Despite Benkei has yet to appear in the anime (which I’ve been dying for that to happen), he actually does have a number of official art merch of him. So that makes me happy more.

Apparently, there is one sidequest that confirms Benkei was actually the real Benkei himself.

Now all I’m asking for Level 5 is they better give this guy an evolution and some story connection about his previous “master”.

Benkei Mizuno

The Ultimate Exorcist

Benkei was born on the road by a local Shinto temple. His mother died during the birth and he was found by the monks that lived and served within the temple. Seeing the child as a gift from the gods, they decided to take the boy in and name him Benkei after an elder who had just passed the night before.

Benkei served the temple his whole life and found he had an aptitude for dismissing and warding off evil yokai and sicknesses. Anyone he prayed over was soon cured of their grief and an air of purity and wholesomeness seemed to follow him where ever he went.

Benkei is rather reserved but, like many of his fellow monks, has a great sense of humor. He’s a fantastic cook and is able to persist with very little comforts for a long while. He’s loyal, dedicated, albeit a bit stubborn, and always eager to bridge the gaps between all sorts of people.

Did I mention Benkei has lived his whole life without ever seeing a woman? As such, he refers to everyone he sees with masculine terms, no matter what they look like.
