“That’s what i was looking for: adrenaline.” She said, confirming with a nod. Kate laughed softly at her retort. “Focused, that’s a good word for it. You’re just always kinda in the zone, yeah?”
She chuckled, but just for a second. Her hands moved to her hips, resting there. “It is better to be ‘in the zone’,” Yelena spoke, emphasizing the phrase with air quotes, “than dead. Being focused keeps you aware of everything around you.”

As she waited for her drink, she quickly noticed there were eyes on her in the Starbucks. Familiar eyes, she noticed as she received her coffee from the barista. Why was he here? From her observations, she did not take him to be the coffee type. She had not received any texts. Then again, she had not said anything about coming into the city. “I was not expecting to see you here,” she spoke, turning around to walk towards his table.

“I don’t think it clouds mine.” Kate countered. “I feel more alert, my senses feel heightened.” She felt more hyperaware when she was angry, which seemed counterintuitive. “Besides, aren’t you angry, like, all the time? And you still fight well.
“I suppose that could be the adrenaline from the moment,” Yelena retorted, her hands slipping into her pockets. “No, no. What a strange impression. I am not angry all the time, just focused.”

I’m a better shot when I’m pissed off.
“Oh?” Yelena questioned, her brows slightly furrowed at her statement. Yelena then, casually took a drink from her coffee. She placed the cup down, rolling her shoulders slightly as she spoke next. “It could also cloud judgement. Could it not, Kate Bishop?” She believed so, at least.
