βiβm sure the anticipation is killing you, so let me shut up and hand you the mirror.β biting her lip, she reached for the hand-held mirror and handed it to him, the actualΒ βmirrorβ part facing away from him for dramatic effect, it was like one of those makeover shows where the person receiving the makeover sees themselves for the first time.Β βand if you donβt like it, iβd like a 60 second head start, please.
she had seen how they would usually pour the dye into a bowl and do it. sometimes, when they needed and specific color, they would mix two of them together in order to get the color that they wanted. using a bowl to hold the dye made her feel like a professional. it made her feel legit, even though she was in university for public relations. rubbing her arms up and down, she gave him a somewhat nervous smile. she knew she shouldβve probably practiced first but it was too late now.
βso, how did i do? i didnβt screw your hair up, did i?β
kijung liked to think he was pretty laid back and easygoing, especially when he wasnβt on a job or stressed out because of it, but he had to admit that he would not be the first person rushing to try something new. if someone else had suggested something though and he didnβt particularly dislike the idea enough to say no then heβd have no problem going along with it.
so how did he get into this situation? he does recall mentioning to yura one day that he was thinking about dying his hair for fun, maybe just for halloween shits and giggles before heβd go back to something more basic for the sake of his job (he knew that most of the time, plain hair was preferred so it didnβt draw attention from whatever they were trying to show off in the shoot, like clothes). he even toyed with the idea of doing something like serin did for chuseok. unsurprisingly, it looked good on her but he idly wondered if he could pull it off too - again, for fun. he could always dye it back if it looked bad, right?
what he doesnβt remember is when he agreed to actually going through with it and giving yura the honor of doing it for him no less, instead of going to a salon. not that he doesnβt trust the otherΒ because he does! he knows that studying public relations is not want she wants to do with her life and that sheβd rather study cosmetology instead so when she had looked so excited after he had told her about potentially changing his hair, how could he say no?
heβs still nervous though - like, really nervous. kijung isnβt sure how much experience yuraβs had with colouring someone elseβs hair and since they had decided to do this kind of spur of the moment (which is probably why he canβt remember exactly how they arrived at this point), they had forgotten to prepare some things when they were getting everything else needed. but sheβs his friend and kijung is very supportive of his friends so he does his best to make sure his uncertainty isnβt visible, even though the fact that she had also hidden any reflective surfaces so he couldnβt see what was going on didnβt help his nerves.
luckily though, yura is so focused on making sure she doesnβt mess up that he doesnβt think sheβd notice if he did but he figures itβs better to be safe than sorry so he keeps his mouth shut. he even dozes off at one point but heβs since woken up from it (although he almost considered napping again before he heard yura exclaim she was done). blinking up at the other, he looks at her curiously and asks, βreally? weβre done?β his heart rate picks up speed at the realization that he would see the results soon.
βis looking like an eboy a good thing?β he wonders out loud, features shifting to something more amused as he listens to yura. he has no idea what he looks like yet but the anticipation is killing him, just like she assumes, so he eagerly reaches for the mirror she passes to him, raising a brow when she asks for a 60 second head start.Β βwhy are you acting like you messed up?β heβs teasing her but a brief worry does flash across his mind so he takes a deep breath before turning the mirror around, inspecting his hair.
itβs... not bad? kijung is surprised as he continues looking at himself, turning this way and that to see his hair from all angles and even running his hands through it. itβs better than not bad, really; in fact, it looks pretty good considering yura is no professional.
βitβs amazing, honestly,β he finally says after heβs satisfied with what heβs seen, sending a grin up at her from his seat.Β βyou were obviously the right person for this,β he laughs. βi canβt believe youβre not studying this officially though. you sure we canβt convince your parents to let you change majors?βΒ
