Serial killer!Chandler Manning x Profiler!Reader who caught him.
Setting??? Interrogation room. Your team has finally caught the serial killer in your town. Who was none other than one of the detectives investigating the case, Chandler Manning. You, the reader, was not a stranger to the case because you were actively helping them to understand and get a profile of the killer terrorising your town -- the killer who had always sat there and watched you profile him sooooo accurately.
Now. He's caught. You're interrogating him. He's very smug and very proud of you for catching him and making the best profile he could ever hear of himself.
...........and Chandler has the hanahaki disease -- the deadly disease where the person cough up bloody flower petals over unrequited love.
So... much to everyone's horror, including him, he started coughing up blood and petals right in front of you. And oh boy did he realize who caused the disease. And oh boy did he love the implications of it. And oh boy did he already know how to terrorise you about it.
Via the hanahaki lore: He can only be cured by either: (1) the unrequited love was requited, (2) surgery -- which means he will forget every single thing/memory he had of his love, or (3) death, he succumbs to the disease.
What are you, Reader, gonna do with this very scary and cold blooded serial killer then????

The look Sam gave you was absolutely heartbreaking. His big doe eyes widened the moment he realized where you’d brought him. For a second he simply stared through the windshield, frozen. Seeing people he most definitely do not want to see.
His face crumpled in disbelief, turning to face you. "What –” His voice broke. ”I told you -!"
He had. He did tell you not to bring him back to The Boroughs. And you did exactly just that. Here you were, parked right outside The Manor.
Of course, why wouldn't you? You were his nurse – well, still is. But the point is: you had been there from the very beginning, who stuck with him from the very first day he set foot in here carrying grief like a second skin. You’d helped him settle in. Patiently knocking on his door every single day with a bright smile on your face and genuine care for him while he scowled and slammed the door to your face. Still, you made sure he was eating, sleeping, taking his medication, and making sure he wasn’t drowning after losing his wife.
Oh, you knew yes. It was in his files and you had also met his very worried daughter. You got out of your way to assure her you will take care of her father whom you could see she loved so much. That this move to The Boroughs was quite abrupt – at least, quicker than planned. That she lost her mother and he lost his wife so unexpectedly.
You smiled and assured her you will do your bestest.
Sure you were definitely challenged by the sheer grumpiness the man is wielding. But you love challenges anyway. At least, that’s what you told yourself at first.
Then one thing led to another. You stopped being just his nurse and you let things happen. How could you not?
Sam was intelligent. Funny when he forgot to be a miserable curmudgeon. Handsome when he smiled instead of frowning at the whole world. You noticed how he always parted his hair on the side, how he always styled it, that he seems to put actual effort in looking good and presentable. Then you learned that beneath all that stubbornness was a man who was deeply caring and who loved fiercely.
And so when he finally let you see that side of him, that warm side – when he finally lets down his guard on you – you were entirely helpless against it.
The first kiss was definitely a mistake. The second had not. After that, neither of you bothered pretending anymore.
How could you pretend otherwise when he grabbed you that night like a man drowning and you were air? When he bit you like he's making a claim? When he called your name like it was the only thing that makes sense to him? When he left his hot kisses all over your body that you could only squirm and hold onto his shoulders?
He had you so well you genuinely thought you were made for him alone. You learned the sound of his laugh – deep and reverberating. You learned the shape of his big calloused hands – rough and yet gentle. You learned how warm he was when he slept. And every morning yo woke up beside him, your head on his chest and listening to his ridiculous chainsaw snore – you told yourself you’d do this every single day. The world has stopped to matter. Only you and Sam.
Then...then one day…something changed. He had...pulled away, then he shut you out.
At first, it was small things. Missed calls – and you think perhaps he was doing something. Then excuses came and you convinced yourself it was nothing. You were always left in voicemails that never were called back ever again.The doors started to open only a crack before being shut again.
Then came the silence. Whenever you visited and if luck was on your side and he didn’t shut the door to your face – he barely looked at you. Whenever you asked what was wrong, he brushed you off and waved everything off.
He was always thinking about something. Always building something. Always tinkering with something nobody else seemed to understand. Honestly, it was fine. He had something to do when The Boroughs could be very boring for the residents.
You told yourself he needed space…and you are more than happy to give that because what else is there to give?
Then one night, your phone rang. Its soft ringtone and gentle vibrations through your bedside table roused you from your sleep. Three in the morning? Sam was calling you at this ungodly hour of the night?
Your stomach dropped the moment you answered. He was rambling and he sounded terrified — not angry nor irritation nor stubborn. He was terrified. It was so unlike him to hear him in that poor state. His voice trembled as he spoke lowly to his phone. .
You were worried, naturally so. You asked him what happened and your heart sunk hearing him so incoherent and not making any ounce of sense. Told you he had walked the desert the whole night. That he was cureently in a diner taking refuge. That he needed you. That he would wait for you. That he wants you to come get him. That he wants you to come with him. Or rather – he wants to be with you. Bring him anywhere, anywhere else but not The Boroughs. He said there were monsters. Monsters that are eating him slowly every single night.
You remembered sitting upright in bed, sleepiness gone, just blinking into the darkness. Now you're blinking. Asking him what monsters and he swore he will tell you everything when you come get him.
“Sam, what monsters?”
“I’ll explain when you get here.” The words rushed out of him.
“Sam –”
"Please." He begged through the phone. You had never heard him beg before. "Please, take me, Y/N. I need you. Please."
Since it was Sam who called you, you wasted no time coming to him. Of course you did.
By then, Blaine Shaw – technically your boss – had already pulled you aside more than once to personally ask you how Sam Cooper was doing. He was your patient after all. Sam had shut you out one too many times by then and you racked your brain for everything possible to answer what has happened between the two of you…or better – what has been happening to him. And you are a nurse, you knew what happens to patients going through grief, loneliness and isolation. It was extremely possible it was affecting him badly. Too badly that whatever connection he had with you is something he could just...set aside at the very least, or throw away at the very worst.
You hadn’t known what exactly to tell Blaine. Only that Sam wasn’t doing well. Only that he seemed to be slipping further away every day. Only that his family needs to be contacted for whatever steps they are all going to take.
And oh the horror you felt when Blaine told you everything. Sam breaking into the morgue to say "goodbye" to his friend though his goodbye was a bit unconventional. Sam talking about some owls, and consequently harassing one resident in The Manor. And the worst of it all? The monsters he was babbling about, the monsters lurking in the dark.
You and Blaine had reached the same conclusion even if neither of you wanted to say it out loud. His daughter needs to be contacted because Sam needed help. Professional help. And no matter how desperately you wanted to believe otherwise, you just couldn’t ignore what was happening anymore.
You firmly believed it. Sam can't be in The Manor. He's not like those residents there. He is smart and capable. He cannot lose his sanity, right? That's impossible and a part of you clung stubbornly to that hope.
And then now – now, he called you in the middle of the night to beg you, to come get him because he'd been in the desert for hours. For hours!
So you drove your car to the diner he was talking about. True enough, you found him exactly where he’d said he’d be. The first you saw of him was his back. He looked so small – smaller than you’d ever seen him, hunched over the counter, and your chest tightened at the sight.
“Sam.”
He almost flinched at the sound of his own name. And he spun from his seat. His whole body bracing for…what? Impact? You're not sure. The fear vanished the second he saw you, his face softening so quickly upon realising it was just you.
“Y/N.” He was on his feet immediately. He grabbed you by your arms and pulled you into a desperate embrace. "You came -- you came. Thank you. Thank you -- please. Take me away." He nuzzled his face at the crook of your neck. His shoulders shook as he took mouthfuls of breath.
You held him just as tightly and for a moment you simply let him cling to you. When you finally pulled back, your heart nearly broke. You grabbed his face to your hands and took him in. He was disheveled. Eyes wide, glassy, and bloodshot behind his glasses. There was dirt smeared across his forehead you wiped off the dirt on his forehead and he leaned onto your touch almost instantly.
“Sam, what happened?” Because you are afraid he has completely lost his mind.
“A flicker of panic crossed his face. “Not now, Y/N.” He said urgently, his eyes darting toward the windows. “We need to leave. You have your car, yes?”
You blinked and was prepared to argue more but he was already pulling you with him, outside the diner.
“Sam –” You tried again. “Sam, what is –”
And you merely sighed because you know that look. The conversation was over and he was set.
“Please…” He whispered, squeezing your hand as he settled in the passenger's seat. “I don't want to go back there. Y/N, promise me. You won't take me back there.”
“I won't.” You answered quietly. And it pained you to lie to him straight to his face. And it pained you how he relaxed so immediately after that.
“I–I haven't slept in hours, Y/N.” He whispered, “I need to sleep.”
“Yeah, okay. Go to sleep.” You said, eyes on the road. Hand squeezing his once.
And he fell asleep almost immediately. Trusted yo enough to do exactly that.
And now, you pulled to a stop right in front of The Manor. Sam was still asleep. Head pressed to the window. He looked so stressed out, so out of it – you cannot imagine what he has been going through and how he survived keeping them all in. Bitterly, you thought, he kept them all inside him and…and it made him snap.
You watched him for a long moment. You thought about every door he'd shut in your face. Every missed call. Every impossible story. Every frightened word he'd spoken that night.
He needed help – didn't he? Wasn't that what this was? Helping him? Yet the thought felt so hollow and you still wanted to believe you're doing the right thing leaving him here.
Eventually, he stirred. His eyes blinked open, the sun way too bright. You tried not to cry when he quickly realized where you brought him. The look he gave you with his big eyes felt like a knife between your ribs.
“Y/N.” He whispered. Just your name in that soft disbelieving voice.
“Sam –”
He stared at the building. At the nurses waiting near the entrance with Blaine. At the lie you'd told him.
Then he looked back at you. And somehow that hurt more. A sad small smile touched his lips.
He smiled. And tears started to fall down your cheeks.
“It's okay.” He said.
A sob caught in your throat because it wasn't okay.
And as the staff approached the car, you just feel it…you were gonna regret this.

1. What's your blog title from?
I'm not a creative person so I just went with the first concise thing I thought could describe the things I'll be posting about. Which is "whatever" I love at that time.
2. What movie have you watched most recently? What did you think of it?
Wicked! Watched it with friends without me watching the first part lmaooo I mean I know the story of Wicked since I knew the musical but yeah didn't watch the first part of the movie. I think it was neat and I got goosebumps with the songs.
3. What are you looking forward to right now?
Oh I'm going to med school. We start in August.
4. If you could do anything at all today, what would it be?
Sleep!!
5. What's your drink of choice? (Coffee/tea order, alcohol of choice, soda, etc.)
Matcha if I'm spoiling myself. Water as the most convenient and cheapest way to hydrate myself, I do enjoy drinking water. I can't drink coffee - makes my tummy upset. Soda is a guilty pleasure. I do drink alcohol with friends -- I don't like beer, the only drink I'm comfy drinking is soju bomb 😆
6. What's your hair routine like? Anything special?
Nothing special. I wash it everyday -- which I found was...not entirely the nicest way to take care of your hair. But if I don't wash it, I feel like I'm so dirty 😩
7. What's your favorite way to travel? Is there a mode of travel you haven't done that you want to experience?
Oh I haven't flown yet. So airplane sounds nice...but the things I have to do to go the plane sounds sooo tedious.
8. Favorite month of the year and why?
December -- holiday season. Puts me in a festive uplifting mood.
9. Favorite time of day and why?
After lunch. It feels so slow and chill for me.
10. Do you play or follow any sports? Elaborate on that.
I play badminton but I'm no expert. I wanted to try volleyball but I'm so afraid getting hit by the ball to the face so no thank you. Pickleball is something my friends and I are planning but all of us have noooo idea how to play it so we keep putting it off lol
11. What kind of music is stuck in your head a lot lately?
Musical or 80s song. Musical -- I'm loving the Hadestown soundtrack and Wait For Me (Reprise) is on a loop in my head rn. Patrick Page as Hades is sexy!!! Also 80s song -- nothing in particular but Scorpions and Air Supply songs are a hit to me. People would say I love old things 😆 and what can I say if the old songs are great????
12. Dishes or laundry?
Dishes anyday. Laundry is too tiring for me, I'll have to run the washing machine, put it in the dryer, and then hang them all. Dishes? Ha! Just give me soap that's very bubbly and nice sponge, even the greasy tupperware is no match for me.
13. What's something you learned recently?
Active recall really does help in memorising stuff.
14. If you could give a TED talk on anything, what would you talk about?
Pleasure as part of sexual health -- such a taboo topic in a catholic-dominated country like ours and I did my undergraduate thesis on that (specifically sex toys) and achieved our batch's award for best thesis on that. I'd like to shout it to the rooftops that sexual health isn't just a matter of physical concern but also includes sexual pleasure.
15. What's a piece of advice you find yourself giving a lot?
"By x day, it would have been done regardless" -- I always remind this to myself whenever I'm too anxious and nervous about something coming up. Telling myself that after the D-day, so to speak, I would probably be chilling because the hard thing is done, has always made me push myself to get those hard things done.
16. What's a piece of advice you would give to yourself five years ago?
"You won't be given the opportunity if you weren't capable in the first place" so if you ever doubt yourself that you can do it, JUST FUCKING DO IT!! You were put in the room for a reason, stop double guessing yourself and stop underestimating yourself!!
17. Do you believe in luck and superstition? Do you carry any lucky items or follow any lucky rules?
Yes I believe in luck and superstition. Everything happening to me is too much of a coincidence to think luck and superstition aren't real😅 I don't have a lucky item and I'm not sure if this counts as a lucky rule but I am a believer of manifestation. Like if you want something then manifest it! Works for me...
18. Are you musical? Play any instruments or sing? Would you ever perform for an audience?
I play a lot of instruments! Flute -- I'd say above average skills and very confident to play it as I have been playing it since I was in 1st grade (something mandatory on our music curriculum). I also taught myself how to play piano and kalimba but I'm not confident in my skills there. I also know how to play a guitar - but!! Only with songs without an F chord because I can't do the F. There are two ways (?) to do the F: one with a "bar" and one with 4 fingers. My fingers are too weak to do the "bar" and my pinkie finger is too weak to hold the string. I'm also confident with playing the ukulele!! If I can't do the F in guitar, I pour my frustrations in playing the ukulele because there I can play any song 😆 Will I perform in an audience? Probably not.
19. Write, type, or speak?
OHHH...hard question. Type, write, speak -- in that order. I'm a fast typer and writer though my writing sucks. Speaking makes me nervous. I could be writing and typing paragraphs shit posting in tumblr and speaking to Tumblr friends but make me talk?? Suddenly my tongue and brain aren't really connected lmaooo
20. What do you wish someone would ask you?
Anything at all!! I really wouldn't mind questions in my inbox lol it could be about things that I post about (so far it's just Alfred Molina, kdramas, and Les miserables). But depending on the content, I may abruptly decide not to answer any questions I do not like and just outright delete it if it offends me, or too sensitive, or just outright bullying.

Such a rollercoaster of an episode. One moment I'm tearing up then the next I'm giggling because it's just so cute seeing Alfred sing 😔💕 then he just went 🏃🏻♂️💨

On a serious non simping note: Alfred really has expressive eyes + facial expressions. He really could convey emotions just with his eyes and I have massive respect to actors with that exact kind of acting. Doesn't help that he has that big doe eyes. It's like alhis eyes are his canvas to an artist like him 💕💕
