I fucking love how the new Fire Emblem ambientation reminds a lot of the roman and byzantine empire!! (And then there's that Alucard). And how they have a lot of reference to ancient pantheons and myths. I'm gonna ramble about it, but just a tiny bit.
The one presiding the coliseum spectacle has like a radiant crown, related to Sun gods, like Apollo, Mithra, Helios, Janus... Gods of gods, gods of victories, contracts, prophecies, two faces, etc. Used by roman emperors as the famous case of Sol Invictus, and carried to the new byzantine center with Constantine, who was rumored to have a preference for Apollo (before, well, you know, that fucking dream he and his whole army had).
Look at this statue, what a fucking emperor. And one does not simply trust an emperor.
Also, as for more fashion complements, his belt has laurel leaves, symbol of triumph, and carried by ceasars too. And, apart from the romans and all that, would I sound crazy if I say the gold and blue collar reminds me of Ahura Mazda?? Because it kinda does.
Then, THAT awesome looking queen warrior is called Theodora, like the famous byzantine empress!! And I found curious her horns. I like to think they are a reference to Alexander the Great's, who was given those (babylonian symbol of divinity) in coins and statues after he was told he was the son of Zeus-Ammon by an oracle, again god of gods and Sun god. Also, Alexander was called son of the dragon, cuz one of Ammon's forms was a snake, and she rides a fucking dragon and her arms' armor looks dragony too.
And I dunno why but this kinda reminded me of that one mosaic of Darius fleeing from the battle.
Last there's Leda, who has the name of the mother of Helen of Troy. She had other sons, two mortals with her husband and two product of being lied by Zeus transformed into a swan (one is Helen).
She also summons demonic beasts, so I like to think the man who did her wrong and who she hates is a God or related to one (the radiant crowned, maybe? again, I don't trust him), just like Leda was wronged by Zeus.
Ps: She had one son who had a "simple life" (not), not the boxer, but the horse tamer, called Castor, son of her mortal husband. And I know it is a stretch but I like to imagine Cai is short for that, that he was abandoned (it's Fire Emblem) with some memento with a C or some bullshit. And that's why he rides that beast.
Anyway, I loved the trailer, looked very neat.
