sigh no more, ladies, sigh no more. men were deceivers ever, one foot in sea, and one on shore, to one thing constant never. then sigh not so, but let them go, and be you blithe and bonny, converting all your sounds of woe into hey nonny, nonny.

Julie Andrews, STAR! 1968
Olivia Colman, the triple Bafta-winning star of hit TV series Broadchurch and The Night Manager, enjoyed not simply her first ever day at Royal Ascot but her first experience of horseracing on a rare day off in a busy work schedule. And the good news is that she loved it, so might well be back.
Colman, who will shortly be starring in Mosquitoes, a new play at the National Theatre, was a guest of Royal Ascot and enjoyed a very good lunch before picking the best turned out for the Chesham and presenting the trophies.
“Everything is so perfect here and I’m having a lovely time, but the horses are much smaller than I expected,” Olivia said.
“You’ve got a cold-blooded predator in your town” “This isn’t a community, it’s a bunch of people drawn together by lies” ”The monster isn’t down there, it’s up here -scratching to get out”

WhatsOnStage have been given an exclusive first look at rehearsals for the National Theatre’s upcoming production of Mosquitoes.
Lucy Kirkwood’s play is about a particle scientist at CERN and her sister who lives in Luton, played by Olivia Williams and Olivia Colman.
It’s directed by Rufus Norris and also features Yoli Fuller, Sofia Barclay, Amanda Boxer, Paul Hilton and Vanessa Emme.
Tickets for the production are sold out, but they are still available through the National’s Friday Rush scheme. Click here for more information.
Mosquitoes runs at the National Theatre from 25 July to 28 September, with previews from 18 July.

Things have changed a lot for the gay and lesbian community since the 1970s. Can you explain the circumstances in which you rejected a Time magazine cover in 1975? ”They wanted to do a story about gay issues and they wanted a gay person on the cover. My publicist called me (with the offer), but I was kind of insulted. I also don’t think I would have had the courage to do it just for that purpose. If I was going to be on the cover I wanted it to be as a performer not simply to trade my life for that cover. I never did not come out, but I wanted to be acknowledged for my work.” - Lily Tomlin
