Ok this one was a doozy for me. TW- I get a little deep with trauma related topics.
It’s about my Night Lord’s perpetual thing. Her name is Maur (Maurellia Nochnoya) and is suspected to be a void born. No one knows, it’s just sort of shrugged off.
Because of her perpetual-ness she is consistently sent out on assignments that are too dangerous for her- but because she can just die and come back she’s made to be the most successful and also most mid persistence predator.
She is not good at what she does, but she gets it done type shit.
She’s typically naked ( that’s just how I draw her, more or less) to show off her tattoos, and my little head cannon is that she does not like clothing because of a sensory issue. Rough fabric on skin = itchy and bad, and that would be a distraction during assignments. She does wear bone jewelry and little battle trophies- mimicking her Night Lord master’s traditions for wearing the bones and skin of their victims.
Besides Novia ( my Girlyman/ultramarine Oc ) she is my most developed oc- and I still feel like they are all developing and changing as I learn more about how to balance them. (Oh, also making new ocs and trying to make them different from the ones I have lol).
Her theme is all about trauma, specifically unresolved trauma, and how she exists within it being completely normalized. I resonate a lot with her on a personal level- how someone can endure and survive in a traumatic environment but be completely naive to how or why that environment is exploitative and dangerous.
She is a character I use a lot for coping with my own trauma/ understanding how my symptoms with CPTSD manifest. She doesn’t really know how to grow on an emotional level, and is thus stunted. She uses her imagination and play as a coping mechanism, and being pulled away from that coping mechanism and routine results in confusion, disregulation, and social withdrawal among other things.
I like drawing her silly because I think it fits her perception of her own environment. But I guess the meta narrative is that it’s not silly?
I think about it like when I’m with friends and we are sharing stories and laughing about it- and then I pull up with the most unhinged, traumatic memory and laugh at it and the rest of the group is just 😬😬😬.
