i headcanon that callie sadecki was named in honor of wilderness baby. this begged the question: what is wilderness baby's name?

we know that shauna believed he was a boy (due to lottie's premonition, butcherqueen for life), so I'm ruling out any women's names. i could take you down a whole long road about name meanings and things i considered, but i don't feel like it, so here's my final (but not certain) take:

i think wilderness baby would be named calvin (and that's how i'll refer to him for the rest of this post). obviously because theyre phonetically similar, but looking into the name meaning, i found this quote;

"Yet Calvin possesses much more than surface-level features. A bare crown can signal a spiritual rebirth or a shedding of the old for the welcoming of the new. It's a fitting homage to the famed reformer and humanist lawyer John Calvin, known for his controversial break from the Catholic Church. So if you have a budding non-conformist on your hands or an openness to defying the status-quo, Calvin may be the right way to go."

the spiritual rebirth is very apt to their experience on the island; in a way, calvin prompted a spiritual rebirth despite his death. time and time again, shauna proves herself to be a nonconformist, especially as she adjusts to life in the wilderness. calvin was conceived out of rebellion; both shauna's retaliation towards being in jackie's shadow, and a manifestion of shauna's internalized homophobia and feelings for jackie. i could sort of see a connection between her interest in saints and john calvin, but he was never a saint, just a prominent figure in christianity. i also think it's plausible that he could be named after a grandfather. the name calvin peaked in popularity in the 1920s. assuming i did the math right (which is not a guarantee), if shauna and her mother were born when their parents were 25, that would put her grandfather's birth year in the 1920s.

she loses calvin, but gets callie, and the namesake still works. i really hope we eventually learn what she named him, but i think i'm onto something here.
