Okay, but what’s it SAY?
This is ignoring all the intricate political and tragic plots that actually lead up to this series of events.Â
(To assist with my unruly handwriting, the text is written out below) Panel 1- Ion (Out of view): Your majesty, will you please stop sulking and come get dressed? Panel 2- Gen: Do you realise, Ion, that all my friends are taller than me now?         Ion (OOV): Your maj- Panel 3- Gen: No, seriously, y’know SOPHOS used to be shorter than me? And now he’s a damned tree! Then there’s Costis, Aris, Teleus-        Ion (OOV): (is teleus really your friend tho?) Panel 4- Gen: All of you peacocks are taller, even Helen and Heiro! The last time I had a friend my height was - was… Get Costis. Panel 5- Costis: You want me to kidnap you a short friend.        Gen (OOV): Yeh. But say it’s revenge. Make a hand pun. Be cool.Â
Panel 6 - A lot of walking and awkward flirting later Panel 7- Gen: Yes! He’s shorter than I remembered!        Kamet: Oh Gods, it’s YOU        Costis: Do you mind if Kamet and I go get married now?Â
Here’s my DUMB ARTÂ
I LAUGHED SO FUDGING HARD AT THIS OMW
“Be cool.”
I don’t think Costis has ever been cool in his LIFE.  Even at his coolest, he’s still a big flaming nerdlock.  That might be my favorite part of this whole comic.  “Be cool.”
My OAO got me a new copy when we couldn’t find the first volume of the old set. You may be sensing a theme here.  The library is in disarray.
AHA!  THIS is the one I’ve been meaning to read!
I took a class in college on Writing Poetry with Elinor Wilner.  Wilner’s “writing” class involved ten times as much reading and I still have every mimeographed poem that she handed out. Like my copy of Beowulf, I probably can’t find them, but I know they are somewhere upstairs.Â
Other writing teachers assigned quatrains or sestinas. Wilner said, “Read these poems by twenty different poets all of them focusing on animals and then write any kind of poem you want that shows me an animal.”Â
Wilner’s poetry has stayed with me, there at the back of my head for thirty years. Shekhinah, in a sense, the mother of Hephestia as well as Eddis and Attolia.
Ooooh...

Oh no, this isn’t exciting at all, pfft, why would I get worked up?
(fuck now I have to make a new one...)
This is an embroidered map of the universe created by Megan Whalen Turner, as part of her Queen’s Thief series.
Though the embroidery is mine, the sketch comes from the venerable Sounis community on LJ.  If I’d been willing to put Methana on the map, the Thief marking the halfway point would have been there.
Alas, my fingers and wrists got really, really tired.  Do you know how many french knots there are in the olive groves? I don’t.
Made with love for my friend, who introduced me to the series (well, told me that the Thief wasn’t a standalone) and whose love for the series is like a plant’s love for the sun.
