Caw-Caw had been sat on the broken branch of an old oak tree, the recent storm having done a number on the forest. Although he had no attachment to the forest himself, he’d heard the whispering amongst the other crows: something evil had been let loose. He had no clue what the evil could be, hearing multiple accounts from his brethren; shadows, a cursed snake, a plague, he’d heard it all.
Etching a small rune, a small protection charm, into the branch with his claw, his beady eyes saw someone walk along the forest floor. Although Caw-Caw doubted the person would take any notice or even understand the meaning behind it, he cawed several times, warning them about the dangers. // @yokigo — ★
what a disparaging feeling : the wood itself , upset . it was a burden perhaps too large and leaden for human shoulders , no matter how wide –– though it was not an unfamiliar weight to him . indeed , no - one but his curiosity had called him to help this place , but it seemed this was far from a mistake . like a paper - thin fog , he could see it , everywhere : all the LIFE . the hidden flickers of what some called ‘ magic ‘ climbing like ivy all around and –– being hawked down to him from above ? ( he smiled at the sound . crows were so very INGENIOUS . )
❛ is that a go - ahead ? ❜ one hand rubs absentmindedly at the back of his neck , the other smoothing the creases from his brow like an old map . this particular bird was aglow with life - light : best to listen , even if he couldn't parse the words . ❛ ah . . . once for yes , twice for no ? ❜
