can anyone tell me what's the problem with liking fanon? obviously racist and/or ableist tropes are a problem and should be criticized but isn't that also a thing that happens in canon? I like canon but I understand that some of it is flawed and deserves criticism. I think the same thing can apply for fanon: enjoying fanon =/= enjoying all of fanon. I understand calling out bigotry in fanon but other than that it seems harmless to me

the perception thing sounds like a made up problem and idgaf if people are reading "simplified" stuff. so what's the actual harmful aspect of it?
