITIES.
You guys were leaving hate in the Uncle Grandpa tag since the show first fuckin’ started, and when the crossover was announced, there were HUNDREDS of hate posts in the tag (as much as I hate to link anyone to Bogleech, they actually have a point here). No fandom should have to wade through others’ hate when they go to look for nice posts to reblog of a show they enjoy, no matter how much you don’t personally care for it. If this was happening in your tag, you’d be having a fucking aneurism.
You threw a HUGE fucking hissy fit when people you didn’t personally approve of were going to graciously create a site for your fandom that would have included places to post fanfiction, forums, etc. You had this ridiculous notion that your fandom was going to be “tainted”, even though these people had already been there, watching it, the entire time, and YOU DIDN’T EVEN FUCKING NOTICE. It got so bad that people dubbed your reactions as the “Baby Wars”.
You try to force your headcanons on EVERYONE, not realizing WHY they are called “headcanons”. FANDOM IS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT EACH AND EVERY INDIVIDUAL FAN COMING TOGETHER TO SHARE THEIR IDEAS. Rebecca Sugar herself even said “Ship everyone with everyone else”. It’s not a place for you to fucking play “moral police” and call people “transphobic” or “homophobic” simply because THEY DON’T SHARE YOUR HEADCANON. Nor do characters need to be “protected”, or that anyone needs to “stop” drawing anything they enjoy (including adult content) just because YOU don’t like it. Seriously. This shit has to fucking stop, and not just in the SU fandom.
YOU FUCKING LEFT BAD REVIEWS ON THE SITE FOR A REAL-LIFE MOTEL BECAUSE IT HAS THE SAME NAME AS ONE FROM THE SHOW. You thought it was okay to–as a “joke”–ruin someone’s business. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU??
Are you seriously fucking calling people “pedophiles” because of what cartoon they watch, or what they ship? When did a bunch of lines and circles start resembling actual human beings? Because honey, if you want to get into the whole “pedophile” crap, I know a good number of you that have anime ships of characters that aren’t exactly of age. And a lot of you DRAW this shit, too. Let’s not pretend there aren’t fangirls drawing the kid from Big Hero 6 fucking his older brother. Fuck your moral high horse. You’re just as perverted as everyone else.
It isn’t because any of you are women or lgbt. It’s because you’re such snide, entitled little pieces of shit that seem to think the world owes you everything on a silver platter, and who HORRIBLY misrepresent your causes. It’s not your identity: It’s YOUR BEHAVIOR.
So, yes: Certain members of your fandom are NOT doing it any favors. And you actually did do things to bring that about. You pulled shit that not only embarrassed the fuck out of others in your fan base, but you have CAUSED others to look down on it. This is not due to normal fandom behavior. This is due to taking it WAAAAAAAY TOO FUCKING FAR.
