there was a lot of pressure on yoonbin’s shoulders, but it was pressure that he himself had placed there the second he agreed to go on the trip. it was hard for him to say no to mai to begin with, but the idea of showing everyone the new and improved him was appealing enough to him in that moment. as it got closer, however, the more he started to regret it, fearing what everyone else would think of who he had become. there was a entirely different air around him; confidence and a break out of his shell that had been holding him back for the entirety of his school life. mai’s house was a familiar place for him, but even then he tripped on one of the steps as if he had never been there in his life, and then proceeded to fall in the most dramatic way imaginable. by the end of it he was laying on his back in the grass, staring up at the sky as he prayed no one had witnessed it. of course he hadn’t been so luckily, hearing footsteps and reluctantly lifting his head to see who it was. “hey,” he stated casually, “the grass is actually pretty comfortable, and i’m pretty sure the cloud up there right now is managing to look like all three chipmunks. alvin, theodore, and... the other one,” he finished with a wave of his hand, “if you wanna join me.”
-` park jimin. male. he/him. ´- the squad wouldn’t be complete without yoonbin kim. in high school the twenty-two year old was voted most likely to be on an episode of catfish. they were often intelligent and compassionate, but often quite needy, but maybe they’re changed. since graduation they have changed their appearance almost entirely, and have since been studying acting and desperately trying to make it big. they are nervous about the entire trip to be honest. chances are they’ll try to blast so long by abhi the nomad in the car. ( + excessive whining, well organized chaos, nineties comeback fashion. )

first of all: his superlative is him being the catfish, not the one catfished. it’s not a very nice superlative, but he pretended to have very thick skin in school, so that sort of teasing seemed like an okay thing to do with him.
BASICALLY yoonbin was a very shy boy growing up. discipline in his house was harsh and it really shaped him into being what others would assume was the perfect student. he was quiet and focused on school. he hated school pretty early on, however - he felt out of place, too shy, and he lacked any amount of confidence. it only got worse as time went on and he really got slapped with how mean kids could be about other’s appearances. there had been more than a few pranks pulled on him about girls being interested in him, and even some boys would try to fuck with him. he was: very unhappy.
the more he was bullied, the less he cared about how he looked, too. he started focusing more on school and doing things that made him happy alone in his bedroom. the lack of a social life and any kind of physical activity beyond in his life was more and more obvious, and he was quickly labeled a weird kid that no one really wanted to be around during middle school.
high school was when he’d reluctantly entered the ‘squad’. one friend was enough to drag him into the group, and for once he finally felt included in something. he tried really hard to not be weird, but he was often embarrassing himself and acting like a complete FOOL. even still, it was probably the best years of his school life. he finally felt like a real teenager.
sadly, that came and went. immediately after graduation it was like yoon had dropped off the face of the earth. he stopped talking to just about everyone, but that was when he started to focus on himself. he started college, but it wasn’t long before he realized that wasn’t at all the path he wanted to take in life. though his parents were disappointed in him, he started working on himself. he definitely looks entirely different in comparison, and acts different, too. his new ABUNDANCE of confidence has turned him into the person he always dreamed of being. he’s flirty and a bit whiny, but luckily he’s still, deep down, the caring guy that he was in high school.
he’s both excited and nervous about the roadtrip - he’s happy they even remembered him, but he’s worried what everyone will think of the New him, or what they’ll think when they hear that his dream is now centered around having everyone’s attention, despite him trying to avoid it as much as he could in school.
