Is this a safe space to say I don't like bloodymary... (I'm sorry to anyone who ships it, no disrespect, do whatever you want ofc). If you don't want to read something that's critical of your ship, I understand.

Putting aside my own personal aroace head cannon for Ryland, a lot of the content I see reduces Rocky to... A pet? Just funny little guy who pushes them together? Idk, I don't like the decentering him just because he's not human. Ryland Grace already has some with incredibly similar circumstances to bond with. Rocky is right there.

It just feels like another case of people pushing platonic relationships in media to the side because apparently they aren't interesting enough for people and they have to get another man there and give Grace a romantic interest and reduce Rocky to a mascot.

Grace and Rocky literally make me sick (in a good way) with how much I love them but because it's platonic (in canon, romantic Grocky shippers I see you even if I don't personally agree), it's not enough for most people to explore or be interested in.

I'm listening to the track Connection from the phm movie score and it's lowkey making me emotional... Like it captures the curiosity and wonder and awkwardness and sweetness of Rocky and Grace's first few moments together... I love this soundtrack.

Except when time go fishing and excessive centrifugal force started to play where it made me a little too stressed and I had to skip ahead (even though the music is so good)

Rocky and Ryland Grace literally friendship of all time.

Like. The circumstances that they're in are so turbulent. Both of their home planets are dying and they have to find a solution. It's incredibly dangerous, and they both have to watch each other almost die. They can't breathe the same atmosphere. They don't speak the same language. Grace was literally forced into space, and Rocky had to watch their entire crew die until they were left alone.

But their love for each other is so strong, even when everything around them isn'. Even when they both know they'll have to eventually leave each other, to never see each other again.

That is, until Rocky is in trouble and Grace had to go back for him because that was his best friend that he couldn't leave behind.

And the fact that they can't even touch 😭 at least, not without hurting eacother. They only time they have, both of them were actively dying. Gahh they make me sick.

This moment is so dear to me I want to cry. First of, Grace is so gentle with him? Something something kindness literally saves the world (two worlds, in this case). Also, you just KNOW that Grace is that teacher in whose classroom the kids go to cry when they feel like the whole world has turned against them.

But secondly, "I'm a science human"! Because yeah. None of them is the other's weird alien dog. None of them is the "smart one" (or rather, they both are). They can't do this without each other. They complement each other. They need each other to succeed, there's no other way. That's the whole point! Cooperation! Connection! Working together!

I feel like there's something so special about seeing Ryland Grace as aroace because a lot of other aspec characters, especially aro characters (either headcanon or canon) are seen as/are cold, not emotional, don't have friends etc

Ryland Grace is a character who has deeply important platonic relationships in Rocky, a connection not only profound enough that it saves two planets, but also so profound that it lead him to turn and around for Rocky.

Even back on Earth, he forms connections with his students, with Carl in the movie, or Dimitri in the book, or Stratt, who has to send him off to die even when she doesn't want to.

Ryland Grace, who cries all the time, and is funny and awkward and allowed to express emotion.

Someone has definitely talked about this before but the emotional whiplash I got in the book when Grace says "sorry Rocky" as though he's not going to turn around and then a few lines later "I know you'd love to take a beetle apart, but I couldn't spare one."

If you don't think Ryland grace is aroace, go and make your own post shipping him with someone. Go and read the fanfiction that has him in romantic relationships.

Allo people are so threatened by a character they like being headcannoned as aroace because deep down, some of you don't see us as human, or think there's something wrong with us, or that our lives are boring.

You have a billion character, a billion ships out there. Most stories are centred on romance.

The forehead touch in project hail Mary is so 😭😭😭 and it isn't even really one because Rocky doesn't really have a forehead and they don't technically touch gahhh I love them so much.
