THREE SECRETS !! alright, alright, alright, please ♡ and / or ↻ if you’d be interested in writing with a KUSURIURI / MEDICINE SELLER from the anime series MONONOKE (2007) !! Mister Medicine Seller is a pretty nice guy (he’s not) and just a simple vendor (he’s not) who’s totally human (he’s not) and here to help (kill ghosts) !! It’s a swell time. penned by Linnea !!
every time I come back here personal blogs have ransacked the placed
PALLID FACED HUNGER, CANINES PROTRUDE FROM HIS LIPS AS THEY PARTED. They were in no rush, really, and their proclivities towards the bizarre was already well known. As well known as they could be. The medicine seller’s features did not distort at the other’s actions, instead remained placid and unmoving. Still, there wanted to be a small chuckle elicited from lilac lips. They spoke up,
“ demons ... are not within my specialty ... did you need assistance? ”

THIS ISN’T YOUR LIFE. IT NEVER WAS. He will learn this soon enough. Through unfortunate circumstances and bizarre happenstance. He will learn this truth, about his being and person. UNPERSON, UNHUMAN, UNDOING. It’ll be sad and horribly ugly. For the truth he learns will not be the right one. But that isn’t for a few years now so why not stop dwindling in the woes and worries. The medicine seller does not worry. Not much, if ever.
But as he gazes lazily at the horizon, sun sinking down and coloring the sky brightly as watercolors, he dictates to the solider yet another tune of adding insult to injury.
“ Were you ... not quick enough? Not, strong enough? ” He spoke lackadaisical and crooning. The coyness was not to go unnoticed either. “ Or, were you not paying attention? ” Another day another mission, but never had he seen him hurt. No pity was heard, nor seen on the medicine seller, for it was unnecessary and most likely unwanted.

who here has actually seen mononoke (2007)?
HEADCANON, just some little things.
** Kusuriuri is surprisingly good with children. Infants, toddlers, young children etc. He’s good at keeping them entertained and content. Give him a crying baby and the they will immediately stop bawling. It’s a mystery as to why since kusuriuri doesn’t exactly like caring for children, although they don’t dislike it either.
** Not actually very good at the whole ‘medicine selling’ business. That’s not to say he’s not making a living. Kusuriuri is able to sell his wares mostly because of his looks. Mysterious and attractive, people will buy from him just for the novelty. But when it comes to actually upselling and acting the part of a salesman he doesn’t exactly try. With a monotone voice and occasionally forgetting what herb is what, he’s not very convincing. Still, he has plenty of cash although he really only uses it for room and board.
** As the way of learning about medicine way back when, Kusuriuri is no stranger to grave robbing. He’s been on war fronts and he’s seen famine and plague. He keeps up with the ever changing knowledge of the medical field. He’s well practiced and does know what he’s doing (most of the time)
EYE OPEN, EYE CLOSE. blinking, fluttering, lashes gossamer thin. Whether it be their features pale as paper, colors the circle their eyes painted in a rather garish fashion. Ornate, opulent, extravagant - eccentric, and yet they haven’t spoken a word since attending to the fortune teller’s company. PALM READING, DIVINATION THROUGH TEA LEAVES, WERE THE STARS ALIGNED IN YOUR FAVOR? The medicine seller would not deign to question such methods of seer searching. To gaze beyond and into the future. They knew as much as they needed, to live day to day. But still, across their features stoic, the simplest of curiosities could make each hour a bit more bearable.
“ Hmm~ I’ve been told ... I am difficult to read ... should I take offence? ”
Nails scratched against the table for a moment, before clicking idly on the wood. Lavender claws manicured and pristine, unknowing of the blood caked underneath. The medicine seller almost seemed giddy, although the slightest hint of any emotion could be read as a miracle.
