Ahhh I’m a day late but happy birthday Albedo I wrote you as a horrendous human being in your honor
This was based on the creator!reader concept an anon sent back in like January, this isn’t exactly a Rhinedottir!reader, as reader is still addressed with (y/n), but I tried to give her a similar personality (so like harsh and cold), and there are references to specific parts of Albedo’s story/lines about his master, so it is essentially a Rhinedottir!reader without the name.
As the master alchemist who created the homunculus Albedo and taught him everything he knows, you disappeared and sent him to Mondstadt with the instructions: “Your final assignment: show me the truth and the meaning of this world.”
In reality, you were sick of his rather odd behaviors, and simply wanted to be rid of him. So you gave him a task he could never complete.
He was bound to figure that out eventually, and you were inevitably destined to cross paths again.
Warnings: fem reader, canon divergence, yandere/abduction, noncon/rape, choking, cervix pain, painless permanent mutilation that later has resulting pain, saliva, blood, brief paralysis, implied impending severe pain at the end, Albedo being a petulant cruel bastard
Verschlimmbessern - to attempt to fix something, but end up only making it worse.
You had a lot of fond memories of Mondstadt. Famous for wines and winds, pleasant in both climate and people, courteous and spirited, enamored with their concept of freedom and the patron archon they believed granted it to them. It was a place you were always eager to visit whenever needed, unlike some other civilizations you might have dreaded to have to make a trek to, for whatever reason – rude people, weather too hot or too cold, dangerous topography, things of that nature. No, it was really a blessing to have to visit the land of wind for the occasional rare ingredient or meeting with some specific person.
And you had plenty of old acquaintances there, but it had been a very, very long time. Meetings with people you hadn’t seen in an exceptionally long time were always pretty awkward – there was always so much that had happened in both lives and so many changes each person went through, and so little time to talk for someone always on the move, as you were these days. Some people didn’t change, though. There were always those figures that seemed to remain the same person, no matter what length of time had passed. Stuck in their ways and habits, maintaining the same personality, for better or for worse. Both types could be found as much in Mondstadt as anywhere else.
You took a deep breath before walking through the gates, smiling at guards and random passersby who were so friendly to such a stranger like yourself in a way you’d found characteristic of many from this nation. So welcoming, even to someone who seemed to not fit in. You hoped they treated any new person with such friendliness.
You walked through busy streets, past people dining outside or standing by vendors, who kindly acknowledged you with smiles and other small gestures as you made a beeline for your destination. It was a pleasant city. Safe, peaceful, prosperous.
It was a shame you couldn’t exactly enjoy it the way you might once have in times long past.
Your felt a shakiness in your limbs, balance wavering as you walked, sounds of city life sounding miles away, drowned out by a ringing in your ears and the feeling of your pulse cycling through your body. Eyes frantically flickering back and forth, rapidly taking in everyone and everything around you, ready to quickly make an exit if needed.
It will all be fine. A rather simplistic and empty mantra, really, but it kept you sane throughout plenty of life’s most panicked moments. It’ll be fine, it’ll be fine, it’ll be fine. You repeated the mantra in your head as you walked all the way down the stone streets, tuning out the bustle of crowds and making your way to the church, where you sought out the reason you’d come, quickly finding yourself in conversation.
You tried to be courteous, but couldn’t help that a little bit of disappointment was undoubtedly evident in your voice.
