Some Simon Snow Rant

When people say Simon Snow is bisexual and Rainbow Rowell didn’t acknowledge it in Carry On, I want to lean really close to them and whisper “bisexuality isn’t the only sensuality other than gay and straight”

Like can’t you see what she did there? She stated it’s ok to not label yourself, it’s ok to be confused about yourself, it’s ok to question yourself. It does not invalidate who you love. You can be confused about your sexuality and still fall in love. I mean I don’t know about you but I really needed that.

I really wish people acknowledged this more because Simon not labeling himself said so much to me when I first read Carry On. There’s a part at the end when Simon talks about his therapist, and the therapist tells him that figuring out his sexuality wasn’t the utmost importance and Simon is content with not talking about it and that really struck a chord with me because of how comfortable Simon was with not being labeled. We need more queer representation without labels and I think Simon is the perfect example of what it could be like.

Story time: carry on is the thing that made me realize I’m not straight. Like for the longest time I didn’t even think abt it bcuz I just thought all the guys in my school were gross (still true, but) so I just thought “oh I’ll meet the right guy when I’m older”

And then I read this book. And I realized that a person can not know what their sexuality is. I thought everyone was born knowing m, even tho I didn’t if that makes any sense. idk it just never clicked to me before but seeing Simon realize that he’s not 100% straight and just being chill with it rly helped me
